Environmental Impact Statement
Introduction
The coal mining of Caval Ridge Greenfield in Central Queensland, Australia, results in
releasing greenhouse gas in the environment. The greenhousegas includes methane (CH4),
carbon dioxide (CO2), and nitrous oxide (N2O),which leads to global warming. This project throws
light on the cause of climate change due to the greenhouse and the need foran environmental
impact statement to control the emission of greenhouse gas.The global warming measures the
amount of infrared rays which are captured by gas and is equivalent to the mass of carbondioxide
over a predetermined time. The inventories of greenhouse gas are enhanced due to the release of
carbon-dioxide immensely. The measurement of direct emission of greenhouse gas provides an
accurate assessment of emission GHG (Bonnafous, Lall& Siegel, 2017). The inventories of
greenhouse gas of open-cut coal mine include the materiality consumption of unleaded petrol in
the site vehicles. The Environmental Impact Statement estimates the total quantity of emission of
greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, including direct and indirect radiation, which is credible to
mine. ESI provides suitable circumstances for the activities that are being established by Billiton
Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) as well as ESI examines the contribution of greenhouse gas
discharge from the mining area.
EIS quantifies the usage scale and the impacts of infrastructure used in the area (Adiansyah,
2017). Environmental impact statement involves a social impact assessment that scrutiny the
cause of the housing in the description. For CRM environmental impact statement examines the
nature and stretch of groundwater and its use in the locality of the site and its requirement of
measuring mitigations.EIS is required with four-part of the state development and public works
organization act specific terms are set out for the process of evaluating the impact of the
environment upon the elements of Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) Bowen Basin Coal

Growth Project (BBCGP) (Skerman&Todhunter, 2017). Whereas, the project of Caval Ridge is
subjected to a complete environmental impact statement, and it is the second element of Billiton
Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) Bowen Basin Coal Growth Project (BBCGP). Also,a project for
coordinating the EIS judgment process, the Department of Infrastructure and Planning, is
responsible as the global coordinator report on the operation of project environmental
acceptability. The EIS procedure is related to the quality of air and dust emission, tailing storage
and treatment, clearing endangered ecological communities, and many more (Park& Tucker,
2017). Caval Ridge acquired no harm policy, which is undertaken following BHP, which
includes continuous improvement of environmental accomplishment with regular monitoring,
reviewing the authorities, and many more.
Discussion
Climate change is referred to as abiding variations in temperature, wind, and another component
of the climate system of the earth. Naturally, the surface absorbs and reflects the emitting of solar
energy and radiates back into space. As per the statement of environmental impact, the
greenhouse gas for caval ridge mining is considering and reporting the principle of greenhouse
gas pact (Pandey, Gautam& Agrawal, 2018). This Pact elaborates on the direct and indirect
emission of greenhouse followingthe Caval Ridge mining site and its impact on the environment.
The source of radiation is controlled bythe project, associated with the explosion of fuel oil, on-
site power generation. The primary source of emission is through the consumption of electricity
in the construction stage by CRM.Atmospheric changes and absorption of greenhouse gas can
convert the energy balance, which is transferred between space, atmosphere, oceans, and lands
(Enfield, 2018). Mining areas are likely prone toclimate change, and it has the potential to affect

mining operations. BM Alliance coal operation Pvt ltd. realized the risk which is possessed due
to climate change with increasing greenhouse gas and its concentration in the atmosphere
(Bonnafous, Lall& Siegel, 2017).
The erosion is possibly minimized and includes the feasibility of environmental
impact, which is caused due to the release of dust in the atmosphere. The cause of climate change
due to greenhouse gas emission and the mining areas are affected because of rainfall change,
change in sea surface temperature, change in temperature, and many more. The Queensland
report states that climate change has a crucial segment in the agricultural, mining, and industrial
activity in Queensland, and these industries massively depend on water resources (Adiansyah,
2017). Climate change has an adverse impact like increased flood risks because of an increase in
the intensity of rainfall, reduction in the process of water availability by cause of decreased
rainfall and increase in evapotranspiration, and many more (Park & Tucker, 2017). The vital
producer of carbon dioxide is related to oil, gas, metallurgical, coal, and many more. Carbon-
based energy is the primary input of mining groups and their processing operations. The number
of governmental bodies is introduced in contemplating the regulatory changes in response to the
climate change impact. The EIS in caval ridge mining enhanced the evaluation of greenhouse gas
and its emission from CRM by using greenhouse gas protocol (Authority, 2017). Even with the
changes in implications of greenhouse gas emission rather insignificant, particularly the extent of
emitting from the mining project. Kyoto protocol aims to limit the emission of greenhouse gas by
establishing an individual target of greenhouse gas emission concerning other countries. In
Australia, the Kyoto protocol committed to its goal of 108 percent of 1990 emissions. Kyoto

includes joint implementation, international emission trading, and clean development
mechanisms. These mechanisms effectively allow the reduction of greenhouse gas at the lowest
decline of marginal cost. To lead a positive response to an effective climate change, the
Queensland government created a climate change office in October 2007(Akbar etal. 2018).
Conclusion
Form the above paper; it can be concluded that the Caval ridge mining project EIS is prepared by
Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) to evaluate the environmental, economic, and social
impacts related to the development of jointly open-cut Greenfield coal mines at the Caval Ridge.
This project enhances the ongoing process of monitoring greenhouse gas and controlling its
emission enhanced by Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA). Also, it is comprehended that the EIS
emphasizes in considering and reporting the principle of greenhouse gas pact. In CRM project
