Equality and diversity
Equality is a natural human right. All people should be treated fairly
regardless of their gender orientation.
It can be said that equality is considered as the right of the individuals. It is important that
all the individuals should be give equal treatment regardless of the gender orientation. Human
rights are considered as the rights that are inherent to all the individuals, regardless of sex, race
and also language (Smith, 2016). Individuals are equally entitled to the human rights without
emphasizing on discrimination. The human rights focuses on the rights related to life and liberty,
freedom and slavery and also freedom of opinion. It has been examined that human rights are
known as the basic rights and freedoms that belong to the individuals in the world and the
individuals have the right from birth until death (Freeman, 2017).
The rights given to the people can never be taken back but it can be said that it can be
restricted if it is not followed. The basic rights given to the people are based on the shared values
such as dignity, fairness, respect and equality (Baker, Lynch Cantillon & Walsh, 2016). For
example: In Britain the human rights are secured by the Human Rights Act 1998. It can be stated
that human rights are the backbone of the individuals that helps them in controlling the routine
operations with confidence. The rights given to the people states that they are free to take their
decisions and also they can share their views with the other individuals they want. So, human
rights play a vital role in the life of the individuals.
Equality is also one of the factors that reduce biasness. It is essential that equality should
be offered to the employees in the workplace so that it could be easy for them to give their best
towards the activities. Equality is generally related to the uniformity in the treatment or in the
status of the people. The term equality can be defined as the way that helps in ensuring that
people are not treated in a different manner or there are discrimination that takes place in relation
to sex, gender and disability (Kempadoo, Sanghera & Pattanaik, 2015). So, it can be said that
equality should be there mainly in the workplace as it can help in boosting the overall
productivity of the employees towards the assigned work. The employee to whom equality is
offered helps in enhancing the positive culture in the workplace. Therefore, it can be stated that
equality should be provided to the people living in the society and also the employees who are
working in the company (Dworkin, 2018).

It is examined that diversity is also one of the aspect that emphasizes on giving equal
treatment to the individuals. The concept of diversity emphasizes on the factors related to
acceptance and respect. It simply states that it is the concept that states that everyone is unique in
them and also it could be easy to recognize the differences of the individuals. It can be stated that
diversity enhances the reality that is created by the people and groups which is also concerned
with the broad spectrum of demographic and philosophical differences (Thompson, 2016). It is
necessary to give protection and support as it is analyzed that by giving value to the people and
groups free from prejudice can help in boosting the culture where the equity and respect is
intrinsic. It is important to consider the concept of diversity as it can help in reducing the issue of
discrimination and boost equality among the individuals (Alesina, Harnoss & Rapoport, 2016).
Diversity can also be stated as the acknowledging and maintaining the differences. It is
necessary to maintain the diversity in the workplace so that it could be easy to attain the positive
relations in context to overall activities of the business. In simple terms, diversity is the set of
conscious practice that emphasizes on understanding and appreciating the interdependence of the
different cultures and humanity. By giving respect for qualities and experiences can help in
boosting diversity among the people. To maintain the diversity it is necessary to respect the
rights of the people in terms of self-identification and also it can be said that one culture is
intrinsically superior to another. Therefore, the term diversity is necessary to be considered so
that equality can be maintained effectively among the individuals (Banks, 2015).
Homophobia can also be said as the term that focuses on the negative attitudes and
feelings towards the homosexuality. It is necessary to stop the issue concerned with homophobia
as no one has the right to discriminate against the different people or hurt them emotionally.
There are different things that should be done to stop. One of important step that should be
considered relates to stop using the negative and offensive language to elaborate the LGBTQ
individuals. It is necessary to use the casual language so that causality can be maintained and it
can also help in maintaining equality among the individuals (Booth, 2017). Gender orientation
can be defined as the term that is used to describe the attraction that takes place between the
similar genders. It is important to focus on maintaining this as it can lead affect the equity
behavior among the people. If it is controlled then it would maintain the relations among the
people of the society (Plummer, 2016).
