INTRODUCTION AND LITERATURE REVIEWIntroduction Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is also known as Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD). It refers toa disease where a depository substance of is deposited in the coronary arteries of the heart. Thesubstance deposited is called as plague (Gaggini and et.al., 2013). The damage in the inner layerof this artery is due to smoking, high blood pressure, inflammation in blood vessels, high level ofsugar in the blood due to diabetes, etc. It has been assessed that 37% of the deaths in people aredue to decreased physical activities. Intake of improper diet and lack physical exercise can alsoresult in CHD. Indulgence in physical exercise and having proper intake of nutrients in diet helpsin improving the health conditions of an individual (Kavousi and et.al., 2012). Health experts atNational health service guidelines recommends that it is important for the human body toexercise for 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. It can help in reduction in the incidenceof Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). The aim of the present research is to analyse the benefit of 30minutes of running a day in reducing the risk of coronary heart disease. It will help in focussingon various research strategies that can help in attaining the research aim in a well-definedmanner (Rognmo and et.al., 2012).Literature reviewAccording to Garner and Scott (2013), the main cause of CHD is obesity. Moreover, it alsocontributes in worsening the factors of CHD in men and women both. The incidence of type 2diabetes and blood pressure is higher if the person is overweight. Excess fat around the waist andelevated amount of insulin increases the risk of coronary artery disease. In contrast to this, as perthe views of Gay, Mills and Airasian (2011), a person who is involved in continuous exerciseand other physical activity can reduce the incidence of CHD among people.According to Kriz, Gummesson and Quazi (2013), obesity is the cause of variouscardiovascular disease inclusive of elevated risk of diabetes mellitus and hypertension. It alsoleads to CHD and heart failure. The severity in the patients slows down with decrease innweight. Moreover, age also plays an important role in the same. Men are considered to be athigher risk in comparison to women. However, the risk in women also become effective aftermenopause. In contrast to this, as per the views of Taylor, Smith and Bullmore (2013), adoptionof healthier lifestyle also plays an important role in reduction of the incidence of Coronary HeartDisease.
