INTRODUCTION
Equality is something in which every individual has been given an equal opportunity irrespective
of their religion, colour, race, gender and age. Diversity is about taking account of the differences
between people and groups of people, and placing a positive value on those differences. There are
many aspects of individual in which they have to work very hard and with patience so that their
behaviour will give positive impact to the organization. Present report will lay emphasis on
identifying and explain the categories with regards to equality and diversity. It will also focus on
policy and regulatory framework affecting the equality and diversity. Study will also explain the
role of human right commission. It will also lay focus on the communication strategies to promote
diversity.
TASK 1
A Identify and explain the categories with regards to equality and diversity.
Introduction- There are various categories which are related to equality and diversity. These
characteristics promote equality of opportunity for all the individuals. In this people are not
treated differently and not being discriminated on any of the basis. These includes the following:
Age – Age doesn't matter if it is not connected with experience, as people says it is just a
number. It is a fact that people are diverse by their age but if they are working in organization
and having same level of experience then there should be equality between them. For example:
In order to protect students from age discrimination, age limit and reservation quota has been
removed.
Gender – In many organization managers judge employees by their gender, but in Tesco every
employee is equal either male or female. Female can also do same work as male do, and in today's
time female are much better then male in many terms (Greene, 2019). Male and female are
diversified by gender but they are equal while it comes to their work or life. Form example: In our
organization none of the student are judge on the basis of their gender and if any kind of gender
discrimination is faced by students then they have an authority to directly report the incident to
their head of the department.
Religion – The biggest problem which arises everywhere is judging people with their religions, it
is not good to judge people with their religion as religion is made by people, so everyone should
see people as human and should follow humanity. Religion is highly diversified as people are

students are given first priority in most of the task and processes.
Pregnancy and maternity- Discrimination can also be done to pregnant women. In this woman
are being treated unequally because they are pregnant. Discrimination like these women can be

the colour, ethics and origin. For example: if any of the student is judge on the basis of their race
then they can report the discrimination incident to the higher authorities and they can also

Sexual orientation- This discrimination is against individuals because of the sexual behaviour. It
comes in the context of employment actions.
Marriage: Discrimination can be happened to both men and women. This happens when you are
treated worse than other workers in your workplace because you are married or in a civil
partnership. For example: a woman works night shifts in a distribution warehouse but is dismissed
when she gets married because her employer thinks a married woman should be at home in the
evening.
Civil partnership- When people who are not married are in civil partnership. Discrimination
related to it can also take place. They can be laid of the jobs when they come under civil partners.

career and growth in the future. Self-confidence is one of the most important factors in the
learning of the people because it gives effective and efficient motivation which helps the
individuals to become more focused about their career and future (Nachmias and Caven, 2018).
Motivation helps to improve the capacity of learning in the individuals so that they will learn in
their best.
Social and cultural factors: Social factors are lifestyles, customs and values that defines the
society and affects the learning of the students and children in their early stage. Extreme poverty,
neglect and abuse will affects the students learning. The students must have the impact of
cultural because there are different culture in the society and have different language, practices
and values which the people follow in the society. The students face different if they are from
different culture, and they have to understand the language and values of the culture firstly. The
terms and conditions of the society will create the problems in the learning of the students. Every

and take the significant action for solving the problem in the learning.
Encouraging team working: working of the team should be encouraged so that everybody
could learn properly and brings the ability to fight against the barriers and improved their level of
performance. For example by organizing the activities in the institute and school like games and
sports, visiting the museums can motivate and encourage the students to learn properly and
effectively.
Engagement of students: to remove these barriers every student have to engage in their own
working directly and brings various practices focus on their learning for the better future growth.
For example by engaging the students in the activities and events of the school and the colleges
the students become more focused in their learning and also improve their learning.

organization depicts the policies of the organization to be followed and work in appropriate way.

differences, the people should communicate with each other and cross culture should be
followed. It enhances the motivation of work among the people. As working in the organization

face me. Also, if I don't work properly and don't complete the task on time, the belief of the

will be considered by the other employees and more over I will build their beliefs on me, so that
they can come to me with their problems, and maybe I am able to give proper solutions. As if I

environment, normal people have right of freedom, Right to equality etc. But many people does
not practice their rights, and live in fear, for example if the employee has to spend lot of time in
the organization due to workload, it creates mental stress for him, but he can't stand against this,
because of fear of losing his job (Sheehan and Anderson, 2015).
So I suggest that everybody should stand against the wrong happening to them, raise their
voice. Because our law gives us the right to equality, and we should protect our rights. As I go
through with the study of equality and diversity, some people suffer with many wrong things
because of unawareness among them. So Awareness programs and promotions of the Equality
Act should be done.
I get to know the rights related to me, that nobody can force me to do the things, If I found
my self treated as unequal, I can stand by my own, Also if I find myself to be harassed by anyone,
I can raise my voice. If the same things happen around me with others, I will take the stand
according to the law and also help him to know his rights. Laws for everyone is there. Just you
have to be concerned for your rights.

From the above study it can be concluded that the equity and diversity focuses top improve the
level of performance of the students. Understanding of each and every individual are different
from each other and also their ability of leaning is also different. There are various barriers which
affects the learning of the students like the lack of opportunities, harassment and discrimination of
age, gender, color. There are various laws and regulations which have impact on the equity and
employees. Like if any employee doesn't get equal pay and it is eligible so that if I take stand for
him it will lead to justice for that employee.
I also work for the helping the employee who has been harassed at workplace and I remind him
