Tourism can be defined as the movement of individuals or groups from their home
destinations to another country or place for purposes such as leisure, business, rejuvenation, etc.
The tourism industry refers to the sum total of all those small and large businesses that help in
facilitating the tours and travel operations of a particular place. Sustainability tourist development is
a term that has been incorporated by the UN Environment Program which takes into consideration
various social and environmental impacts while condusting the trade of tourism (Richards, 2018).
All these concepts fall under the umbrealla of tourism environment and industry which will be
explored and understood in the following report.
The destination country that has been chosen in this regard is that of Dubai UAE which is
considered one of the best leading Gulf nations in major industries including the travel and tourism
sector. The tourist industry of Dubai has been selected as it contains attractive places and offers
credible and safe travel experience. The report below will thus define and identify the concepts of
sustainable principles and will duscuss the role of tourism stakeholders. The report will also analyze
several micro and macro environmental factors and will summarize the findings with suitable
recommendations.

Sustainable tourism can be defined as the concept that entails all the elements of tourism
experience in alignment with the tenets of sustainability. It is the form of tourism that meets the
needs of all those who are involved in the tourism industry and environment such as host
communities, local residents, and visitors. The concept of sustaainability in the industrial area of
tourism maintains that the commercial activity of travel and tourism will be conducted without
compromising its future ability that will come in handy to the next generations. The dimension of
sustainable tourism has been described by the United Nations World Trade Organization (UNWTO)
as fulfilling these 3 requirements which are – optimal use of natural and human resources, ensuring
socio-cultural heritage, and maintaining long-term goals in a viable economical manner (Amerta
and et.al., 2018). In this regard, the travel industry of Dubai comprises of a public-private based
partnership model known as DST (Dubai Sustainable Tourism) which aims for a clean and green
tourism sector (Yas and et.al., 2020).
As per the Tourism Concern association of 1991, there are some key principles that
collectively make up the entire cohesive structure of sustaianble tourism division. The travel
landscape of Dubai includes most of these given principles keeping in consideration various
sustainable development goals such as industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), afforadable
and clean energy (SDG 7), etc.
The first sustainable principle of the tourism industry is appropriately using the available
resources be it either physical, human, natural or man-made. Using the resources in an optimal way
not only helps in its conservation for future generations but also promotes a long term success of the

preservation of its natural land and forest reserves. It is for this and many other tenable reasons that

The next principle of sustainable tourism is that of the maintenance of biodiversity and
cultural heritage along with a gradual reduction and total elimination of the menace of waste and
extra consumption habits. This is very important as the destination countries which put efforts in the
environmental restoration witness a qualitative travel industry with low costs of expenditure and
investment. It also increases the rate of tourists from all rund the globe as people prefer travelling to
places with a waste-free environment. Here, the Dubai tourism industry has efficiently retained a

their large number of employees who are working on different post. This makes the workers happy
and results in the execution of their excellent services to the tourists that leave the destination

innovative product with good quality and lower price. Dubai's transportation, accommodation, and
travel services put a good enough emphasis on the care of their customers' needs and provide the
best price to them which helps in increasing its business sales and profit. Government have staked
of all business including the Dubai tourism market; all the business have to follow the government
rules and regulations. The travel sector also tries to avoid any legal dispute because of its reputation.

easier because of the governmental decisions and it became easier to travel in many of the foreign
countries along with the Dubai but there are still some countries that aren't easy to go in.
Government stability: political stability is main factor for any of the economy for the successful
drive of the tourist destinations (Chang, and et.al, 2020). Travellers get interested to visit Dubai
after they listen about the place how innovative and futuristic that place is, the political stability of
the government of Dubai makes it easy and heart-warming to know that how safe the place is to
visit without any of the concern.
Tax incentives: this political factors influences the tourism the most in the city of Dubai as there is
no tax in the city although the government has implied some amount of tax in the city depending on
the income level. The tourists can claim up the tax refunds on the products purchased on the trip
and can receive the incentives on trips.
Economic factors:
Rising of disposable income: though the conditions of COVID-19, travel band, and the mass lock-
down reduced the tourism in the country of UAE but after everything got normalized it is all on the
boom again (Higgins-Desbiolles 2020). As, the economy of the country grow individuals started
travelling more and more. This resulted in the positive factor for the tourism industry.

Social pressure: the way travelling is becoming a fashion nowadays, individual have the constant
and significant online presence by impressing other individuals (Oxford Analytica 2019). This term
comes as the positive factor for the tourism industry but will not have sustainable growth if society
reduce the use of it.
Racial acceptance: this term is another positive factor for tourism in Dubai. As there is no one who
might got targeted on the basis of their skin colour, faith, or any other personal attributes they might
have in them, and they feel free to travel in the Dubai.
Technological factors:
Better transport: the way Dubai is a developed city in the country of UAE. It has the best and
finest class of transport facilities available in there. In the modern era travellers have more options
to travel and with advent of planes it became easier and cheaper to travel in the internationally.
Legal factors:
Social trends: as by the going time the use of electronic devices and digitalization is increased and
thus the outside activity are reduced. This factor may affect the tourism industry and may not
provide with the growth.
Environmental factors:
Pollution: the use of the transportation is increasing day by day and it is creating more pollution in
the environment. This environmental factor can lead to negative impact on tourism industry. Also,
tourists can pollute the localized areas of the destination by not being respectful to the place. This
unfortunately creates the negative impact.
Analysation of the micro factors that motivate the tourism in the “DUBAI-UAE”:
Motivational factors: as per the maslow's need hierarchy theory the environment of the Dubai is
friendly and very safe to travel in with the friends and family and generates the value of love and
belogingness and it is so, because of the highly effective rules and regulations in the city makes It
friendly for every one to travel and enjoyable at that different destinations with different valeus of
the fun, proper assurance, and realization of the self needs that includes the materialized manner of
the self-satisfaction (Özdemir, and Çelebi, 2018).

Perception about the destination: as their are the articles and news about the dubai always
representing the huge buildings of the city and different futuristic things about the destination by
including the different arabic modernized monuments attracts the tourists from so many other
countries towards the Dubai, UAE.
Influencing the personality and travel destination choices: if the person is new to the field of
hospitality industry and selects out the unusual spot that might have the growth potential. Dubai
becomes the most destination because of its internal culture and contemporary sighteeing followed
by the major attraction burj khalifa and the another attractions of malls present there with massive
indoor sky slopes and mammoth aquariums (Agyeiwaah, 2019). The city gives out many of the
highlights and glamrous moderns things to do that influences the lifestyle of the people.
External factors influencing the tourism: as the rules and regulations setted by the government of
Dubai is on the different levels so getting the visa for every age group and people is very easy and
this resulted in strong reputation for the safe travel for the people to visit Dubai. The other factors
that increased the tourism in the dubai is employment opportunities, growing economy, world-class
environment, perfect accommodation facilities, etc.
