Motivation is a useful fooltool in an organization and can be used effectively to help improve the performance ofemployees for purposes of increasing the business revenue (Holten and Brenner, 2015). Thispaper will look at some of the most important ways of motivating employees. There are variousmethods of employee motivation and this paper will look at some of the most successful methodsgiven the dynamics that are in the current market. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a frameworkis one of the most efficient frameworks for employee motivation that this paper will use. It is thebest framework especially when dealing with people and not statistics. The modern-day businessenvironment is dynamic, challenging and is full of competition. Employee motivation is vital andthus needs a lot of attention and sacrifice on the part of the entire management. Maslow’shierarchy of needs is simple framework that can bring a lot of changes to an organization. It isalso very understandable and thus can be used to motivate employees. Employee motivationThe evolution of the concept of employee motivation evolved through the identificationof the needs of the organization to maintain a smoothly functioning workforce to the objectivesof the businesses. The early concepts of motivation are based on the identification of thebehavioral instincts that affects the functioning of the organizations based on the needs of thechange in the market. Employees often have the tendency of adopting a specific speed ofcarrying out their responsibilities. The psychologists who wrote in the 19th centuries stated thatthe humans are programmed to behave in certain ways where appreciation and recognition playsa major role in keeping the people motivated. it is based on the understanding of the needs of thepeople that the smooth functioning of the organization can be endowed. on the other hand, thedevelopment of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs has helped in identifying the different needs ofthe people working in the organization. This is the average speed, average effort and averagecreativity that is within the legal requirement. While there is nothing wrong with this, it isessential that employees go the extra mile. The only possible way to encourage employees toimprove their performance above the standard requirements is to motivate them. The use ofincentives can easily get a positive outcome. Employees love motivation. Human nature oftenrequires some sort of inducement. Therefore, motivation acts as a perfect tool to increasebusiness performance.
