1EARLY CHILDHOOD MATH AND SCIENCE
This lesson plan has been designed to help students to understand the concept and
implementation of addition and substruction operation by using fingers, objects, colours,
images, imaginations, expression and numerical values. This lesson plane enables the student
to interact with the teacher while participating in the group discussion about learning various
process of simple linear addition and substruction of rational numbers.
Part 1:
Motivating Question: How can I add and subtract different objects using hand,
objects and colours?
Learning Target: Student will learn the process of addition and subtraction of
rational positive numbers in several linear calculations and
considerations. They will also learn to read and write the
constant number and the operation of addition and
substruction from the simple constant valued equation or
simplification.
Objective/ Standard: From this lesson plan the student will able to identify the
operator and operand from a simple linear equation.
Student will also understand the use of operand and the
dependency on operator while calculating the answer.
Student will also able to learn the addition and substruction
process through imaginative as well as object oriented
calculation.
Student will able to identify the proper answer through

rechecking the answer using multiple methods.
Student will also learn where to put the answer value after
making the calculation.
Resources/Materials: Colourful marshmallow, colourful images, pencil, rubber,
back board, chalk, duster, object of different size and colour,
seating arrangement for the students
Advanced Preparation: The Teacher should check that all students has the pencil,
rubber and notebooks with them.
The teacher should also ensure that the provided objects are
safe for children’s use.
The teacher should secure the student from self-poisoning
by making them aware of that the objects they are using is
only for handling, not for taking into mouth or licking.
Activities/Tasks: Students will be provided with various colourful
marshmallows, and other objects with different colours.
The student will be asked to separate the marshmallows
from the other objects and calculate the total number of the
marshmallow and write down the answer in their notebook
Then teacher will check the answer and teach the students
