There are some different kinds of integrated skill which should possess in expert and
adviser so that it can easily deal with the clients. In the Dvd real play session, there is a
discussion taking place between expert and client. The client wants to share issues related to the
problem which it faces because English is not its first language and it suffers from trouble. There
are the different integrative skill which is the expert at the time of dealing with the client. Here,
integrated skill focus on four main skill that is speaking, writing, listening and readings (Hill,
Jones and Schilling, 2014). Some of integrating skill which is used by an expert at the time of
communicating with the client know as the speaking and listening. At the time of communicating
generally single language skill is used for delivering a message. Integrated approach assist in
building new knowledge and skills in the way students can do and all they know. For instance, if
an individual can read the story then it can easily write the short story (Migon, Gamerman and
Louzada, 2014). Further, integrated skill also assists in building in more variety into the lesson it
is so because a range of activities will be wider. Therefore, it can be stated that instead of having
listened, there should be other skill must have in order to communicate effectively. With the use
of all integrating the skill that an individual is working at the level of realistic communication
which assists in render all round improvement of communicative competence in English. There
are four steps of integrated the four skill in respect to understand all the skills (McDaniel, Fuke
and Klimov, 2013.).
One of the simplest forms of integration is known the same medium that is oral or
written. This is transfer from the receptive skill to productive skill. In an oral medium, there is
listening which receptive skill and speaking which is productive skill while in written medium
reading is receptive and writing is the productive skill (Albrecht, Bakker and Saks, 2015). In
the given Dvd expert and client use an oral medium for communication that is listening and
speaking. Another one is complex integration here is involves the constructing a series of
activities which use the different type of skills. Here it needs to ensure that one activity is closely
linked with the next one thematically. There is the need to the implication of integrating the four
skills at the time of communicating with clients. The expert must have the good understanding of
discourse and it should be use skill effectively (Abdollahi, Arvan and Razmi, 2015). Therefore, it
is a time consuming which need some preparation. Further expert tries to promote healing and

clients to face each and every moment openly without forming any opinion and attitude

speaking skill which encourages client to share all the problem which she faces in her life

convince other to speak their problems with feeling shy or uncomfortable. At the time of

that expert showing interest its topics (Fynn-Thompson, Thiagarajan and Weinstock, s2013.).
Further, reflection covers paraphrasing whatever is heard by an expert. By doing this it makes
aware to the client that expert understand what has been said. The regular question was asked to
a client which show that expert is showing interest in her speech and it also focusing on client
current experience. At the time of listening to clients, an expert is feeling, thinking and intuitive.
Therefore listening to own skill show clue that both are understanding what is happening in
session and to understand clients themselves (Singh, Khanna and Chawla, 2016.). For instance, a
client is sometimes feeling depressed and expert is speaking in such a manner which makes her
feel depression free. For instance, sometimes it makes aware that it is irritated with a client and
starts paying close attention to what happens when it feels what is happening and when it feels
irritated.
Further it is analysed that there are some major barriers in active listening that is culture.
Here is knowledge of other culture help in assisting your listening and in same way

summarizing etc. Attending is knows is the way expert is with its client both manner that is
psychologically and physically. In the given DVD analysis expert effectively attend to its clients
which show that she is with her and they it can easily share its world with her. Further effective
attending also put position to listen carefully to whatever client is speaking (Roh, Lim and
Issenberg, 2016). The acronym SOLER will show that inner attitudes and belief of respect and
credibility toward the client.
Squarely: Expert adopt the body posture which reflect the involvement with client. Further, with
client it creates psychological barrier so that it not face any trouble.
Open posture: Expert sit in a position which communicates openness and availability to the client
(Hill, Jones and Schilling, 2014). Here Expert sit open posture instead of cross arms and crossed
legs. Crossed leg interpreted that unavailability while open postures which interpret that it is
open with client and he or she has to says.
Lean: Expert was lean toward the client which show that it take interest and involvement. If,
adviser show interest in whatever client state than it lead to come up with valid outcome.
Eye contact: Through making a proper eye contact show that expert is interested in client
message which it communicating to them (Migon, Gamerman and Louzada, 2014.). From Dvd
part it is analyses that proper eye contact was made with client which enable her to feel
comfortable in her presence. On the other it can be stated that proper client is not acceptable in
all cultures.
Relaxed: There need to be relaxed with client and do not engage in distracting facial expressions.
Here in the Dvd analysis client feel comfortable and relaxed with experts so that it can easily
share problems which is she is facing currently.
Listening: it is refer to the way of expert which can capture and understand the message which
client communicate at the time when it speaks her problem and story. This message is
transmitted both way verbally and non verbally (McDaniel, Fuke and Klimov, 2013. ). It is
important to listen carefully and effectively so that client problem can be solved out while
communicating with the adviser
I identified four listening skills which is used at the time of communicating with client by
expert. Client verbal message is easily listened and understand by expert. At the time when
client tell her story which mostly comprises of some mixture experience, affect, behavior. Here I

not use her hand at the time of communicating it sits in open posture till the end of session.
Further, it can easily listen and interpret the client verbal message. Here it has been noticed from
DVD that counselor can easily read non verbal message that is body posture and , facial
expression and twisted lips etc (Albrecht, Bakker and Saks, 2015). it focus on listening and
trying to understand the context of client. Listen with empathy. Here empathy listening involves
observing, attending and listening. Further I noticed that expert reach in a such a manner that the
counselor develop an understanding of the client. Along with this I also find some hindrance in
effective listening that it some time get distracted from what the client is speaking. Sometime
problem of its own make distract to client as well as counselor. Apart from this basic empathy
which consider listening to clients and understanding them and their concerns as best as are they
and communicate then in such a manner that it is understood by others (Albrecht, Bakker and
Saks, 2015). I identified that at the time of listening with empathy that expert may forget itself
and try to see clients worlds through the way client feel herself theirs and it was seeing through
her eyes. In probing it considers statement and questions from the counselor which enable clients
to investigate fully and relevant issue of their lives. There are some purpose of probes and
question which are used by counselor in respect to understand the problem of client. It motivates
client to remain focused and unwilling to their stories (Roh, Lim and Issenberg, 2016.). At last it
is analyses that expert was skilled and counselor. Continually to attend and listen and use the
probes and mix empathy is needed which help the client to come up with their problems. The use
of communication skill is depended on client and problem of it in respect to solve in an effective
manner.
There are some strength and weakness of integrated skill approach
One of the benefit of integrated skill is that it is flexible and taken into consideration an
individual. Along with this if listening skill of counsellor was not good then it cannot understand
the problem from which a client is suffering. If all the skills are integrated then it help in
development of communicative competence (Mouza, Karchmer-Klein and Hu, 2014). Therefore,
it can be stated that integrating of alls skill that can be demanding for the client. Further all the
different which develop tend to pace that is receptive skills which are stronger as compare to
productive skills (Fynn-Thompson, Thiagarajan and Weinstock, 2013.). Knowledge of an
individual can become barrier for the client. It is so because if client set in mind that expert is not
focusing on her speech then it cannot express its feeling in an effective manner.
