Environmental Hazards Course 2022_1

The environmental hazard in the video Richmond California Struggles for Clean Air is burning
of chemicals in numerous electrochemical facilities which deal with toxic wastes among them 40
located with an area of two miles.
The effects of the environmental hazard on individuals and community comes along with the
residents among them African Americans, SE Asians and Latin having to endure the bulk of the
problem and have to be used to the common industrial accidents alongside high levels of
pollution that are experienced every day. The pollution are inclusive of emissions into water
bodies of the effluents that come from the factories, air pollution as well as land pollution in the
form of landfills used as dumping sites for the various solid wastes generated from the industries.
Pollution of the air has effects on the individual residents as well as the community as a whole
with regard to release of fumes that have high risks of development of various chronic diseases
of the respiratory systems (Hines, 2015). The overall effect is a deterioration in the quality of
human health as well as the environment thereby lowering the chances of survivability.
The community health educator plays a role in informing the community on the need to maintain
a clean environment that is free from toxic pollutions. This will involve creating awareness on
the sources of toxic pollutions, their effects and the possible methods of mitigation of such
effects. Still, the educator plays a role in creating awareness among the residents on their rights
to have pollution free environment (Kaswan, 2019).
