1ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES FOR BUSINESS
Topic: Future of Native Forest Logging in Western Australia
Introduction:
The term forest logging is used to describe the process of the removal of the woods and
the timbers from the forest to make papers and other utilities made out of the woods. Due to the
interference of the environmentalists, logging in the Australia is illegal in numerous places. 16
percent of the total forest in Australia is in the western part of the country (Döbert et al., 2018).
In this report we will discuss about effects of forest logging in Western Australia and its future.
Global population is increasing with every passing day and the need for accommodation
is increasing as well. This has lead led to the deforestation several parts of the country. However,
apart from this, there is a huge business all over the world with the timber. A huge amount of
revenue is generated from the timber industry of Australia. However, the government is trying to
put a ban to this.
The devastating effect of the forest logging cannot be denied. The environmental
catastrophes like the fires in the forests, floods, droughts are the impact of the reducing forest
lining in the country. With the increasing forest logging this is expected to increase. Movements
have been conducted to prevent the forests from destruction but in vein. Now situations have
aroused where the ultimate source of timer in Australia is getting exhausted, and in the upcoming
decade, id the rate of the forest logging does not decrease, these forests will be gone for good.
With the native forest logging in the Western Australia, numerous species have been marked as
extinct (Thompson, 2018). The ones which are surviving are endangered. With profound forest
logging, these animals are subjected to loss of habitat, which will again disrupt the balance of the
ecosystem. Trees are not only the home for the several species of the insects and animals, they

are also the source of energy and oxygen, with the forest logging, the effect of the global
warming tends to increase in the future, leading to more environmental catastrophes. The
Western Australian region, which is a desert and have little vegetation, with the native forest
logging will have a greater impact on the climatic changes in the country. This has also resulted
in the loss of habitats for the birds and other species, which are dependent upon the trees for the
survival. The soil erosion increases which can lead to the land slides.
The effect of clearing native forest area can be devastating. The timber industry for which
the country has considered forest logging in the native areas of the Western Australia is most
likely to be completely gone if the rate of de-forestation does not decrease. The native Australian
forests are treasure for the country (Lindenmayer et al., 2016). However, the Victorian
government of Australia has taken steps in prevention of the catastrophes by reducing the
consumption of the timber based product by 2030. Protecting these forests is important in order
to save the existing species and restore the ecosystem. The adverse effects of the global warming
can be prevented by preventing the forest logging in the native region of the West Australia
(Eyre et al., 2015).
