Introduction
The term reflective learning is responsible for recollecting the experience of the learners
with the aim of helping them to enhance their various skills (Nurhayati, Rizaldi and Fatimah,
2020). Such skills will directly improve the overall performance of the learners in their learning
process. The purpose of the report is to get the overview of the learning experience with the help
of GIBS Model (Nelson-Royes, 2018).
Main Body
GIBS Model
It was developed in the year of 1988 by Graham Gibbs for the purpose of giving structure to
learning from experiences and it comprises of six stages (Paulson and Laverty, 2018). As it is
known for offering framework for examining the experience with the way to plan on the basis of
things that went well or did not go well. This model is linked with learning from various
situations that the learners are experiencing on a regular basis. This model is unique as it
comprises of various emotions, action & knowledge and the individual can examine their
situation (Carroll and Harris, 2020). The six stages are explained below-
Description
The purpose of this description is to review and evaluate a reflection assessment for a March
24th interview which was conducted during the assessment center. We went through an
interview which was conducted during the assessment center procedure for the post of junior
development chef at simply hospitality, which I applied for. The job was advertised on February
14th, and I read through the offer, reading the job description and person requirements in order to
tailor my cover letter to the position. Our initial step was to polish our resumes and cover letters
to ensure that I was the best candidate for the job. The main target of the report is to present the
reflection assessment in relation to the interview which was conducted during the assessment
center with proper explanation of the interview process that is applied for the position of a junior
development chef for just hospitality. I got to know about the job description and person
specification in order to adequate my cover letter for the job applied. My initial step was to build
up our CV and cover letter ensuring I was the right candidate for that position. In the whole
process, I have utilised various tools in order to send my offer letter in relation with the job
description (Mezirow, 2018). Also, in my college I have shown my CV with one of my

colleagues and he went through my CV to make sure I noted all the main points which are
required for the job role. As we both were applying for the same thing and same role. In addition
to this, we have also talked over our CVS’s by giving positive feedbacks with the aim of meeting
the requirements and be eligible for the day of the assessment centre. Before I submit my CV, I
had to change my cover letter because my cover letter was too long for the application that is
why, he recommended me to be more concise with clear overview so I could justify myself that
why I was the suitable candidate for this role. After evaluating it and I made small changes on
the cover letter, so that I can give a clear image of my skills to the reader. I have also understood
how important is to have a cover letter and a well-structured CV for the person who is interview
which was conducted during the assessment centering you. I completed my CV and uploaded it,
anticipating the day of the assessment centre, which was held on March 24, 2022.
Feelings
I felt excited as everyone was so supportive in my learning journey and my mentor guided me
by conducting one to one session for the purpose of preparing the assessment centre and in
addition to this, I was given various advices such as to be calm and relax in any situation or
circumstances. I have felt the best learning experience as I got the chance to absorb important
learnings and information to support my future. In addition, before preparing for this learning
journey, i was not able to manage my time properly and I was not organised enough. After
preparing for it, I noticed my basis activities which are now properly managed in an organised
manner (Yoto, Suyetno and Tjiptady, 2020). I also noticed that being organised, I got to save my
energy and time and I also developed various skills such as interpersonal skills and time
management skills. Also, I got clarity in my professional goals by aligning my long-term goals
and taking responsibilities. I learnt to contribute more and to eliminate the number of excuses.
Along with it, I was able to get rid of distractions as earlier I used to get affected due to
distractions. In this process, I learnt to set limit to my goals as I got to know the importance of
writing my goals at the end of each day. Through this learning process, I was able to gain the
level of knowledge in relation to the technical skills, conceptual skills, interpersonal skills,
Networking skills and communication skills (Markkanen and et.al.,2020). That is why, now I am
more self-assured while attaining the task in the group. With the assistance of communication
skills, I was able to deliver and convey my message in a way that can be understood by the team
members and people in more clear manner. With the help of this process, I got to accept about

several aspects that is my goals, self-discovery, talent and my capabilities. The overall journey,
played a crucial role in my planning of my personal and academic development. Due to this, all
the learners were able to divide the tasks into short term and long-term targets that will help in
accomplishment of the desired tasks. Along with it, I was also able to make the sentence in a
correct manner and making use of the correct words and vocabulary. Earlier, I was not able to
properly manage and plan the structure of the academic writing but now i can manage it easily
with confidence.
Evaluation
I got to learn so many things from the interview which was conducted during the assessment
center and that learnings will be further implemented in the future. All such information allowed
me to have a clear vision about my strength and weakness. Things that went well was all the
learners were able to learn and present the good quality work on time. Now, I am able to make
valuable judgements as per the situations and my mentor gave me positive feedback that helped
to alter my mistakes so that I can perform better and bring more opportunities for myself. I used
to think that learning journey can be a complex journey but it was not as I followed all the set of
rules for my overall betterment. Managing all the task used to make me nervous but now i learnt
the importance of urgent or important tasks. Due to this proper management, I am able to
prioritise the tasks in any situation which tend to reduce the chances of failure. In the initial stage
I was very nervous before managing the tasks that whether I will properly manage it or not.
Earlier, my time got wasted in the process of managing all the tasks. However, I tried to manage
it but meanwhile managing my time, I was also analysing that if I could not follow it then my
time would be waste and the results would be nothing. After involving in this learning process, I
felt motivated and encouraged so that I can properly follow this learning in my life easily by
keeping and coordinating my daily-routine actions. In the academics, creative thinking is also
considered to be crucial as it assists the learners in dealing the information and evaluating the
evidence. Due to this learning, I am able to realise my own experiences that has created a major
impact on my critical thinking. I also got to know about various techniques and tips to improve
the level of my critical thinking. The term critical reading is explained as the reading which aids
the readers in making use of various models and processes to attract the people. When I attended
this module, I got to learn the techniques in reading by seeking knowledge on the basis of my
personality. Now, I can say that I have a better understanding and grip on the topic with better

understanding of the words and vocabulary. Along with it, professionalism comprises of various
attributes, qualities and behavioural aspects. Any learner can enhance the professionalism by
different factors for example dress properly as the occasion, maintain good personal hygiene,
keeping a check on emotions that is temper, voice tone on all electronic communication, vulgar
language, be accountable for failures, success, make proper time management and many others.
Hence, some aspects of academic integrity and professionalism are crucial for all the learners.
Anyone can improve academic integrity by different parts like one should cite writing code and
reports, utilize the resources to improve, to avoid complicated situations one should start the
work early to finish before the due date and mainly use the resources which are approved by
mentors to right-down the given work. By keeping all the things managed, it helps me offering
peace of mind, doing correct things which will reduce the stress and enhance the quality of life
(Weng and et.al., 2021).
Analysis
After going through this learning stage, I was able to find out my areas and various weakness in
which I require to improve. Such as by preparing time-table, I noticed that it would assist me a
lot in proper management of the activities within a limited period of time. The management of
time-table was a complex process as the process of following is more complex than framing it. I
understood the ways to enhance my problem-solving skills as the world is changing rapidly,
companies need such employees who are all-rounder and can solve various problems with
innovative ideas in order to bring overall development. I also examined that I can easily manage
myself by proper planning and execution for any particular activity. Along with it, I observed
that one of my friends is also following the same pattern so it uplifted me that when he can
follow it easily then why can't I? I also examined that by following this routine and time-table I
was able to upgrade my inquiry skills, time-management skills and technology skills that will
help me in building the self-confidence and self- esteem too. For the learners, there are various
skills and techniques to acquire information that is by reading, hearing or absorbing. Through
this learning, I understood the things better and I got to know about the reflective model that
supported me in reflecting my experience that happened in my life with the aim of improving it
(Dahl, Peltier and Schibrowsky, 2018).

From the experience of learning journey, I am now more professional and I understood the
importance of team work. Furthermore, I also learnt from others as it is also significant to
become more confident by observing others. By bringing professionalism in the learning process
will lead to improve the level of performance of all the learners as we will be ready to face the
real world. Also, I will continue to keep myself organised by putting all the tasks managed and
with the help of the Gibb's reflective cycle, I am able to have better clarity in my thoughts over
various thoughts, topics and subjects in my learning process. This reflective cycle has made me a
better person by being more focused and developed that has also aided me in doing the
evaluation about flaws and loopholes that were there within my features. This model particularly
helped me in enhancing my communication skills and adaptive thinking which facilitates me in
thinking clearly and in a systematic manner about my learning experiences. By using this model,
I felt motivated and encouraged in making sense of circumstances and work out to implement
how to perform better in next time.
Action Plan
Action plan is the plan that supports in making sure about my success in order to provide the
support and opportunities necessary for my growth. I will choose a learning style to plan ahead
my goals and the next time, I will be working with a team or a group I will be more responsible
and positive towards the other members. The roles and duties will be assigned as per the power
and capabilities of the learners for the better outcome. With the help of guidance, I will be able to
present my ideas and opinions in front of others with full confidence (Koprowska, 2020).
Conclusion
According to the above analysis, reflective learning is a tool that is used to improve the
degree of learning for learners in the context of enriching the overall experience and learning. It
also takes time to perfect and adopt all of the reflective learning approaches that will save time,
effort, and energy.
