Topic: Equality at workplace
Introduction
Equality at workplace is an essential element in today’s world. The report talks about
how an equality can be promoted or enforced at home or offices. It defines as an Inclusive
workplaces behaviour that promotes the principles of fairness, pride, diversity and dignity for
all employees. The major focus of any business should be to promote equality for all
employees and gain comprehensive benefits for the same (Lazzari). The Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission of United states says that, “it is illegal to discriminate against a job
applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including
pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older),
disability or genetic information (roubler.com).”
Equality at workplace
Let us define the term Equality; it is a fair treatment of an individual in the
community irrespective of their sexual characteristics, race, disability, belief, nationality, or
age. It is to make sure that each and every individual in the society is given equal growth
opportunities, equal compensation and are accepted with their differences.
Now how do I make sure that my workplace has an equal chance to treat everybody,
As such it is an employer’s responsibility to create an environment which has equality in it,
but as an individual, we should also stand by those who may have discriminated and distant
themselves from equal rights and responsibility. It helps to build better workplace and future.
Equality in Practice: The anti discrimination laws are executed and prepared to fight
against discrimination if happened at workplace. There are two forms of discrimination
namely intended and unintended. The first one is disparate treatment where an individual is
less favorable because they belong to different class and community. It is direct form of
inequality. Another is an indirect form of inequality where a person is given an opportunity
