CHAPTER 1- INTRODUCTION
Background of the study
Retail sector of the UK is facing the effective growth and development which is
offering the various opportunities of employment that indicates its appropriate performance the
particular sector is having an integral part of UK GDP which has 5.2%. There is greater
contribution of the particular sector in overall employment opportunities which indicates
effectual performance of firm that shows good indication of growth regarding this industry
(Chiat and Panatik, 2019). In the current era, there are various issues which is faced by the firm
due to several factors which are required to be focused by the firm in effectual pattern in turn
significant pattern of competitiveness can be achieved. Employee turnover refers to the total
number of workers who have leave company over a certain period time. It is the negative aspect
that is related with affecting the organizational performance as it decreases the efficiency of the
company so that effective accomplishing of organizational objective can not become possible.
The main reason behind increase of the employee turnover is due to dissatisfaction from
job, improper remuneration lower personal development, etc. which are basically focused by
firm in turn elimination can be done (Wilson, 2018). Incline in the employee turnover rate has
the major level of the negative impact on the overall performance of the employees which
require the firm to focus on the roots ta are resulting into it as this leads to create the major
unfavorable impact on the functioning of enterprise. It is affects the overall work performance of
particular enterprise that is required to be taken into the procedure so that spoilage of brand
image can be eliminated to have positive influence on the functioning of business. The main fact
behind this is that it can lead to various crucial challenges such as higher cost for employee
acquiring, retaining, giving training to new employees, etc. these all can highly influence the
overall functioning of business which is required to be improved so that taking actions that can
avoid the possibilities of rise of such issues.
The current study is based on Marks and Spencer which is one of the successful
organization operating in retail sector by offering varied products such as clothing, footwear, etc
so that accomplishing the organizational objectives accomplishing has become possible (Çelik,
2018). For this purpose the current investigation will focus on having the significant information
so that accomplishing the objectives can become possible. In addition to this, the accomplishing
of the objectives of the research will be done with help of using deductive approach &
