responsibility and performance of carers (employees) of a nursing care home. Beside this,
interpersonal and transferable skills are also included. Roles of people in a team and how they
work for achievement of shred goals is also form a part of this assignment. At the end of this
report, strategies for problem solving are also included.

1.1) Set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
A nursing care home is an institution which provides residential accommodation to old
age or elderly people with proper healthcare and medical facility. Skilled and qualified
employees and carer are appointed by a nursing care home to look after the heath and medical

maintain effective communication inside the organisation to ensure the fulfilment of needs and
intension of elderly people. Effective communication is also necessary in an nursing home to
provide better companionship and belongingness feeling to elderly people which is necessary for
providing a better home like feeling and building better relationship (Bordean and Sonea, 2018) .
Team Bonding- Proper services and facilities can only provided through proper
coordination of various team. Effective communication and bonding between all team members
is necessary so that work can be properly allocated and distributed between all teams members.
Team bonding ensures that no work will remain left or delayed and also improves productivity
and performance of all carers. It is the responsibility of all carers to maintain the team bonding
which will reduce the chances of conflicts and overlapping of work.
Time management- in a nursing home it is necessary that all the work should be done on
time as delay in medicine and other facilities can be hazardous for the health of older people. It is
the responsibility of all carer to timely provided the meals, medicine and other facilitates which
are required by patient and older people of nursing home (Jorre de St Jorre and Oliver, 2018) .
Monitor hygiene level- This responsibility includes all the activities that are required to
maintain a clean, comfortable, safe, pleasant and orderly environment at nursing home. The carer
of nursing home should regularly monitor that whether rooms are cleaned regularly, bed sheets
are timely changed or not and should conduct all other activities which are necessary for
maintaining proper hygiene level.
Performance objectives
The performance objectives for role of carer at a nursing home includes:
To provide excellent patient centred care- It is the main objective of all carers to
provided best possible care to its patient and older people (Nisha and Rajasekaran, 2018)
. It includes timely mediation and meditation facility to maintain the proper health and
lower the stress of elder people. It is the main target of any carer of nursing home to
provide timely medical assistant and check up to its patients and they should follow the
medical plan to provide maximum satisfaction and comfort to its services respondents.

connection between housekeeping, nutrition, pharmacology and floor carer is necessary
to provide overall patient care, experience and satisfaction.
To timely fulfil all the basic needs- It is one of the most important performance
objective of a carer to fulfil all the basic needs of older people on time which includes
timely providing food, medicines and other personal care services to maintain hygiene.
1.2) Own effectiveness against defined objectives
Evaluation of effectiveness of own performance and skills is a quite complex process
and also require a depth research to analysis the current performance level. I am working as a
carer for a Nursing care home from last two years. My nursing home is having 3 levels and on
each each level their are 20 rooms and 5 carers are appointed at each level to fulfil the duties. My
level of performance is satisfactory and I tried to fulfil all my objectives and responsibility.
Effectiveness of my performance is described below:
Proper team bonding and collaboration is maintained by me through developing my
interpersonal skills but still some conflicts and chaos get arises between me and other 4
cares who are working at my level.
I am having the responsibility of providing timely medicine and food to older people
which is propel y fulfilled by me without any delay but some time meditation and Yoga
classes are not organised by me on time.
1.3) Recommendation
Following recommendation can be made to improve the efficiency of my performance:
Better communication- It is recommended that effective communication between the
carers of nursing home should be established to reduces the conflicts and chaos. Various
team bonding activities and employee engagement programmes are recommended to
develop a better understanding and communication between all team members and carers.
Effective time management- Efforts should be made by carers to perform their task on
time so that all the facility and services can be provided on time. Work should be
properly distributed among the team members to ensure that they will perform their task
on time without any delay.

1.4) Motivational technique to improve quality performance.
Use of motivational theory is made to provide direction and guidance to employees so
that their performance can be improved for achievement of goals and targets. Use of two factor
theory is made to improve the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation level of employees.
Two factor theory of motivation
This theory of Herzberg's argues that there are some factors at every organisation which
can be used or adjust to influence the employees (Piopiunik and et. al., 2018) . Theses factors are
further categories into two main category:
Motivators- Theses factors encourage employees to wok harder and includes elements
like recognisation, achievement, advancement, growth opportunity, etc.
Hygiene factor- Absence of hygiene factor cause demotivation in employees and include
the most basic needs and factors like company policies, supervision, work conditions, salary,
security, etc (Small, Shacklock and Marchant, 2018).
Use of these factors can be made by any nursing care home to motivate its employees.
Hygiene factor will develop the better relation between team member as it includes factors
related with work culture and motivator factors will motivate an employee to improve its
performance for better recognition and growth opportunity.
TASK 2
2.1. Development of Solution to Work-based Problem
Within a nursing care home, individuals come across several appropriate and effective
problems, which are necessary to be addressed in order to appropriately and effectively deliver
services to the patients. Furthermore, addressing the problem is also necessary as within nursing
care home, it is very essential that consistency is maintained in addressing the needs of patients
(AV and Aithal, 2018).
Hence, below are some problems which I faced within the care home and strategies used
to solve them:
Conflict:
One of the major work based problems which was witnessed by me was associated with
several conflicts within carers about the care that must be given to patients within their level.
One such situation took place while dealing with a patient of arthritis. Furthermore, issue for

which the conflict took place was related to manual handling. There were three carers involved
within the scenario which was disrupting the overall environment of the nursing care home.
However, there are several strategies which must be adopted by an individual or team in order to
solve the overall conflict (Donald, Baruch and Ashleigh, 2019). Quite an effective solution
towards solving this issue is effective and appropriate communication. This requires a correct
procedure, methods and measures for manual handling to be communicated within the overall
organisation, which would be helping in informing the organisation regarding the accurate
functioning while dealing with the service users.
Ineffective Organisational Culture:
Another work-based problem is related to ineffective organisational culture. Throughout
my time within the nursing care home, there were several instances which reflected an
inappropriate culture within the organisation. For example, there was no training or self regard
related to safety adherence and personal hygiene (Sharma, 2018). This is a major problem as the
nursing home accommodates and attends elderly individuals, who are required to be dealt with
utmost safety and adherence to hygiene adherence. A solution to this problem within the care
home is to provide effective training to the staff and drafting several policies that are related to
establish hygiene practices within the care home.
2.2. Communication in Variety of Styles and Appropriate Manner at Various Levels
Communication is a process of sharing crucial information within an organisation. For
solutions to work based problems, there are certain strategies developed which are necessary to
be communicated within the care home. Thus, some of these styles and certain levels are
discussed below:
Lower Level Management:
This level comprises of Medical Students and Physician Assistants, who are responsible
towards handling the overall operational functions of the care home. Intuitive Communication
Style is utilised within this management level within this level of the organisation to
communicate the strategy. This is because this style is utilised when the communication has to
established in a casual and informal way. Reason for the same is that individuals at this level are
confined with only taking instructions by professionals without indulging into details.
Middle Level Management:
5
Document Page
This level incorporates specialists, doctors and other medical professionals. In terms of
communication, Functional Communication Style must be adopted to communicate the
strategy. It is because they are required to be aware about the plan and essentials related to the
strategy to implement the same appropriately.
Upper Level Management:
All the staff at hospital administration, Specialist Surgeons and Deans are incorporated
within this level. Since they are the ones who authorise the strategy, Formal Communication
Style is then required to be adopted, which is composed of assertive communication related to
the strategy and effective analytical projections in relation to forecasted benefits for the
organisation (Bell, Cake and Mansfield, 2018).
2.3. Identification of Time Management Strategies
Within a nursing care home, there are several issues and problems that are required to be
addressed within the due time. Furthermore, time management strategies are required to be
identified, assessed and implemented in context of managing the situations and issues as
effectively as possible in terms of time. Thus, some of these strategies are discussed below: Prioritisation: One of the most effective strategy to manage time is related to
prioritisation. This refers to considering some of the most complex activities and holding
them above others in terms of addressing due to their complex nature. For instance, in
context of conflicts, the priority must be to immediately communicate with the parties
involved individually, before setting up strategies to solve the issue, in order to acquire
perspectives of each of the members included.
Planning: Another time management strategy is associated with planning the overall
strategy well in advance which would allow in saving time. For instance, taking up
several measures before hand to ensure that conflicts does not arise would help in dealing
with the issue in an appropriate and effective manner (Drange, Bernstrøm and
Mamelund, 2018).

level and reflects the defects or inefficiency in operations of organisations so that actions can be
taken to eliminate or reduce that effects. Use of this tool can be made by nursing care home to
establish a benchmark level for improving its standard of hygiene and making its organisational
culture more effective.
Key performance indicator( KPI)- Use of this tool is made to check or control the
