INTRODUCTION
Employability skills are required to gain a good job within an organization. Through
these skills, they get familiar with the colleagues. In this manner they can solve issues and
work for the betterment of the business. This report shows the working of NHS hospital.
NHS hospital services are run and managed by NHS trusts, which make sure that hospitals
provide high-quality health care, and that money is, spent efficiently (Janhonen and
Johanson, 2011). They also decide on strategies for hospital developments. It includes the
skills which are required in terms of communication and leadership. This research report is
about identifying the own responsibilities and performance within the hotel industry. It also
focuses on establishing interpersonal skills which are required in solving company’s issues.

1.1 Developing responsibility and performance objectives
Being working as a care taker in NHS health care centre, my responsibility will be
towards the patient who is approaching for care. My centre role is to supply best services to
the patients and also having a great interpersonal relation with them. Performance of
personnel is reasoned as a backbone of NHS hospital in order to render effectual and
progressive result. Furthermore, to take care of them my duty to take their order that what
patients are in need of (Ma and Qu, 2011). This is because these nurses, doctors and other
senior staff do not feel lazy and drowsy and can perform their duty with best of their capacity
and effectual behaviour. In context to this, some of my own responsibility and performance
objectives are stated below:
 I will concentrate on raising my performance so that I can give my best of the result in
order to render effective services to the patients.
 Developing effective communication with patients so that I can understand their
needs and problems efficiently.
 I will try to behaviour training and development session with the approval of higher
potency as it will increase the knowledge of other care takers and nurses.
1.2 Evaluating own effectiveness against performance objectives
I will be developing a team of health care workers which will assist me in taking some
crucial decisions for the achievement of business goals. In order to some calculations and
forecasts, computers will be used by the employees. This will make the operations easier and

simpler on daily basis. My priority will be to develop a team of efficient employees who will
contribute their maximum towards the company.
Working as a care taker in NHS health care centre, the performance goals will be as
follows: Grooming session- Personal grooming sessions will bring improvements in my work.
In this manner I will be able to attain the goals with more efficiency and productivity.
Furthermore, this grooming session will help me to get more of the knowledge which
will make my profile as a care taker more productive (Kerzner, 2013). Learning Different languages- I am required to learn different types of languages as
I will be dealing with patients from different geographical backgrounds. Not only
English but I need to learn French and German language also (Janhonen and
Johanson, 2011). In this manner I will be able to understand the problems of the
patients in more effective manner.
 Communication skills- Good communication skills will help in developing strong
bonding with the patients. Hence it will help me to become more responsive towards
their needs and requirements.
1.3 Recommendations for improvement
Being working as a care taker in NHS hospital, I will centre on improving a
flourishing hospital image by giving great service to patients as well as to the NHS hospital
(Smit and et.al, 2012). There are some anterior areas where I lack and have to do importantly
well in order to overcome. Field for my improvement are: Workers Interpersonal relation- I need to develop good behaviour relations with my
colleagues, team members, nurses etc. Knowing their experiences will help me in
understanding my responsibilities in better manner. Effective connection- There is also a need to maintain and develop an effective
communication with the patients which will help in identifying the problems that they
are facing. In the health care institutions, doctors, nurses will need great cooperation
between them. Hence this facilitates effective flow of information at all the levels. Measuring possibility- This approach will help the company is generating new
solutions so that more and more branches can be opened in other countries. (Ma and
Qu, 2011).

 Response- Taking feedbacks from the patients will also help in finding improvements.
It is also helpful in generating valuable suggestions so that strong relations can be
maintained.
1.4 Motivational techniques to improve performance
The use of different motivational techniques will help the different health care people
to work with best efficiency so that personal as well as professional goals can be achieved.
 By supplying significant and difficult task- This approach will help in judging the
capabilities and skills of the employees. Involving the people in complex tasks and
operations will make them motivated towards the work (Kerzner, 2013). Setting broad targets- Doing successful operations and treatments will give a
sense of achievement and motivation among the people (Janhonen and Johanson,
2011). This will help in boosting the moral of the workers and treat the patients
with care and importance.
 Scheming role and using strengths- When doctors make use of their strengths on
regular basis, they usually become more confident and focused. This develops internal
motivation among the people. Allocating tough roles and duties also inspire the health
care workers to deliver their best in every task they do (employee motivation, 2015).
Maslow’s theory of motivation is a very effective approach which can be used in giving
motivation to the workers. It is mostly concerned with satisfying the professional needs of the
employees (Ma and Qu, 2011). Under the theory there are different levels of needs which are
to be satisfied in order to achieve better results.
These are:
 Self-actualization needs- It is the highest level of satisfaction. Generally it is very hard
to reach to this level because it takes a very long period of time.
 Esteem needs – It is about gaining self-respect and good reputation within the
company. Employees feel very motivated if they are appreciated for their work.
 Social needs- It includes the working environment of the company. It is about mutual
affection and the environment that the people shares with each other.
 Safety needs- People wish to work in an environment which is safe and secure. Hence
they must be given the facilities such as medical insurance, financial services, life
insurance etc

 Psychological needs- These includes the basic working conditions which are needed
by the employees. These are air, water, food etc.

2.1 Solution to work based problem
NHS hospital is a health care organization which provides care and treatment. Health
care Organization at times lacks effective communication skills which are slowly and steadily
becoming a major disadvantage for the hospital project. In some conditions, it becomes a
place of differences between patients and doctors (Ma and Qu, 2011). Acting as a care taker,
my obligation is to remove this hindrance from hospital services in order to have a better and
effective working. As more discontent, will lead to discontented patients and it will affect the
hospital image as well as their profits. To surmount this difficulty, few factors are
implemented:
NHS is an organization which offers high level health and care services to the patients.
The company lacks some effective communication skills between the supervisors and
employees (Kerzner, 2013). It has become major issue for the operations of the organization.
It is creating difference between the employees as there is no coordination. As a care taker it
is my responsibility to avoid this issue so that services can become more effective.
 Interpersonal relation aspect- Developing good relations with the patients will help
in retaining the patients for a long period of time. This will leave a better impression
on the minds of the people (Smit and et.al., 2012).
 Administrating education and improvement program- I will focus on conducting a
training and development program for the doctors and nurses. This will lead to
development of good communication skills with the patients.
2.2 Various approaches and styles to communicate problems
Communication plays an important role in a place like health care institution. It is
essential for achieving success and maintaining a good working environment. Better
communication avoid confusion and implement all the activities with effectiveness (Janhonen
and Johanson, 2011). Interpersonal skills are those which are used within daily operations.
People having interpersonal skills can achieve good personal as well as professional
development.
Employability skills are to be used with optimum utilization. Healthy relations
between the co-workers make all the things executed in better manner. Being a care taker I

will be fulfilling all my responsibilities with my maximum potential. I will try to deal with
the issues by using a focused approach. Suggestions from the doctors and nurses will be
welcomed at all the levels (Ma and Qu, 2011). A proper communication channel will be
established so that information can be spread in seamless manner.
Furthermore top level management can also be involved in avoiding the issues. They
can be involved so that a better understanding of the situation can be gained. Good
communication methods can be used to flow the messages (Kerzner, 2013). At the lower
level, all the practical issues can be resolved in order to achieve more effectiveness.
2.3 Effective time management strategies
NHS hospital is required to establish SMART goals for its employees to achieve quality.
 Specific - It sets specific goals which are to be achieved
 Measurable – It includes targets which are of measurable nature
 Attainable – The target is required to be achieved within stipulated period of time
 Realistic – Some realistic goals are to be placed.
 Timely- Proper action plan need to implement in order to fulfil tasks on time
Time management strategies play a crucial role in order to complete a requisite task
on time. These strategies will help me in completing my work on time and lead me to achieve
my individual as well as hospital organization goals. Various time management strategies are
as follows: Temporal arrangement of work- I need to record as how much time a particular
patient consumes and what amount of energy is sustained in order to treat him
(Janhonen and Johanson, 2011). Bendable- For effective time management within NHS hospital, it is my
responsibility to save a sufficient amount of time in case of emergency which can
come at anytime. For this, I have to keep ready a panel of doctors and nurses (Time
management skill, 2014). Prioritizing- Being a care taker, I have to prioritize all the appointments of patients
according to their time schedule. As this point states, this will help me to effectually
manage the work which is most important and which least. Moreover, prioritize
appointments will become an objective of mentioned organization and they have to
satisfy their customers in order to achieve the goals and objectives (Smit and et.al,
2012).

 Winding up of work- I have to make conclusive time records of each doctor and nurse
in order to calculate that how much time they are investing for a particular patient
treatment (Ma and Qu, 2011).

4.1 Tools and methods for developing solutions
As a worker in the NHS hospital, doctors and nurses are dissatisfied due to very high
work load. This leads to motivation among the employees. There is a need to adopt different
types of tools and techniques in order to offer solution to this issue. Benchmarking can be
used so that actual performance can be measured with the desired performance. With regard
to that comparison of annual accounts and reports can be done for the previous year and
existing year (Kerzner, 2013). Personal interactions with the health care workers will help in
knowing their issues and requirements.
NHS hospital is an organization where there is always an uncertainty that patient
might be coming. In order to boost their morale, I will give them feedback for each and every
successful or treatments. However, work pressure is also another reason which is leading to
job dissatisfaction among doctors and nurses of NHS hospital
NHS is a place where there is always an uncertainty that patients may face with
critical situations. Giving them feedbacks for their efforts at regular intervals will help a lot.
Feedback will be given on all the treatments (Smit and et.al, 2012). This will assist in
identifying the errors and loopholes in the services. Work pressure has been identified as the
reason which is giving job dissatisfaction to the people.
4.2 Appropriate strategy for resolving the problem
Company looks to recruit employees from the external sources. These sources include
walk-inns, advertisements etc. Internet channel can also be used for the purpose of
employment. It is the most cheap and faster mode for recruitment (Janhonen and Johanson,
2011). Many firms make use of online mediums to recruit people for their business. E-
advertising has proved to be very effective in targeting the potential candidates.
Through solving the above issue, I will be able to attain a competent position within
the hospitality sector. For reducing the work load, I will be using segmentation strategy.
Under it I will divide the work into small parts .This will make the completion of activities

easier. Working in 2-3 shits can be a better option. All this will depend on the standing
situation (Ma and Qu, 2011). This will lead to timely achievement of goals and objectives for
the NHS hospital. This will also provide better health services to the users and patients.
Monetary and non-monetary advantages will encourage the workers to perform their tasks
with best efforts. Financial performance of the company will get enhanced.
In order to motivate the workers, the mentioned hospital can focus on giving financial
and non-financial benefits so that workers can be motivated. Financial benefits includes
incentives, commission, bonuses, and conveyance allowance and varied other methods
(Kerzner, 2013). If the workers are paid extra for their services, they will perform it in better
manner. Non-monetary benefits can be in form of respect, recognition, status etc.
4.3 Potential impact of implementing strategy
The NHS institution can gain positive results if their employees work with good
motivation. Motivated employees are able to work with better efficiency and productivity.
Their efforts are reflected in their respective performances. The patients will feel good if the
workers will perform their duties with honesty (Janhonen and Johanson, 2011). For instance
extracurricular activities can be organized so that a joyful environment can be maintained.
This will have a positive impact on the organizational performance. A quality culture can
be reflected in all the activities (Ma and Qu, 2011). Satisfied employees will be able to
deliver more productive results. Their efforts will contain high amount of energy which will
be productive for the business. Apart from that there is a need to develop warm and pleasant
working culture.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it can be concluded that employability skills are very important
for the survival of an individual. In the health and care industry, every professional needs
development of certain skills which contributes towards the development. They are required
to set their own targets and set of responsibilities. This research report has discussed that
employability skills makes the individual more efficient. They are able to take their decisions
by using a more focused approach. Working in a team is also beneficial. It reduces the work
pressures and achieves the stated targets. Application of various time management strategies
is also very important and it leads to saving of efforts.
