Benefits of a Diverse Workforce
Diversity in a workplace is the variation of the employees in the organization based
on the different parameters like religion, background, gender, nationality, abilities and so on.
The diversity within an organization incorporates various advantages in business-related
activity. Firstly, the more diverse a workplace, the more variety in the perspectives of the
employees. This will generate different approaches towards the job and thus bring about a
variety in the solutions. Diversity also enhances creativity because mixture of thought process
occurs in the work sphere amongst the different kind of employees, thus bringing in
innovative ideas to enhance the business processes (Mazibuko & Govender, 2017). Diversity
amongst employees also promotes goodwill of the organization amongst a wider range of
customers thus boosting the brand’s reputation to an enhanced level.
Diversity within the work sphere also helps to manage the talents of an organization
with minimal efforts. Employees belonging from different cultural backgrounds will develop
an interest in knowing each other and promote cohesiveness within the departments. Multi-
culturalism also brings about effective communication amongst the employees that will help
to solve issues faster and promise employee retention.
The HR department should arrange for trainings that will enhance the employees to
accept the diversity in the workplace. They should explain the employees about the legal
steps that the organization can take if they discriminate or harass employees from different
background or culture. The Federal Laws of United States does not entertain any
discrimination amongst employees (Van Berkel et al., 2017). Hence, organization should hire
employees based on their experience and not on any ethnic indicators.
