Introduction:
This report aims to discuss the personal and professional development of myself as an
individual through this particular coursework by knowing as well as analyzing myself along
with the industry in which I shall be selected and be operative in future.
Know yourself:
I am currently studying management course in a reputed university of the UK that
mainly focusses on the courses regarding the hospitality industry.
Identifying key strengths through Johari window and Gallup test:
In order to understand the key strengths in my personality, I have taken two tests like
Johari window and Gallup test. The first one reveals how much I know myself and how the
people in my group see me. It is the process of giving and receiving the feedback so that the
persons get to know the areas where they need to improve. By revealing the exposed as well
as the hidden qualities. There are four panes present in the window which consists of façade,
blond spot, hidden and unknown ones. In my case, most of the qualities that I possess are
known to me therefore, the questionnaire I completed had matched my peer also. These
qualities include idealistic, spontaneous, powerful, bold, knowledgeable, independent
empathetic and many more (Koca and Erigüç 2019). In the blind spot there are qualities
which I never felt but are visible to the others. These include qualities like sentimental,
sensible, organized, and mature and others. The hidden pane includes the qualities like
complex, nervous, shy, reflective and quiet that others do not know but I feel those properly.
Finally the qualities present in me which I as well as others do not know include searching
and tense qualities.
Similarly in the gall up strength finder I have found that there are some very
important factors that I possess for developing myself to gain success in the future (Oliver

and Duncan 2019). The gall up strength finder has revealed that I possess the qualities like
input, responsibility, relator, and intellection and include. The responsibility factor helps me
to identify my interest for taking responsibilities in the critical situation this quality has
helped me to be honest and loyal to the organizations I am attached. I do what I say and take
psychological ownership for solving the situation. The input quality makes me a
knowledgeable person who inputs al information and use them when the time comes. I prefer
to share my knowledge and concepts with the others so that they can understand my
perception. I am a relator which reflects my preference to develop healthy relations with
others (Gamayanto et al. 2019). I provide any type of effort to my peers so that the goal we
need to achieve, must be done within desired time. I am an includer that reveals my
empathetic quality to include those who feel left out in the group. Being an introspective
person I get the scope for reflection so that I can make an ordinary service quite extraordinary
that fulfills my intellection skill.
Application of elements of these theories:
Despite the fact that I aim to flourish myself in near future and take a prestigious
position in the hospitality sector, I want to start my own business. By serving this sector for
two decades, I will have a clear idea how the organostions in this sector work actually. The
insights I have gained from these theories or test, I will find out the actual situation of my
personal growth. This will guide me in developing the professional qualities and achieving
the future aspirations. Through these skills, mentioned before, I will be able to find out the
ways I need to walk to become a successful person in the organizations and effectively serve
my stakeholders. There are several issues developing in the current business culture that
relates to the human resource, service to the customers and maintaining competitive edge in
the hospitality sector. Therefore, when I can fully differentiate the strengths from my

weaknesses, I can transform the latter to the former. I help the people to demonstrate
empathy, sensitivity and love that differentiate me from the others in the same level.
Know your sector:
Compare and contrast two companies in your sector:
As I aim to work in the hospitality sector in the UK, I have found out two companies
working best in this sector of the country. These two major organizations are Bourne
Holidays Ltd and Red Carnation Hotels. Bourne Holidays Ltd, operates 13 hotels across the
United Kingdom under the name of Warner Leisure hotels. It was founded in 1984 operating
from Hempstead. These hotel are exclusively for the adult couples but include restaurants,
rooms, sports place, leisure club, live entertainment, spa and spa pool, resort, swimming pool,
sauna bath, auditorium and the steam rooms (Bourneleisuresales.co.uk 2019).
Similarly, Red Carnation Hotels is a family operated collection and renowned for its
impeccable service. Each of the hotel in red carnation Hotel chain is a landmark of tradition
and history. Every one of them are individually designed and reputed for its exclusive dining
experience (Thetravelcorporation.com 2019). It is award winning boutique hotels in Ireland,
South Africa Switzerland and North America. Starting from the magnificent Ashford castle in
the Ireland historical mention like hotel in London and iconic oyster box hotel in South
Africa. Which one of the hotel of this collection a unique and its features a personal approach
to hospitality. Unlike the previous one this hotel collection also has exceptional reputation for
its dining, spas sumptuous surroundings and exceptional hospitality. Moreover this
organization has taken major environmental initiative and supports the community associated
with it.
