patient choices to improve the quality (Aveyard and et. al., 2013). Major changes in
commissioning of the services provided to the customers. In the old structure, primary care trust
which comes in the first contact were local which was changed to operate at national level.
Moreover, strategic health authority was also shifted to the 27 local areas teams which shared all
the responsibility and clinical commissioning groups. There was development of the new group,
Clinical Commissioning Groups which operated at local level and was liable for purchasing care
services on-behalf of patients. Further, changes are made in accountability to patients and the
consumers. The old structure of the NHS used the Local Involvement Network where major
operation are completed by individual and community which was changed to Heathwatch which
provided the customer feedback and services to the NHS. Public health England was developed
as part of Department of Health to protect and improve services (Moss, 2017). Along with this
accountability, foundation trust and patient choice are the areas where changes are made. All the
service changes improved the patient's health and social care along with reduction in prices.
Employment and educational facilities are also increased. Changes has offered good payment,
services, increase in employment and friendly work environment. Due to impact customer and
staff satisfaction increased.
There are various principles which had made changes in the NHS structure. Such
principles includes the implementation of the sustainable development, ensuring clinical
viability, financial viability, optimising estate and workforce utilisation and development,
clinical governance and use of business intelligence. All this principles have helped in
maintaining and enhancing the service of NHS in England (Glasby, 2017).
Changes in NHS depends on various factors such as stakeholder, management,
employees need and society. They can be implemented using the proper strategy, monitoring and
evaluation process. First things is to identify the places where changes are required by the
patients, consumers and workers of the NHS. According to those changes the strategy must be
developed which must contain the benefits for all the members and then modification must be
done. Moreover, patients feedback also helps to improve the facility and services of NHS.
As discussed above, monitoring helps in improving the quality of health and social care
services (Costa-Font and et. al., 2016). This can be done through two methods which are taking
the feedback of the patients and consumers. By this techniques, staff of NHS can easily
understand the areas where they lack or changes they required to improve customer services.
