Abstract
The world drug report shows that the most consumed drug is cannabis throughout the
world. The importance of millennia plant has increased because of this. Marijuana which also
comes from the same plant, had been used for medicinal, spiritual purposes and also consumed
for enjoyment on occasional basis from past 5,000 years. In the ancient time it was used for fiber,
rope and food but than in 20th century the international coordination results in the wide and
effective restrictions on cannabis all over the world.
Definition of Cannabis
The use of these drugs is controversial and questioned, while the consumption and
possession of cannabis is a criminal offence, as cannabis is illegal in most of the places.
Although, many places has legalized the use of this drug for medical or even for the enjoyment
purpose, which is followed by many other places or states also. The medical values of cannabis
is not a hidden fact, what one should remember is that the drug has a psychoactive effect on
human beings. Cannabis come in different name such as marijuana, weed, herb, pot, grass, ganja,
bud, Mary Jane and other slang terms. This drug has a record of the most frequently consumed
illegal psychoactive drug throughout the world. Cannabis is made up of the mixture of greenish
gray dried hemp plant which has psychoactive properties like that of cannabis sativa, cannabis
indica and cannabis ruderalis. This drug is contemplated as hallucinogen meaning this has lesser
adverse effect on wellness because it does not result in any physical dependency. However, it
comes under classification of depressant that decreases pursuit of brain. The alcohol and drug
foundation has classified cannabis much as cannabinoid drug having a considerable amount of
psychoactive cannabinoid delta- 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (Foundation for a drug free
world, 2021). A main product of cannabis is THC which causes excessive impact after
consuming. Having regularor acute consumption of cannabis causes harmful effects which
directly relates with the THC concentration in the compound used. Other main and common
compound of this drug after THC is cannabidiol (CBD).Some years from past the research have
proved that levels of CBD has effective impact on the user of drug. Though the effects are not
same as that of THC, it does not cause the euphoric effects and is a non psychotropic drug. The
chemical structure of both the compounds are same that is 21atoms of carbon, 30atoms of
hydrogen and 2 atoms of oxygen. The only point of differentiation is the positioning of this
