INTRODUCTION
Leadership and behaviour is very essential for the growth and development of company.
The leadership is a quality which helps in encouraging employees towards future success as well as
growth of business organization. In addition to this, the leader provide direction to its staff member
on how to achieve goal and objective of business organization in an effective manner. Beside from
this, the management helps in coordinating different tasks and activities in order to increaser the
performance level of employees within organization. And also the manager focuses on optimum
utilization of resources which can assists them in accomplishing of objectives. There are various
academic theories which imposes direct impact on the performance of employees working in the
organization. Also it affect the productivity as well as profitability level in favorable manner. In
assistance of this, there are various leadership theories in which contingency theory is connected to
how the circumstances and conditions stimulate the good leadership and Behavioural theory discuss
about the behavioural of leader to perform the activities and function within business organization.
Moreover, it is important for leader to have a soft and hard skills in order to operate the company in
an effective manner. In context of TESCO, the leader encourage employees to perform their work in
better way in order to boost productivity as well profitability level. Beside from this, the report
shows that leader provide training in order to accelerate their knowledge for increasing the
performance level of employees working in the organization. At last, they also determine the NHS
leadership program which is effective for proficiency of the company (Renz, 2016).
Explain the theories of leadership and management.
Leadership as well and management is very important for the success and growth of the company.
Leadership refers to the motivating the individual person towards achieving s goal and objective of
business organisation in short span of time. On the other hand, Management of company make
effective strategies, policies and procedures in order to operate different business functions and
activities in well- defined manner (Johnston and Marshall, 2016). The main purpose of both
leadership & management is to provide effective services to the individual person. Therefore, it is
important to coordinate different activities related to finance, human resource and many more. In
addition to this, it is vital for manager to have a leadership skills and knowledge to win as well as
the great leader must become the great manager to win. There are different theories and concepts
which define the similarities as well as differences among the quality of management & Leadership.
Both plays an important role for success and growth of every business organisation in better way.
In reference of TESCO, it is one of the biggest chain of supermarket which is situated in
UK. The manager of this company emphasised on handling the member of team in such a manner

so that they can maintain the balance between the company as well as keep their subordinate
motivated (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019). It is necessary to understand the significance of
Leadership and management which is going to be mentioned below:
Leadership
Leadership is considered as a process in which leader focuses on encouraging subordinates
towards accomplishing objective within stipulated period of time. There are various quality of
leadership which is related to management and some of them make it different. Management is
determined as a root for every business organisation. They coordinate the task and work of
subordinates in an effective manner. In addition to this, the leader influence the person to work in a
team to achieve the vision of company. In reference of TESCO, the leader and manager of this
company focuses on adopting participative leadership style in order to accomplish the goal and
objective in short span of time. In participative leadership style, the leader give the opportunities to
its employees to take participation in the decision making which is beneficial for the success of the
company (Tony, 2016).
Management
Management is considered as a process in which the manager make effective plan of action
and procedure in order to coordinate the different tasks and work in better way. In assistance of this,
the manager focuses on optimum utilization of resources as well as workforce in order to bring the
best results.
The Leadership as well as management both are the essential part of the business
organisation. It is necessary for manager to be a good leader in order to motivate the employees
working in the company. It helps in achieving business goal and objective within stipulated period
of time. In discourse to TESCO, the manager and leader comply the strategic management in order
to coordinate the business activities and functions in an effective manner. In strategic management
the appropriate decision which is taken by the top management for communicating with
subordinates in better way. It motivates the subordinates to perform the work well for
accomplishing goal and objective in an effective manner.
Differences between Leadership and Management
Leadership is different from Management due to various causes which is going to be mentioned
below:
The leader encourage the individual person to work towards achieving goal and objective in
short span of time whereas the manager emphasised on coordinating the different tasks and
activities that helps them in influencing subordinates for performing their work in better way. In
reference of TESCO, they both take suitable steps for the progress of subordinates.
