In the present age, personal characteristics of the educational leader is less important as compared to his capacity of responding to various kinds of situations. This essay talks about the significance of situational leadership in the present age in the domain of education. The educational leader having the capability of adapting to different kinds of situations can help in the assimilation of the students within the classroom. The leaders should be open to change that can help in the personal development of the students. The personal characteristics of a teacher has become less significant in the present age when there are diverse kinds of learners within the classroom. The teachers act as the leaders of the students who should be able to change their behaviour on the basis of the situations that is presented in front of them (Harris, 2005). The students in the classroom in the modern age have varying levels of the readiness and the teachers should be able to adjust in the classroom. A successful leader is able to work on the basis of the needs and the interests of the students. A teacher having great amount of knowledge in the present age but not being adaptive to the various kinds of situations would act as a great disadvantage for the teacher. The teacher having the capacity of responding to the various kinds of situations can help in developing the students within the classroom. It can help the teachers in building the rapport that helps in deriving the best potential from the students. It helps in maximising the abilities of the students that helps them in excelling in their academic life.
