SomStores is a one stop shop which deals with foodstuffs, beverages, cleaning material and
clothes. Each of these products has its own store and website. The limitation with the particular
websites is that, it is just informative and lacks the functionality of online ordering and
transactions. The website just offers basic information about the specific product, contact
information and location of the store. In the recent times, the business has not been doing well
compared to earlier times. Upon doing some feasibility study on why the customers are pulling
away, the research team realize that most of the customers now want home deliveries as to
visiting the stores. The management has now decided that they want a one stop shop website that
integrates all the products and also enables online transactions and payments. Thus, the objective
of the project is to come up with a website that can enable the customers to buy and order
products online from the various stores of Somstores. (Gupta, 2008).
Therefore, it is important for the management to plan and get prepared. A project team will be
constituted that will carry out feasibility study on the requirements cost and time that the website
will take until it is up and running. Proper planning will lead to development of a system that
meets the business objectives. Therefore, the project team should consist of members of top
management, employees and if necessary a few customers so as to factor in what they would like
to see and find on the website. The management wants a solution in two months and within the
specific budget. (Stavru, 2014)

Currently the websites in place are four. All of them are non-responsive and only provide general
information about the business and the products offered. It only allows the customers to check
what is offered but does not allow them to make any order or enquiries. The ecommerce website
to be developed will be an integrated website having all the details about the four products, that
is, food, beverages, cleaning materials and clothing. The system should enable the user to view
the product’s details such as price, quality, quantity, availability and delivery time. It will also
enable the customers to add the selected product to the cart and upon checking out, if the
customer is already registered in the system s/he can login and proceed to check out by doing
payment via PayPal or their credit card number. (Lee, Park, Kim, Huh, & Sohn, 2015).
If the customer is not registered, the system should prompt him/her to register first before
checking out. Registration into the system is a one-time activity and cannot be repeated. The
system will also allow admin to add products and modify information about them. The system
will have two parts, the front end which is designed for the customer to interact with the system
and make his/her orders and the second part is the backend which is purely administrative. The
admin of the system can be able to view customer activity and receive their orders and
forwarding it to the relevant store and department. Also the website is expected to meet the user
requirement and the business objectives. (Bronzite, 2010).

The website will be developed using PHP, JavaScript, bootstrap, CSS and HTML 5. The
development team is purely made up of personnel with the required expertise to code the system.

After the system has been develop several testing will be carried out to ascertain the functionality
of the website and if it meets the requirements and the business objectives. The types of testing
that will be done include unit testing, integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing.
For unit testing, every functional component within the system will be tested. For instance, the
login procedure, the website should allow the customer to successfully register and login in using
the details s/he provided. This particular testing is very important because it ensures that every
part of the system is functioning as expected. The cart functionality also will be tested to ensure
that the customer can be able to add products to cart before checking out. The checkout
functionality will be tested to ensure that the website can be able to add the total amount the
customer is supposed to pay and direct the customer to the payment page. (In Loper, 2015).
Integration testing will be carried out to ensure that all the units or modules can communicate
and link. For example, if the customer has finish doing shopping then s/he should be able to be
directed to the checkout page and not home page. System testing will be conducted to ensure that
