ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT
Introduction
A project has been undertaken to install an assembly line of packaging machine. The
project aims in installation of 9 plastic injection machine and 2 new drilling machine. The entire
project is implemented by making use of the resources of the company. A project schedule has
been developed that indicates that the project is completed within 80 days. The report will
provide the details of the work breakdown structure, project dependency matrix, network
diagram and the critical path along with the Gantt chart plan.
2. Assumptions
The schedule for the project “Installing an Assembly Line of Packaging Machines”
has been prepared based on the information provided. However, there are certain assumptions
associated with this project. These assumptions are as follows-
1. It is assumed that the resources assignment will be available when needed and there
will be no case of resource over allocation or resource conflict.
2. It is assumed that the project dependencies are correctly identified and the entire
project can be completed within 84 days.
3. It is assumed that none of the labours will be working on weekends and holidays.
4. It is assumed that the project team will be responsible for receiving the machines that
are ordered.
The above four points indicates the assumptions considered for this project scheduling
and planning.

3. Dependency matrix
A dependency matrix is a square matrix that is used to represent the dependencies among
the tasks in a particular project. Both rows and columns of dependency matrix represents the
tasks or activities of a project. Dependency matrix provides a compact way of establishing the
dependencies between the tasks in a project.

critical project activities.
Conclusion
The report outlines the project schedule that has been prepared in order to successfully
manage and implement a project that is associated with the installing an assembly line for
packaging of the machines. The project has made use of available resources and company
personnel for implementation of the project. The schedule has been prepared considering 40
hours working per week. The resources has been allocated in the project as per the work

activities and project needs. The report outline the work breakdown structure that is assumed for
successful implementation of this project. The work breakdown structure represents the task
activities and the resource needs of the project. A graphical representations of the work
breakdown structure of the project indicates the cost of the resources used. A dependency matrix
is designed in order to identify dependencies among the tasks in the project. The report
represents the project network diagram and the Gantt chart of the project. The project is
successfully completed within 80 days.
