Introduction
Environmental sustainability refers to the ability of the human beings and biosphere to
co-exist with each other. Organizations have some major negative impacts on the environment
for instance, issues related to air pollution, land pollution and also water pollution. These impacts
of the organization affect the ecological balance and therefore also affect the ability of the future
generation to meet their needs. Therefore organizations are required to follow the triple bottom
line approach in order to not only become profitable but also to become responsible towards its
planet and people. By fowling the same approach organizations can also become successful in
the long run and also be able to create a positive image on its customers (Goodland 1995). The
company selected for the purpose of this study is Bing lee that deals in consumer electronics.
The company is presently being faced with issues related to increased environmental impacts
because of poor packaging activities if the company. The main aim of the paper is to identify the
environmental sustainability problems faced by the chosen company and to provide a leading
strategic innovative solution to the same. The paper will therefore discuss about the sustainability
challenge being faced by the company, provide a leading strategic innovation solution and also
to make use of the strategic innovation model in order to implement the same.
Discussion
Sustainability challenges faced by the company
Environmental sustainability refers to the ability of the human beings and the
environment to co-exist with each other. And therefore includes the ability of the present
generation to meet their need without affecting the ability of the future generation to meet their
own needs. In order words, environmental sustainability refers to using of resources in such a

way that the same amount of resources that is available to the present generation will also be
available to the future generation such that they can also meet their needs. Environmental
sustainability also encompasses the concepts of society, economy and the environment.
Therefore according to the above definition, there exists a close relationship between the society,
economy and the environment (Vezzoli and Manzini 2008). Hence, business organizations need
to understand their responsibility towards the society, the planet in addition to earning profits. In
this respect, the concept of the triple bottom line approach needs to be understood. According to
the concept of triple bottom line as proposed by John Elkinston in the year 1997, organizations
should not only aim at achieving its traditional bottom line that is profits but also understand
their responsibility towards the people and the planet. Therefore responsible businesses are the
ones which considers the triple bottom line and to integrate the same in their public reporting and
