SOCIOLOGY1 Australian government had started the campaign “Don’t Make smokes your story” with the objective to save the Australian from harmful effects of smoking. Smoking weakens the immunity system of an individual, doing it. It makes the body suspectable to diseases. The goal of the campaign was to make Australians healthy again by helping them quit smoking. The target of the campaign was smoke addictive population of Australia. The government had taken various positive interventions in bringing the Smoke-free vision of Australians into reality. It had created the website of the campaign where all relevant information regarding the campaign was uploaded. It had cited various facts related to smoking to encourage the population to quit it. The facts were smoking causes diabetes, quitting smoking is the only way to plan a healthy family, and to increase the family income it is important to quit this addictive habit. These facts served as a remainder for the population to bring them on the road to change(Australian Associated Press, 2016). The Australian government had used various tactics to achieve the results. On its websites, it had posted various videos of the people who got successful in quitting this deadly habit. One such video posted included, a family head who shares his positive effects of breaking through from the habit. He says that his relations with the people have improved and his children have become morereceptivetowardshim.Heisnowmorefinanciallyabletomeetoutthefamily expenditures. The motive behind sharing such stories was to encourage them to quit the habit by making them focus on the positive experiences after quitting. The other tactics included advertisement campaigns on tv, radio and internet. Social media was also used as the tool to make Australians health again. The campaign also partnered with various government hospitals and renowned doctors to make people aware about various steps involved in achieving the result (AustralianGoverment,2019)s.Governmentalsoorganizedvariouscampsatoffices, community centers and parks. The goals of the camps were to educate the population the step- wise ways of coming out from the addictive disorder. It also provided them with various resources to help them in achieving the results. The outcomes of these positive Australian government intervention were great. Various generic interviews were conducted to analyze the effects of the programs. The targeted population of the campaign was interviewed to record their experiences. Around 65% of the respondents reported being capable of quitting the smoking for a month. Out of 65% of the population, 10 % were
SOCIOLOGY2 recorded getting completely cured from the addiction(Australian Goverment, 2019). Moreover, after the implementation of theprogram, there was a surge on the documentaries of people with positive experiences on its websites. Overall, the program was a success due to the positive government interventions to eradicate the problem from its roots.
