INTRODUCTION
English has become the se4cond foreign language. It is very much important for an
individual to develop the proficiency in English as this will assist them in eliminating the
communication barriers. English in India is a foreign language in multilingual country. It is the
language which has become symbol of people aspiration for quality in Education .The visible
effect of the presence of English language is that it is the language which is demanded by
everybody at the primary stage of schooling. There has been great debate on the level of
introduction of English language at primary level in India. The other topic of the debate is
related to the way students studying at primary level school in India can improve their English
speaking abilities. There has been debate on such topic Indian students at primary level in India
consider English language to be difficult. Therefore, there is great requirement for
communicative English teaching. Main objective of communicative teaching is to assist
students in primary level to develop the competency of speaking English.
The main aim of the research will be to identify the best ways through which students
studying at primary level in India can enhance their English speaking abilities.
MAIN BODY
Literature review
According to the research conducted by Adaba, 2017, an appropriate use of language by
teacher is very much essential in order to help Indian students in developing the proficiency to
speaking language. The other methods which can be utilized by primary level teacher for
supporting Indian children in enhancing their ability to speak English language are shared
reading of big books, use of reading cards, story reading rewriting activities etc. However, it
has been argued by other authors that improvement in specific language skills needs
comprehensive output as well as comprehensible input. As per the opinion of Ramadeep,2019,
the grammar construction by an individual student at primary level is considered to be as
fundamentally implicit. However, it has been argued by other authors that the phonic approach
can be utilized by primary teachers for teaching English language to the students. According to

the opinion of (), modified phonic approach which includes teaching through rhyming is one of
the best way to support primary level student in improving their English speaking ability.
However, it has been argued by other authors that primary teachers in Indian schools are
required to help student in development of the listening, speaking, writing and reading skills as it
will provide students an ease in learning English language. In context of India, training
provided to students are generally theoretical as well as bookish and English language is
thought from the exam point of view . As per the perception of other authors, the teachers can
conduct the different activities in order to assist children in enhancing their listening skills
which is very important in order to increase ability to speak English. However , it has been
argued by other authors that grammar should be taught in native language and other abilities
such as reading , writing, listening and speaking should be taught in English. The authors has
also stated that teaching the grammar in native language is considered to be as one of an
effective method of teaching as well as helping Indian students in primary language to improve
proficiency. According to the opinion of Reachlvy,2017, Reading as well as analyzing the
authentic text is one of the best way to help students in enhancing the ability to speak English.
The researcher has selected the topic identifying the way students English speaking
ability can be improved at primary level in India as investigator has found that many Indian
students at primary level are facing the issue in learning the English language. In addition to this,
many of the Indian students at primary level has shown their keen interest in activities which
are executed for supporting them in enhancing English speaking ability.

has poor performance in English language. In
addition to this, focus on theoretical training
and lack of practical training is the main
reason for poor performance of Indian
students in English language. Author has also
found that execution of the activities is the
best way to help Indian students at primary
level in improving the ability to speak
English. In addition to this, author has also
found that enabling the student to watch
English program me and encouraging them to
read English newspaper is one of the best way
to help Indian student at primary level in
increasing their ability to speak English. The
author also found that reading as well as
analyzing the authentic text is one of the best
way to help students in increasing the ability to
learn as well as speak English language. In
this article according to the view of author
teachers first is required to make education
and English text books more interesting. The
author has also founded that teachers can make
use of advance technology for enabling
student to speak as well as learn English.
Critical comment The author explicate the policy related to the
way teacher should taught English language to
children which was implemented in different
region of India. The main purpose of teaching
is to enabled Indian students at primary level to

increase their ability to speak English
language.
Relevance I have selected this article as it demonstrates
the way of teaching through which the ability
of an individual to learn and speak English can
be enhanced.

speeches of the great orators as it is the best
way to enable student learn as well as speak
English. Other methods of teaching English
language and supporting the Indian students at
primary level includes is Flip methodology,
As per the flip methodology teaching technique
teacher can have ten min regular discussions
with Indian students at primary level, as it is
the best way to assist students in improving
their ability to learn as well as speak English.
In addition to this other classroom activities
which can be executed by teachers for
enabling Indian student to develop proficiency
in language are essay writing, group
presentations and debates. As per the opinion
of author, Flip teaching methodology is
considered to be as one of the best method to
develop the interest of Indian students in
learning English language.
According to the author, Role play as a method
of teaching English language is suitable for
those Indian students at primary level who
prefer to learn things by participating in
activities. The author in this article stated that
teacher during the role play ask student to have
conversation in English language. It is the
method through which Indian students at

primary level can learn about the voice
projections which is very much essential to be
considered while speaking English language.
In this article, author has also stated that
teacher can plan play way English lessons for
Indian students at primary level. The authors
has also stated that teachers can do experiment
with words. In addition to this, according to
the author quiz, puzzle-solving, Scrabble,
Sudoku, etc can be prepared by teachers for
supporting Indian Children in Learning as well
as speaking English. As per the opinuion of
author , Games help to seamlessly incorporate
subject knowledge with application, and are an
answer to productive and smart learning. In
this article author has found that there are
different methods which has been adopted by
the teachers for helping Indian students at
primary level to learn as well as speak English
language. The author has found that
demonstration is the method is is widely
utilized by teachers in Indian schools for
assisting students at primary level in
developing the ability to lean and speak
English language.
Questionnaire technique has been utilized for
gathering the information about the techniques
which are utilized by teachers for identifying
the learning style of students.
Critical comment In this article, some evidence which has been

suggested that can be utilized by teacher for
supporting children in increasing their ability
to learn as well as speak English are
1. regular discussion in English with students
after the class.
2. Repetition of words or Sentences .
3. Essay writing , debates etc.
Less detailed investigation has been done in
order to identify the best teaching method that
can be utilized for supporting learners with
different learning styles to learn as well as
speak English.
Relevance It is the Journal which is appropriate as it
emphasizes on different techniques which can
be utilized for teaching the students to speak
English.

the proficiency in English language. Other

of English language for conversations is very
much essential in order to improve ability to
learn and speak English.

as it signifies the importance of four skills in
improving the abilities of children to speak
English language.

CONCLUSION
From the above study it has been concluded that development of English speaking skills
is very much crucial. The other fact which has been discovered from the study is that at initial
stage development of basic concepts about the specific subject is important in order to achieved
the desired learning goals. It has also been concluded from the study that Primary teachers in
Indian schools are required to bring improvement in their way of delivering English lessons to
students at primary level.
The different techniques has been highlighted in the report which can be utilized for
increasing the ability to learn as well as speak English
