Ethical issues regarding much dependence on the Artificial Intelligence based automated
system.

Importance of the problem:
The automated systems are created using the artificial intelligence. Theses systems are
capable of substitute human activities in many places, as for example the automated car is
capable of driving itself without the human interaction.However, the accidents those are caused
by the automated car raise the critical issues regarding ethics. In case if an accident is caused by
the automated car the normal traffic violation rule cannot be applied because no human being is
involved with the accident. The absence of particular rules and regulation regarding the
monitoring and control of the automated system has increased importance of the analysis of
ethical problems and doings regarding the automated machine.

Facts relevant to the concerned topic:
1. Increased rate of unemployment due to the automation of the system: The automation of
the machine has enabled the system to work more perfectly. Automated systems are
replacing the human work force. This has become the major reason for the increasing
unemployment.
2. Problems regarding the distribution of wealth: The workers work at the offices and the
company gives them their salary on the basis of their work. In this case the work done by

the robot or any other automated system, the wealth cannot be distributed among the
machine. This leads to the inequity of the distribution of wealth.
3. Responsibility of the technical mistake done by the machine: The making of the
automated system is dependent on the human being. In this case, if there is an
implementation mistake in the making of the automated system, the machine can make
mistake. In that case, ethical issues may arise regarding taking responsibility of the
mistake.
4. Control of the automated system: The control of the automated system includes the
security of the automated system as well as working of the automated system (Müller and
Bostrom 2016). The artificial intelligence enables the use of the machine for illegal
purpose and the automated system which contains the valuable information, can be
accessed by the unauthorized users due to the lack of security.
5. Issues regarding the moral values: The automation of the system is appreciated and is
largely accepted by the society. It has served its various purposes, but it can be definitely
said that a set of logical operations cannot become the substitute of the moral values. The
question of thinking the artificial intelligence as the substitute of the human is becoming
a significant fact.
6. Decision making process in certain cases: The ability of the decision making process of
the automated system is questioned, especially when the case and humanity is needed. In
such situations like, taking care of the babies and the aged persons , the decision making
ability of the automated machine and the robot is not convincing .

1. Introducing semi automated system: In case, if the systems are semi auto automated, the
human interface is needed after a certain point of time. This human interaction can reduce
the margin of technical error as well as it will open up the new way of employment
(Dilek et al. 2015). However, controlling and maintaining the automated system requires
the highly skilled professionals.
2. Maintenance and creating different laws and regulations for the automated system: In
order to reduce the technological fault , proper maintenance is needed to be done on the
daily basis. The proper regulations and laws are needed to be created , stating the
guidelines of the actions taken for the technological mistakes of the automated machines.

Analysis of the ethical act:
There are certain ethical issues regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the system.
The main theme of the act utilitarianism is to increase the activities that will bring happiness and
to eliminate the negative activities in order to reduce the pain and suffering.
Three positive consequences of the use of artificial intelligence:
1. Improving the quality of life: The use of artificial intelligence has improved the quality of
life by providing the way of completing the complex daily work between the small time
span (Conitzer et al. 2017). This kind of use of automation has certain positive impact on
the human life, as it saves the time along with providing the quality work.
2. Opportunities of new innovation: The research on the artificial intelligence has open up
the path for inventing new technologies in various fields such as automobile industry,

education system (Zang et al. 2015). These kind of innovation is helping the human race
in the progress of science field. This progress is helping the man kind in a positive way.
3. Use of artificial intelligence for helping disables: The use of artificial intelligence can
help the partially or fully disable people to do their daily work without taking help from
others (Etzioni and Etzioni 2017). This has huge positive impact for the wellbeing of the
society.
Three negative consequences of using artificial intelligence:
1. Unemployment: The unemployment due to the raise of the automated system has become
a concerned issue (Bostrom and Yudkowsky 2014). Te unemployment is not a desirable
thing for the society as it increases the frustration of the people which implies it reduces
the happiness of the people.
2. Substitute of human emotion: The emotional of the human cannot be implemented by the
set of logical rules. In some cases artificial intelligence are being used for dealing with
the human emotions (Russell, Dewey and Tegmark 2015). This is a negative aspect
because human being cannot work like a machine and also it is not desirable.
3. Mistakes by the machine: The technological fault of the machine can have bad impact on
the human being. Recently, it has been seen some accidents caused by the technical fault
of the fully automated cars which has taken the several life of people (Dignum 2018).
This kind of mistakes are not avoidable all the time, and there is a chance of the harm for
the human being.

It can be concluded from the above discussion that there are certain positive impacts of
using the artificial intelligence various fields. However, the negative impacts of the artificial
intelligence is not avoidable. Calculative use of the artificial intelligence an reduce the margin of
harm caused by the artificial intelligence and help to bring happiness to the mankind.
