Reflection on Dissertation: Social Media and Customer Behavior

Dissertation Reflection

REFLECTION
There are different areas that I got to develop with the help of this research. At the initial
stage I did not have proper knowledge related with different set of tools which are used in social
media. In this context, I got to know that social media can be determined as one of the best tool
that is used by organization's with the help of which customers base is enhanced. Companies
have direct interaction with service user and they determine the issues which are faced by them.
Accordingly, they make changes in their services or product that will enable them to achieve
their organizational goals and objectives. At the initial stage I know only Facebook that helped
the organization through which information is conveyed regarding the products and services that
they want to deliver. In this context, it includes social media like Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.
(Duggan and Brenner, 2013) These companies help in delivering proper care to customers.
Further, there are different set of factors that affect the buying behaviour of customers. In
this context, it is the responsibility of management of organization to identify them and make
appropriate steps through which high quality services can be provided. I got to know that there
are seven steps and at all the stages customers can change his/her mind to select different
product. Customers develop perception over the services that are provided to them. With this
respect, it includes price as one of the main factor that affects the buying behaviour. There are
different organizations that provide their customers with similar products and services (Shields,
Brown and Plimmer, 2015). However, positive perception is developed with firm deliver their
services or goods at low cost. However, it got to know that when price is low, then customers
prefer to purchase the product that is of high quality. In this context, it can be stated that
management of any organization should aim at providing their service users with high quality
services. In this modern world people are health concisions. They prefer to make use of or
purchase goods that are of high quality.
Moreover, I got to know that marking is highly benefited through social as it enables to
know perception of people towards different services that are provided. Further, employees are
the face of organization has they have direct interaction with customers. In this context, they
should be capable enough to understand the needs and requirement of service users. With this
respect, management should identify the issues that are faced by workers. Accordingly, training
and development program should be arranged that help to satisfy customers. In most of the cases,
workers do not understand the set of roles and responsibilities that they have to perform.

However, with the help of training they will get to know their duties that has to be played by
them. Further, they will be able to clarify their doubts and proper services can be provide to
customers. Moreover, regular customers can be changed into loyal once when all the
requirements are fulfilled. There are case in which people do not get to fulfil all the needs and in
this type of situation, service users develop negative perception. In such situation they these
people can not be changed into loyal once. However, when people get to fulfil all their
requirements and when they also get additional services benefits with the products or services is
provided by the firm, then they get to develop themselves into loyal customers. Further, I got to
know that market research is very essential as it enables the firm to know the taste and
preference of customers what image people have towards the services or goals. It helps the
organization to identify the issues that are faced by workers in context of the services that are
used. Moreover, different organization make use of diverse set of strategies and conducting
research enables to know the steps that should be taken order to compete effectively and
efficiently. Further, people get attracted to think that are flashed on the screen immediately. As
per a research, it can be determined that the colour that is used by the firm also play vital role in
grabbing customers attention (Zhang, 2014). People tent go through those advertisements on
social media where they get to them, through notifications. In this context, e-mail play vital role
as it enables to make people updated related with the offers that are provided by the organization.
From the research I got to know that people or customers tent to buy the product or make use of
services when they are provided with additional benefits. It enables to boost up their moral ans
develops a positive perception among their mind. When people get to have more than what they
have expected, then they make use of the products or services again and again. Further, this type
of repetitive purchase is high beneficial for the organization to achieve their goals and objectives.
In order to develop a report, there are different set of skills that are required and it
includes research skills. I got to develop my research skills as at the initial stage I face many
issues in relation with finding the correct content. There are many websites that provide different
type of information in respect to same topic. However, I got know which web page has to be
selected and taken as reference so that the research outcome can be attained. Further, it includes
decision making skills as there are many researches conducted on similar topics and it becomes
difficult to select the most appropriate journals that will enable to fulfil the research aim and
objectives. Further, it essential that I should know the proper format or the structure through

which research project can be conducted. At the initial stage I did not have proper knowledge
about the same. However, by going through different other research projects, I was able to get to
list out the structure that will enable me to develop an effective research report. Structure enables
to know what all type of topics are required to cover and what exactly has to be done in order to
cover all the objectives of the research.
There were situations in which I had to take help from my seniors in order to clarify all
by doubts. However, my seniors have provided to be very much helpful as they were able to
clarify all their doubts. Further, it is important that one should have effective way of writing
research reports. It is not the way how one talks but it requires to have proper understanding that
one should realize that the report need to be developed in such a way that readers will be able to
understand it. In this context, I when through different articles, books and journals that enabled
me to know what all things has to be considered in order to make a research reports.
Apart from all these skills, it is also essential to have proper time management. Time
plays vital role as there are different areas that has to be considered and to complete the research
aim these activities has to be fulfilled. In this context, there were cases in which I was not able to
compete the listed out activities on time. In such situations I have to reduce the time that was
already scheduled. However, I was able to manage my work and this way I developed my time
management skills. There are areas in which I had to wait so that someone could guide me and
let me know that the areas or activities that are covered are going on write direction or not.
Further, it is also important for me to have managerial skills as it helped me to understand the
that there should be proper management of all the listed activities in order to develop a proper
research report. Further, presentation is also important, a report will only be read when the
language is written is simple. In this context, in the research I have used simple language so that
readers will be able to understand the aim and objectives.
Further, there are different type of research methodology used in order to conduct the
research. Each of the research methodology have different areas like design, scope, approach,
data collected, data collection, etc. With this respect, it is important for me to know want all tools
or methods can be use by me. In this context, I learned and develop my knowledge in order to
know more about research methodology. This helped me to know want all methods and tools
needs to used with the help of which the research can be conducted in an effective manner.

Moreover, there were issues that I faced in order to find appropriate journals that are
related with the research topic. However, I took help from my seniors who guided to select most
reliable and appropriate journals from which I was able to gather secondary information. In this
context, it can be stated that this research helped me to develop my capabilities in many ways.
