INTRODUCTIONExternal business environment of enterprise consists of those factors that are outside thefirm and influences its ability to carry out its operations in an effective manner. It can beassessed that such factors are uncontrollable and even after implementing the strategies, it cannotbe managed by the management of firm. Therefore, it is crucial for the manager of organizationthat they should constantly collect the information regarding different external factors andimplement the same in order to attain desired outcomes. With the help of such type of fact, it canbe complied that management is able to take the best decision in regard to not affect planning,organizing, directing and controlling the different parts of firm (Frynas and Mellahi, 2011). In the recent study, hospitality industry has been undertaken because it is currently one ofthe fastest growing sectors of the economy. Marriott International has been selected which is aluxury hospitality firm of UK. Moreover, hotel operates in varied destinations and provides widerange of services to the customers in order to attain their satisfaction. As hotel is operating indifferent countries, it is affected by the external environment that causes direct impact upon theactivities of business. Here, it showcases the direct impact upon the socio-economic change onthe development of business. Further, it also affects the legal and political environments upon thebusiness and service industries. Along with this, statutory requirements are essential forestablishing and developing the business operations in hospitality firm (Gitman and McDaniel,2008). TASK 1Covered in PPTTASK 22.1 Influence of local government on MarriottHere, the influence of local government upon Marriott hotel is being assessed. However,the local government of England is being divided into different parts such as county council anddistrict, borough or city council. Thus, in certain parts of the country it involves only one unitarytrier of local government is being seen. It involves unitary authorities such as London Boroughand metropolitan borough etc. However, it can be assessed that the local government of Englandis responsible for different type of services. Similarly, theresponsibilities related to the tax collection, recycling of waste and housing facilities etc. isfulfilled by the city council (Fraser and Pong, 2009). While, the local government causes essential impact upon the operations of Marriotthotel. For instance, county council handles all the waste management operations. Thus, it isessential for hotel to follow the guidelines provided by government to attain desired targets. Forinstance, it is essential for hotel to follow the rules and regulations formulated by the UKgovernment in order to attain results. As all such authorities plays a major role in influencing thefunctions of enterprise (Lenza, Pill and Reichlin, 2010). However, before introducing any newtype of products or services within country, hotel is required to obtain prior permission from thegovernment. Because it helps firm to deliver best services to clients and attain satisfaction. 2.2 Evaluating the role of European Union along with its impact on business and service industryThe role of EU states that it is essential for businesses to follow the regulationsformulated by the country. However, the member who works within the stated union needs tocomply the regulations of the country so that best results can be attained. Thus, it states that thelaw derives by the EU possess significant impact upon the business and service industries.Further, it is essential for the hotel to form different regulations in regard to labor that workswithin business. However, such policy works in order to gain advantage for employees so thatthey can accomplish objectives. It also helps employees from being exploited by the employer ofbusiness (Mariappanadar, 2012). Thus, it is essential for Marriott to undertake such type ofpolicy effectively in order to make sure that employees are safeguarded within hotel. EU alsoformed competition policy of UK. However, such policy focuses upon the developingcompetitive business environment in order to overcome the issues faced by similar industries. Itis essential for firms to follow the laws as per guidelines so that competitors policies cannot beaffected. Thus, business is required to comply with different ethical practices at the time offormulating strategy in order to compete with certain other business operating within the nation(Milner and Tingley, 2011). 2.3 Role of pressure groupsHere, pressure group can be stated that such type of group do not elect any person butinfluences the regulations which are being formulated by the UK government. Further, suchgroup also possess the ability that influences the rules and policies imposed by the government.4
