CE 2.2 Project Background
CE 2.2.1 Characteristics of the project
This was my first project in professional career. I started my work in the tender stage
by simply providing various quantities to the department of Tender and then assisting to
provide a cost-effective design in the primary stages. I even provided instructions to the
tendering team for providing lesser costing. Furthermore, I had even gone through the
compact design and then, provided the respective design brief report to show value addition
designs like reducing cable sizes, the sizes of the cable trays, and even the sizes of breaker.
For completing the drawings of lighting layout, with the help of the Dialux software with the
details of circuitry, power layouts, cable layouts, single-line diagram with the voltage drop
calculations. I had also visited that site for understanding the site condition as well as

reviewing the major intake supplies. Therefore, I have executed the project with proper
standards by providing a complete design of electrical circuitry.
CE 2.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
The electrical circuit is the path that allows electrons to flow either from voltage or
from current. I had to follow a set of standards for getting a proper and desired outcome.
There were a couple of activities that were required to be executed perfectly. This project had
started with providing a preliminary design or skeleton drawings for low voltage and extra
low voltage. The skeletons for low voltage were made for lighting layout with Dialux, power
as well as cable routing layout. For Extra Low voltage, I have made skeletons for IT/TEL,
public address and security services. Since, I was doing ELV design for the first time, this
project was extremely vital for me. Therefore, in order to complete my project and generating
power by designing an electric circuit, I have developed the following objectives:
To view the design of facility layout with the necessary components as well as items.
To make an estimate of the optimal BOQ for a better design or layout making.
To utilize the software of Dialux for the lighting layout preparation and the software
of DOC to prepare main single-line diagram within the process.
To prepare the Contract Document and Contract Report.
To verify the respective electrical contractor drawing submission.
To use effective ways for estimating the drop in voltage within the circuitry with the
facility design.
CE 2.2.3 My area of work
I was appointed as the Senior Design Engineer in design and build for this entire
project. My working part mainly included reviewing the conceptual buildings, contract
drawings, as well as BOQs from client. I even made the execution drawings under this

project to prepare lighting and power layouts, cable routing with the cable sizes, conduit, and
many more. I also had maintained a proper team of drafters for getting help. My other areas
of work included getting involved with any other department like billing, procurement and
site teams. Being a part of procurement team, I took part in the Techno commercial meeting
with the vendors. After procurement team, I was the part of a billing team, where I Bills and
Variations Orders. Finally, as the part of a site team, I coordinated with the team for
identifying any type of changes whenever required. I was involved in supervising the
electrical works during project execution. I was also involved in the approval of the testing,
commissioning and Factory Acceptance Test or FAT of all electrical equipment. I have
Dialux software for the layout design of lighting.

CE 2.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
During the project, I was assigned for visiting the site for understanding the project,
and reviewing the respective concept drawing and I even got a report that included the Bill of
Quantities. This particular BOQ included the additional items that were required to complete
the project. Moreover, many items that were provided in BOQ were not being shown within
the drawings or vice versa. I even checked for the measurements or the quantities for each
and every item that was provided within the BOQ. My other responsibilities included
requesting information for getting better clarity over the project. I along with my team even
had undergone the preliminary execution of drawings and calculation of voltage drop, in
