Business organisation is considered as an entity or act of bringing into effective
cooperation and which is formed for the purpose of carrying commercial enterprise as well as to
obtain maximisation of profit with an optimal utilisation of available resources in an effective or
efficient manner (Bromley and Meyer, 2017). Moreover, it classified in various forms that is
classified on the basis of ownership and management in order to accomplish their organisations
goal or objective ina better way within prescribed time limit. However, in this report, there are
two part which is classified as reflective statement and case study on Board of Boeing.
Moreover, under this study it encompasses various models or theories related to leadership style
and provide relevant suggestion to improve the firm overall performance is also mentioned here.
MAIN BODY
PART -1
Importance of leadership theories and organisational behaviour in leaders.
According to me, every superior or manager must be aware about every concepts of
organisation because it help them to accomplish their goal in a better manner within desired time
limit without any hindrances. Moreover, a working knowledge of leadership theories assist firm
to hire right candidate and put together the best possible team, as well as enable them to get the
job done with a minimum of disputes and delays (Crane and et. al., 2019). Along with this, it
enable them to identify personnel ability or skill and according to that they delegate the work
which improve overall performance of firm as well as enhance individual morale. Hence, there
are various types of theories or concepts such as trait, contingency, situational, transformational
theories and many more. which enable them to manage each business complex issue in a very
ethical way and bring increased level of satisfaction among employees as well as enrich firm
Boeing brand image among competitive marketplace. Thus, Boeing leader must understand the
outcome of each aspects and implement best theories in handling major business issues and
improve the overall performance in an efficient manner. Furthermore, the nature of
organisational behaviour is to identify each personnel potentiality and foster behaviours
conducive to the survival or effectiveness of an establishment. In terms of Boeing, its OB nature
is to render job satisfaction, finding right people, maintaining working culture, conflict resolution
and so on that lead them to obtain profit maximisation with an optimal utilisation of resources.

Contribution of individuals, stakeholders, and leaders in executing organisational mission or
vision
As per the Boeing, its main mission is to be one of the reputed or leading aircraft
company among industry as they believe that the first human that sets foot on Mars will arrive
there through Boing rocket. However, in this statement I signifies that in order to accomplish pre
determined objective in an appropriate time there should be a equal contribution of personnel,
leaders and stakeholders. Hence, in terms of Boeing employer, they should take an initiative to
examine workforce potentiality and based on that they delegate the position which encourage
every employee to put their best effort towards an organisational goal as well as it empowers
team spirit among themselves (Rosemann and vom Brocke, 2015). At the same, if manpower
feel highly motivated and satisfied with working environment then they makes an attempt to
come up with novel ideas and encourage them to participate in every business process that
directly reflects in enhancement of firm proficiency or productivity in an impressive way. On the
other hand, stakeholders are also regarded as major player for an achievement of company
objective as they invest in company whose actions determine the outcome or final result of firm
decisions. Some of Boeing's shareholders are employees, customers, government, creditors
which enlarge firm productivity or profit margin in a better manner. The foremost aim of Boeing
leadership is to determine or examine suitable formulation of strategies or tactics which
empower firm to plan and execute them in proper way within prescribed time period.
Role of leadership strategies within company
Under this aspect, I believes that the transition from the operational to strategic level is an
important process that every leader needs to overcome. It involves many challenges which every
leaders face in accomplishing business objective in an effectual style. Due to the rapid changes in
the business environment and growing competition, changing attitudes of employees from one
generation to other. Thus, Boeing leader must makes an attempt to acknowledge different types
of strategies and acquire best option for an attainment of increased level of sales volume among
competitive marketplace (Amit and Zott, 2015). Moreover, some of the types of strategic
leadership are autocratic, democratic, cross culture and many more in which each of them it
contain unique set of roles and purpose for obtaining impressive outcome that help them to
survive within competitive industry. Additionally, to gain the understanding of leadership
strategies lead Boeing superior to maintain a better relationship with personnel as well as enable

them to add value to its brand image in an innovative and creative style. In relation to Boeing,
democratic leadership plays a vital role as it empower its leader to render equal participation for
its employees that build better relationship within its functional area in an effective way.
Need of leader to critically evaluate motivational theories
As per my views, each and every concepts or theories plays a integral role within an
organisational as it enable them to generate a better working condition as well as encourage them
to enormous growth opportunity which bring increased level of satisfaction or motivation among
workforce. However, the core aim of every theory is that fulfilment of demand or need of
personnel in order to add value among the mindset of employees that lead them to acquire best
positioning in competitive industry. Hence, there are different kinds of theory like Maslow
hierarchy need theory, Alderfer's ERG theory, McClelland achievement motivational concept
and so on which act as a proper guidance or direction to manger in order to implement best
decision for attaining high level of productivity in a better manner (Smith and Cockburn, 2016) .
In addition, the information about each aspect assist Boeing leader to recognise its manpower
potentiality and appreciate them by providing certificates, increase in salary, bonus, memento,
prizes that generate positive attitude among workforce and they put their best contribution
towards a completion of firm objective. Apart from this, it enrich Boeing's employee engagement
and it directly reflect over enlargement of its proficiency as well as strengthens organisation
brand image in an industry for a longer period of time in an effective or efficient way.
Additionally, the primal benefit which Boeing can acquire from motivated manpower that it lead
them to determine innovative ideas as well as can easily manage complex business situation in a
better mode. Due to this, Boeing can gain competitive advantage in an effective way.
Completion of questionnaire
In my opinion, leadership is an individual capability who encompasses a skill of
encouraging, inspiring, motivating followers for an accomplishment of business goals or
objective in better manner. According to Beoing case study, its leaders follows democratic style
of leadership as he provide equal platforms to every manpower and render proper training or
development programs in order to overcome shortcomings of employees in an effective way
(Falkner, 2017). Along with this, it enable them to take an initiative to invite its employees
towards company major issues or procedures which help them to generate high level of
motivation among personnel and it strengthen Boeing's productivity and profit margin. In

addition, one of the main threat which Boeing's leader undergoes that to handle people queries
or confusion as well as answer to all disputes which arises due to crashes of two aircraft which
imposed negative impact over community or society towards Boeing's brand image. Hence,
Boeing's employer must overlook the equipments which they utilise for the manufacturing of
aircraft and arrange alternative option so that they can use in time of emergency and develop the
feeling of secure among each customer (Abdelkafi and Täuscher, 2016). Moreover, they should
encourage personnel to become more flexible in terms of adopting innovative or novel views as
well as provide all internal or external gains or losses information to stakeholders so that they
can maintain their relationship with firm and it add value to their brand image.
PART- 2
Introduction
The term business organisation describes how establishment are structured and how it
will help them in meet their goals in an impressive or productive style within assigned time
period. However, in general every enterprise are designed to focus on either generating profit as
well as improving society or community (Sherman, 2014). Hence, this case study is based upon
Boeing Company which is one the reputed or branded multinational firm and it is commenced in
the year of 1916. Moreover, it is among the largest global aerospace manufacturer and defence
contractor. Under this document, it highlights the issues which Boeing faces and its impact over
firm productivity and profitability ratio. Along with this, the implication of several models or
theories related to leadership in order to bring out trenchant outcome and add value among the
mindset of community or society in an innovative way. The main rationale behind conducting
this report that scholar can acquire in depth knowledge of current or emerging market trend and
also can enrich their capability in order to obtain best outcome in a improved way.
Overview of leadership styles
In every organisation, an impressive or productive leadership plays crucial role as it take
initiative to inspire, motivate, encourage followers in order to accomplish their business goal or
objective in a better manner. There are various types of leadership style which differ in every
company who assist their subordinate to attain high level of proficiency by putting their best
contribution towards it. Moreover, business leadership involves an ability of management to

achieve goals, act decisively and beat competitors while instilling the spirit within an
organisation (Saadat and Eskandari, 2016) Furthermore, it is important because it touches both
internal and external stakeholders of an industry in order to gain competitive advantage. Strong
leaders can help firm to maximise productivity and attain their mission whereas weak leadership
generate conflict within business premises and disturbs whole working environment which
directly reflect over proficiency rate (Cheng, Yang and Sheu, 2014). It should be considered
that there are many different effectual and ineffective leadership style and it's outcome get
projected in each leaders capability at the time of complex business situation. Hence, each
leadership style contains its own positive and negative impact within business operation or
function as well as it directly impact over firm productivity and profitability ratio. In addition, on
the basis of potentiality leadership style is divided into three types and its impact over Boeing
leadership is explained below:
Ethical
It is the art of leading people and making good decision based on defined set of values
such as fairness, accountability, honest, equality and respect. In fact, these values form the core
of ethical leadership (Wilson, 2015).
Advantages
It ensures that each manpower follows the law which is imposed by government over
company in order to bring high level of employee satisfaction. Moreover, ethical leaders creates
an emphasis on being conscientious.
Disadvantage
To pursue this style within business then they must develop, implement and maintain a
compliance program which meets and vision. However, these activity can be very expensive to
develop and they tend to take a lot of time to design.
Authentic
It is type of management style in which an individual act in a real, genuine and sincere
way that is true and proponents of this style signifies that this category of leaders is best
positioned to inspire trust, loyalty and strong performance from employees.
Pros
One of the foremost benefit of this is the enhanced relational engagement it brings about
as it main centring over objective and personnel inner behaviour for which superior takes an

initiative to maintain trust and cohesion among group (Tenzer and Pudelko, 2015). Moreover, it
is practical based style which empowers managers to provide accurate or relevant solution to
workforce that create better working culture.
Cons
The biggest drawback of this theory is its infancy as it does not contain coherent or
unified concept because various authors describes the term in own idea which generate confusion
or ambiguity among manpower and face difficulty to pursue the same in their functional areas.
Democratic
This is also refer as participative leadership style, which states that an ability of a person
to redistribute power or authority between employees and managers to provide personnel
involvement in decision making. However, it is regarded as one of the best style which majority
of the firm follows within their functional areas for an attainment of high level of profit margin.
Benefits
It is mainly known for solving complex issue as leaders have an ability to work
collaboratively, using consensus of opinion to get things done in a right manner (Vom Brocke
and Rosemann, 2014). Along with this, it encourage each leader to participate its employer
within business activities like problem solving or decision making process. Due to this, it
generate increased level of motivation and each individual put their best contribution for an
accomplishment of business goal or objective in an innovative or creative manner.
Drawbacks
The negative effect of this is that the consultation process could result in procrastination.
If an organisation face project or issue that is urgent, democratic leaders cannot usually work to
timescales required. This is because it consume time to talk to a number of individuals and
gather variety of opinions which challenge superior to manage working environment.
However, the above mentioned various kinds of styles has its own influence over Boeing
and it is directly linked with proficiency (Koljatic and Silva, 2015). Hence, a current issue which
Boeing undertakes in a company that the two fatal airline crashes which took almost 346 people
lives and due to this it generated negative impact among population regarding firm brand image.
Therefore, Boeing leader must identify the issue or conflict and take a corrective course of action
in order to gain high level of manpower satisfaction that improves overall performance of firm as
well as assist them to acquire best positioning within an industry. Furthermore, Muilenberg

ensures that his each and every decision should bring satisfaction and positivity among
community and also on manpower i.e. it must be in ethical, authentic and effective so that they
can easily obtain maximisation of profit with an optimum utilisation of resources.
In addition, one of Boeing's main competitor is Airbus which is known as international
pioneer in an aerospace sector (Carayannis, Sindakis and Walter, 2015). However, an
impressive or productive leadership enable company to accomplish its goals in an innovative or
creative style without any obstacles. As per this case study, it is mentioned three styles i.e.
ethical, authentic an democratic. Hence, in case of ethical , it enable Airbus leader to influence or
lead others if they are able to maintain a consistent energy that remains morally focused,
determined and forthright. In context of authentic style, it emphasize leader to build legitimacy
through honest relationships with followers which value their input and are built on an
honourable foundation. Generally, this superior are regarded as positive attitude with truthful self
concept who promote openness in an impressive and productive style. Moreover, in regard of
democratic way it assist managers to determine each personnel capability and based on that they
assign roles and responsibility which bring full motivation among manpower to put their best
effort towards an accomplishment of business vision in an better manner (Luciano, Mathieu and
Ruddy, 2014). Additionally, it enable leader to invite its workforce in major firm activities which
improves their morale and strengthen organisation productivity or profit margin in a productive
way. Thus, it is a capability of each individual to make use of suitable style in each difficulties
and implement best decision in order to acquire sustainable profitability ratio within competitive
marketplace for a longer period of time.
Evaluation of Mulienburg's style
The Boeing Company is an American multinational corporation that designs,
manufactures and sales air planes, rotor crafts, missiles and satellites worldwide. It is among
largest global aerospace manufacturers. Dennis Muilenburg joined the organisation in 1985 and
has held a wide range of engineering, management and key executive roles (Parker, 2014).
Muilenburg follows a democratic style of leadership as he is of the view of having a team with
different thoughts, backgrounds and experiences that makes for a better enterprise and decision
making. He also says that it is vital to understand where you may have gaps in your knowledge
or experience and to surround yourself with a team that complements that and can give
suggestions through their new and innovative ideas.
Document Page
Positive impacts of Mulienburg's leadership style :
Team work is needed in an aerospace industry for producing effective results.
Participation of subordinates in decision making is essential as new and innovative ideas
can be applied before coming to a decision.
Provides opportunity for development and growth to the subordinates.
High morale and commitment towards attaining goals and high creativity among the
workers.
A free and independent environment to work encourages workers to participate actively
in the functions of organisation.
Negative impacts of Mulienburg's leadership style :
Decision making can become time consuming as every employee will come up with an
idea and want to be heard.
It can result in indiscipline due to the increased freedom to express views and different
views may clash thus creating a chaos. As Boeing have to face the worst crisis over the
fifty year that two fatal airline crashes due to which 346 people was died. This have great
impact on the company's brand value and their customer base. For overcoming these
issues they are adopting various effective methods so that the impact of this incident can
be finish. As because of this incident company's profitability was hugely impacted before
this incident they was earned from this aircraft almost 737 accounts in which 33%
revenue and 55% profit. But now company has to face various financial crisis and they
are going in downfall position day by day.
For dealt with the result of the crashes they are trying to solve out the impact of this
crisis on the business. At present, Boeing had make the team of top engineers and technical
experts who are continuously working tirelessly. They are trying to give assurance to their
customers that incident like Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 will never happen in future and also
they are updating their software according to the latest technologies. For updating their software
they are focussing on a comprehensive, take more time and follow disciplined approach.
Moreover, they are providing effective educational material and training which their pilots wants
to enhance their skills and abilities. So that the possibilities of unintentional accidents can be
reduced.

The efforts which are doing by the Boeing have also impact on its stakeholders in the
both positive and negative manner. As the company is surrounded by the various problems but
they are efficiently try to resolve out these problems. Stakeholders of the company are
government, employees, suppliers, shareholder and many others. As because the company's
share value have fallen by the 10% which have negative impact on the investors and brand image
of the company. For increase the brand image and customer base of the company they are
adopting various strategies and plans. As the shareholder and employees of the company seen
these efforts of the company positively. They are providing various training programs and using
updated software and more focus on the research programs so that the best methods can be used
in the business organisation. On the other hand, the strategies and efforts of the company will not
able to impact on the supplier, investors and customers mind. As the company is going through a
very bad condition as their financial resources, customers belief, brand value all are going in the
decreasing position which have negative impact on the company.
All the stakeholders have different for the company as it is not easy to maintain the belief
of the customers again as in the aircraft crashes many people was died due to which customers
are not able to believe again. Whereas the stakeholder and employees are the working within the
organisation they can see the efforts of the company as the company is trying hard to overcome
from this crisis.
If the Boeing will do hard efforts to overcome from all the crisis then they will be able to
again build their brand image and customers base. They needs to stable on his decision to solve
out the negative impact of this aircraft crashes. They needs to do more efforts like they needs to
do more research about market and customers, needs to adopt new and updated technologies and
innovations that they can improve their working conditions. But first they should the believe in
their customers, for this they needs to assure them that they will be safe and tells them the
reasons behind the aircraft crashes. They needs to do higher efforts in order to maintain the
sustainability and brand value of their organisation again.
Recommendation
Some of the suggestion which Boeing's leader Muilenberg can follow within their
business operation or function are mentioned below:
The major drawback which Boeing leader contains that at the time of difficulty they got
disappeared which give arise to community and employees to go against company goal.
Document Page
Thus, to overcome this Muilenberg should stay with company at the time of adversities
so that each personnel can feel motivated and can render ideas in order to gain
competitive advantage. Along with this, its stakeholders empowers to provide novel
thoughts which give leader several options and help them in implementing best strategic
decision that enlarge its market share or size in an impressive or productive style.
Additionally, Boeing leader must examine the present and upcoming trend of market and
based on that provide enormous opportunities to its employees which empower personnel
to put their best contribution towards an attainment of sustainable proficiency in
competing business environment.
Conclusion
It has been summarised from the preceding case study that an effective leadership style
enable an organisation to acquire best positioning among competitive marketplace as well as can
easily adopt innovative technologies which lead them to strengthen their productivity or
proficiency. Moreover, leader must be assessable in all complex situation of an organisation in
order to bring out impressive or productive solution for obtaining profit maximisation with an
optimum utilisation of resources within proscribed time limit without any obstacles. However,
in order to survive among dynamic business environment, Boeing leader must be more flexible
and innovative in comparison of present situation for acquiring best position in an effective and
efficient way.
