INTRODUCTION
Business communication refers to the process of sharing relevant information of the
company within and outside of the organisation in effective manner (Boldosova and Luoto,
2019). For this following report, the IT company Brit-tech wants to develop an effective
communication within its working area for their employees. The report discuss some general
theories of organisational communication, barriers of communication and strategies to overcome
these barriers.
MAIN BODY
General theories for organisational communication
Organisational communication can be described as varied channels or hierarchy levels in
company which simplifies the internal as well as external interaction among employees, top
management and third parties. Effective and proper communication channels aids organisations
in coordinating business activities which further helps in attaining organisation goals. It also
assists in decision-making and problem-solving activities in organisation. Varied general theories
which are given by different authors in order to understand the effectiveness of communication
channels in context to Brit-Tech are as follows: Weber's classic organisational theory- Under this, certified organisational structure and
proper communication channels are defined by Weber. It states that clarified roles and
responsibilities are given to employees and a well-defined hierarchal levels are proposed
so that effective communication channels can be established in organisation (Chung and
Lee, 2019). Application of this theory in Brit-Tech can be beneficial in terms of creating
a clearly defined communication channels which helps in reducing any confusion. This
theory has suggested that all the employees should communicate in a well-defined
hierarchal chain and carry on their job role effectively. It also talks about maintaining a
well-defined hierarchal levels in organisation which starts from seniority. With the
application of this theory, Brit-Tech can build and maintain a exact hierarchal levels
which aids in maintaining a proper communication channels. Through this, roles and
responsibilities are clearly defined in organisational context. Weber suggested that
organisation structure is designed as bureaucratic as it provides equal attention to
employees. This can also design their roles and responsibilities in a well-defined manner.

This practice can bring clarity and accuracy in communication to take big decisions of
company. It also assists in creating structure in which makes employees productive and
improve their performance level. Hierarchal levels always cater effectiveness in
communication.
Deetz’s communicational Theory- This theory states that effective communication
channels plays a significant role in creating organisational culture. It suggests that
organisations works in a dynamic environment having high degrees of uncertainty (Enke
and Borchers, 2019). In this fluctuated business environment, top management of Brit-
Tech is desired to build effective communication channels which helps in critical
decision-making at the time of uncertain situations. It talks about effectiveness of
communication in differential business aspects. Top management of Brit-Tech can
implement this theory in operations as it will helps in identification and setting of
priorities. It will also aid in recognising the needs and wants of various stakeholders. It
helps in creating socialisation among employees. It essentially talks about democratic
aspirations of employees and identify power centres in organisation. With the
implementation of this theory in company, mangers of Brit- Tech are able to recognise
faceless expression of their employees in organisational context. Deetz principally
emphasizes on building communication channels to maintain socialisation in
organisation. This theory will help the managers of Brit-Tech in understanding
differential meaning of people's language which they do not possess in corporates.
Evaluating the barriers of communication that makes employees unwilling to return to the office
It is important for each and every organisation to have effective communication within
their working area in order to make their employees performance most effective. Maintaining
effective communication in working area make positive working environment as well as
improves their productivity and enables effectual teamwork in effective manner (Hearit, 2018).
The company face many barriers for making effective communication within its organisation. In
context of Brit-tech, the barriers that makes their employees unwilling in order to return to the
office are described below:
Physical barrier- This barriers generally effect the communication due to environmental
surroundings of the job. Some of the physical barriers found in Brit-tech are the layout of the
company that hinder the view of the employees, nature of the remote working area can make

communication efforts slow and literal closed doors in the company that discourage interaction
between the employees.
Emotional barrier- This barriers of communication arise due to the feelings of doubt or
anxiety in between the employees. It is analyse that intimidating supervisor of Brit-tech can
create anxiety in between the employees which discourage open discussion in between the
organisation.
Linguistic barrier- In this type of communication barriers used written, physical and
verbal method in order to convey a message to others. The problem is arise when the employees
knows different language, use unfamiliar slang, different dialects or vague body language create
communication gap in between the organisation.
Information overload- When manager of the organisation share important information
while meeting with colleagues, training new employees according to the policy and procedures
of the company or updating customers on their current campaign status, it is essential for the
company to provide central message (Lehmberg and Hicks, 2018). If the managers of Brit-tech
share too much information to the employees, it makes difficulty to them in order to conduct it in
effective manner.
Language barriers- When some employees' primary language are different from
others , it makes trouble and difficulty in order understand one another in effective manner. In
respect of Brit-tech, if there are multilingual and multicultural working environment create
difficulties in order to maintain effective communication within its organisation in effective
manner.
Outlining the Brit-tech strategies in order to overcome above barriers.
It is analysed that company face many barriers related to effective communication within
its organisation. It is important to make effective strategies in order to overcome these barriers in
effective manner. In case of Brit-tech, some strategies that helps in improving the
communication at their working area are described below:
Be fully present- In this strategies, it makes employees to take concentration and practise
in order to focus on others' opinion or ideas with an open mind in effective manner (Schwepker
Jr, 2019). It make employees of Brit-tech to listen attentively as well as wait till later in order to
provide feedback in effective manner. This will helps them to make effective communication
within their organisation as well as overcome barriers in appropriate manner.

Be specific in your information- It is important in the organisation to share relevant
details succinctly in order to make these information easy to remember and understand in
effective manner. It is important for Brit-tech to be concise as well as provide opportunities to
others in order to ask clarifying questions in order to make exchanging process of information
dynamic.
Use words and a tone that convey confidence- It is analyse that, it is important for the
managers as well as employees to eliminate useless words and phrases such as “um, like”, “ah”
and so on in their information because it distract audience in effective manner (Sollitto and
Cranmer, 2019). It is important for the people of Brit-tech that their voice should be optimistic as
well as their language should changed speed in order to reflect enthusiasm in effective manner.
Encourage questions- The company should be inviting and prompt others in order to ask
questions while communicating with them consistently. This assist them in order to view
different perspectives that can raise understanding and discovery of methods for avoiding
communication pitfalls that may rise in future. It is important for Brit-tech to develop open
dialogue working environment that helps in learning different communication styles and use
effective methods for meeting the needs of their employees in effective manner.
RECOMMENDATION
From the above discussion, it is recommended to Brit-tech Weber's classic organisational
theory and Deetz’s communicational theory are two most important organisational
communication theory that helps them to make effective communication within its working area
in effective manner. For making effective communication in their working area their employees
face many barriers in order to communicate with other as well as also make them unwilling in
order to come office. It is important for them to use effective strategies in order to overcome
these barriers in most effective manner. This will also helps them to make their employees more
productive and effective in order to conduct their work in appropriate manner.

From the above mentioned report, it is concluded that business communication help
companies to convey strong and clear message related to their strategies, customer service and
branding in effective manner. Weber's classic organisational theory as well as Deetz's
communicational theory help companies to develop effective communication in their

some effective barriers of communication that makes difficulty for the organisation to convey
