Energy conservation in homes Energy conservation in homes depends on the principle that energy can neither be created or destroyed but rather be converted from one form to another. Hence for domestic or home energy conservation, it's upon occupants to implement energy-saving tips by either reducing main grid consumption dependence by substituting the conventional electric power sources with the renewable electric power sources such as the use of solar panels or windmills to convert wind kinetic energy to electric energy for domestic use. The second way of conserving energy is through regulationon energy consumptionthrough the use of electricgadgetswith less consumption rate, regulating the use of some electrical appliances, that is connecting to a power source when the need arises. The safety of our homes and kids depends on how we use electrical appliances, the type of appliances we use, and the type of wiring in homes. First, to be safe and free from electrical hazards, the wiring system in my home is done in line with the required standards: the sockets line connection is made differ5ent with the lighting line connection with each line having a recommended fuse rating. The safety of the appliance depends on the wire used. Copper wire is used for home wiring since it is not susceptible to temperature fluctuation hence minimized risk of fire as compared to aluminum cables. The socket lines all have the earthling system that runs deep into the ground to protect the appliances in case there is a power surge. For the safety of kids, the sockets used have a spring-loaded shutter that only opens when equal pressure is applied to both shutters. Therefore, kids cannot insert foreign metallic objects in the sockets exposing them to the risk of being electro circuited. House wiring is fitted with ground fault circuit interrupters that promote safety by quickly shutting off the power when electricity
flowing differ by any slight amount from that returning. All the indoor areas where there is a possibility of water flow getting in contact with electrical wiring systems such as kitchen worktables, bathrooms are fitted with GFCIs. The cost of monthly electrical bills is more on change of habits. The habits that have facilitated electric cost reduction are as follows reducing the electrical HVAC systems by improvising natural techniques like creating windbreak on the north of the house, planting deciduous trees around the building, t provide a natural cool breeze to supplement ventilators. Always turn off light when not in use, and during the day encourage the use of natural daylight, this saves up to 20% lighting cost. Regulate the HVAC by limiting its operations when fewer occupants are in the room, and this saves up to 5% of the monthly energy HVAC cost. Encourage free flow of air into the room In conclusion, home safety and electricity cost conservation is a personal initiative that, when embraced by the general public, could save the national grid energy conservation. People should embrace the use of renewable energy sources with little or no emission of greenhouse gas; hence would ensure environmental safety and reduce global warming effects.
