The emotional cues which were there in this case at the workplace where individuals
should take concern as to how effectively there are no differences at the workplace. The
emotional cues were described as — someone was bullied, someone lacks social skills,
colleagues being upset of each other (Hardavella and et.al., 2017)
I will be responding to this type of situation by understanding what are the problems
which have taken place and how the communication and issues between the colleagues can be
solved by adapting positive environment at workplace.
Emotional intelligence plan helps in denoting the aspects as what are the areas of
improvement and the aspects in which the self – development is been taken into concern at large
scale.
TOPIC-3
Promoting the development of emotional intelligence in others
Emotional intelligence refers to managing own emotions in order to have the positive interaction
with others at the workplace. It is important for the managers to promote the emotional
intelligence in the employees at the workplace (Coffelt, Grauman and Smith, 2019). It ensures
the effective interaction among the managers and the employees. This can be promoted with the
help of creating the opportunities for the employees to in order to express their thoughts and
promoting the efficient listening techniques. The major purpose of this is to understanding the
behaviour & emotion of the employees at the workplace.
Activity:
Difference between verbal and non-verbal communication
Verbal communication Non-verbal communication
It refers to using of message in order to
make interaction with the employees.
This enables the employees to express
their thoughts with the help of speaking
to the manager.
This has been proven as effective form
of communication while addressing the
issues of the workers at the workplace.
It involves using of non-facial
expression and body language for
making interaction with the employees
in the organization.

If the effective gesture has been
maintained that this creates the sense of
comfortability to the listener.
Managing non-verbal communication at the workplace
The non-verbal communication involve the gestures of the manager towards the employees. This
has been considered as one of the important concept managing the different aspects of the
employees (Hastings and et.al., 2020). Using effective tone and gestures while interacting with
the members results in creating the effective communication among the members and mangers. I
will use these ways in order to maintain effective non-verbal communication at the workplace:
Effective tone has to be used.
Body language has to be match with the words.
After every sentence there is a pause required.
Effective gesture has to be used by the managers.
An effective eye contact has to be maintained with the employees as it helps in getting
the idea in relation of the comfortability level of the workers.
The major purpose of the non-verbal communication is to ensure the emotional attachment at the
workplace among the employees as effective gesture and posture helps in managing the effective
interaction with the employees.
Effective listening skills
Listening and speaking is the major element of the communication. The listening skill has been
considered as the necessary concept in making effective communication. A listening skill has
been adopted by the effective listener while listening to the speaker. At workplace, the effective
listening by manager helps in promoting the emotional intelligence. For example: When
employees share their issues with the manger and in return when manger puts a keen focus over
their problems and listen them carefully (Yurko and Styfanyshyn, 2020). Then this results in
understanding the emotional aspect of the employees. The effective listening skills contains:
Paying effective attention to the employees while they share their problems.
Providing feedback to the employees after hearing their issues.
Share the response at the end of the conversation. The response shows that the listener
has take the active part in listening the problem.

Discussion in relation of the effective listening skills take place among the Student A and student
B
As student A give the information to student B. And then the student B has given the
information to the class. If all the information has been heard in clear manner without having any
disturbance then it determines that the effective listening skills has been done possessed by the
student B. Student B has described all the information to other members of the class. And of
them has got the correct information. This clearly determines that student B has clearly listened
to the Student A. The major element of the effective listening skills are, paying attention,
providing feedback and sharing the response. It has been done by the student B. Thus, it can be
said that here the active listening has been applied.
Emotional intelligence development plan for Karen
The emotional intelligence plan refers to analysing own strength and weakness that affects the
other people's emotion at the workplace (Fayazova, 2018). As a manager it is important that I
have to make a keen focus over self-management of the employees in the organization. As from
the case study it has been found out that Karen is not managing her emotions and pointing out
the culture of the Steve at the workplace. And this results in creating the large number of
disturbance in the team members. Therefore, here is the EI plan for the Karen that will guide her:
