History of English Language started after arrival of the three Germanic tribes who
carried out invasion in Britain at the time of 5th century AD. There were three tribes called
Angles, Saxons and Jutes who crossed North Sea from that of Denmark. The development of
the English Language took place owing to invasions of that of Britain
(Lexcodephilippines.blogspot.com 2018). The language of the three tribes called Angles,
Jutes along with Saxon combined together to produce the language that was known as Anglo-
Saxon or that of Old English. This essay discusses about the evolution of English as the
global language. It talks about how the demand of English has increased across the world and
how English as the common language can help in the aspect of communication.
There are around 7.5 billon inhabitants in the world and out of it 1.5 billion people
speak the language of English. It has been found that English is spoken by around 20 % of
the people on the Earth (Studyenglishtoday.net 2018). It can however be stated that most of
the people are not the native speakers. There are around 360 million people in the world who
speak English as the first language. English as the foreign language is studied by many
people in the world.
Demand of English Language has increased across the whole world. English has
evolved to be a language pertaining to business, technology along with science. English has
evolved to become the global language pertaining to business. There are many multinational
companies across the world that mandate English to be the common corporate language
(Merriam-webster.com 2018). The speaking of the English Language helps in facilitating
communication along with performance across the geographical diverse function. English can
be said to be the language of science as the various activities in relation to science are carried
out in English Language. Activities of United State of America has helped in popularizing the
English Language.

The world is gradually becoming more global and this has necessitated the need of a
common language that can people from the various backgrounds in connecting. The evolving
of English as the common language can help people from one country to understand what the
people of another country are saying and this can help in bridging the gap that exists between
people from the various nations. Tremendous changes have taken place in the realm of
international travel and this has increased the need of the fact that there should be a common
language that can aid communication in an organisation (Ielts-practice.org 2018).
Communication can be said to be a fundamental part within the functioning society. In the
event of a group not being able to communicate with itself there would be confusion that
would act like a barrier in the path of progress. The society without a common language
would be incapable of communication and they would not be able to reveal their innermost
feelings and their intentions.
The language of English can be said to be influential however it has a negative effect
on the culture of the other countries. There are a large number of English speakers who does
not have English as the mother tongue. It will outnumber the people who have English as the
mother tongue (Nunan 2001). A difference would always exist between that of native English
speakers and among those who have learned the language. The differences that exist can help
in the creation of troublesome gap that will have negative implications on the organizations in
the global arena.
It can hence be concluded that learning of the English Language have more benefits
as compared to the dangers associated with it. The arriving of the Germanic tribes led to the
evolution of the English Language during that of 5th century AD. Language of three tribes-
Jutes, Saxon and Angles combined and it gave birth to the language of Old English. There are
around 20 % people on the face of the Earth who are instrumental in speaking the English
Language. English can be said to be the language of business in the modern age. There are

various multi-national companies in the world who conceive of English to be the main
corporate language. English can facilitate the aspect of communication across that of
geographically diverse functions. The learning of English can help people from one country
in understanding what the people of the other country are saying and this can facilitate in
bridging gap between the people. Changes have taken place in the realm of travelling and this
has necessitated need of a common language. The learning of English can help people of a
country in getting many advantages and hence an individual should learn the English
Language.The people having English as the mother tongue speak in a different manner from
the people who gradually acquire the language and this can give rise to gap within the
society.
