Chapter One – Introduction
Background to the Research
Motivated employees tend to comprises and includes of the bringing of higher level of
enthusiasm as well as high energy level and commitment that brings higher creativity and
performance level in employees (Hoang and et. al., 2022). Motivated employees are tending to
be the key of success for every organisation as it drives the higher commitment level as well as
bring energy to workers of a form to effectively perform its everyday role (Berdicchia, Bracci
and Masino, 2021). Beside this, it has been also seen and find out that the motivated employees
are tend to be more loyal to the form and also show a higher level of dedication towards the work
thus ensures and lead out timely achievement and accomplishment of set organisational. Thus, an
implication can be made that motivated employees are vital asset of every form therefore it is
essential to analysis and determine the factors that help in motivating the employees.
Significance of the Problem
Lack of employee motivation is a significant issues and problem that is being encountered
and faced by the food retail sector of the UK that is creating many challenges in form of decline
in their performance and productivity level. It has been seen that the spared of the global
pandemic of the covid-19 has affected the level of communication and direct interaction with the
employees along with leading higher stress and anxiety in employees. beside this, the issue of
poor leadership as well as lack of workplace flexibility and ineffective development
opportunities are also causing the issue of lack of motivation that is negatively impacting the
output level of UK food retail sector (Budzanowska-Drzewiecka and Tutko, 2021). Therefore,
current study is significant and rationale as it focuses and emphasis on the investigate about the
factors that motivate employees in the UK food retail sector to mitigate the issue of lack of
motivation.
Statement of Purpose
The statement of purpose of current study is tend to focused and emphasised on the
analysing the key factors that ensure and brings the higher motivation level with the employees

of UK. It has been implicated that every business organisation has the main purpose and aim of
achieving higher growth and success that is possible only through having an efficient and
committed workforce. Therefore, the main purpose and focus of current study is on analysis
these factors that supports higher motivation in employees to achieve higher success and growth
ate within the food retail sector of UK (Fjendbo, 2021). Beside this, the food retail sector of UK
is also hard hit by the global pandemic of covid-19 as sudden lockdown and strict social
distancing norms are causing many challenges in form of decline in output and performance
level. Further, the spread of covid-19 also carted lack of motivation in employees through
leading higher anxiety and stress about health and safety of workplace. Therefore, current project
is focused on the purpose of the analysing factors that are vital in regain and enhancing the
motivation in employees within food retail sector of UK.
Statement of the Problem
The current study is based on the problem of ineffective motivation level within the
employees of UK retail sector that is causing and leading the reduce productivity level along
with decline in overall productivity and output of UK retail sector.
Aim(s) and Objectives
Aim
The aim of current project is, “To analysis the importance of concept of motivated
employees along with investigate about the factors that motivate employees in the UK food retail
sector. A research project on Food retail sector of UK.
Objectives
To review about the meaning and importance of the motivated employees within a firm.
To investigate into the factors that motivate employees in the UK food retail sector.
To review the key challenges faced in motivating the employees within the Food retail
sector of UK.
To recommend some effective measures and strategy that can be adopted within the UK
food retail sector to ensure higher motivation and performance level in its employees.

Dissertation structure
1. Introduction - In this part, a brief overview of the study along with research aim
objectives and questions are provided. It also includes significance of the study along
with reflecting about the research problem on which the study is along with providing of
the purpose statement.
2. Literature Review - This section involves review of different literatures in which the
viewpoints of different authors are compared on the themes associated with the topic. It
forms the main part of dissertation in which information from various sources are
gathered so that researcher will be able to draw valid conclusion of study.
3. Research Methodology - It consists of different methodologies which help researcher in
performing the research study systematically and accomplish its aim. It is also a crucial
part of study as with the assistance of different methodologies, investigator will be able to
conduct study systematically in proper and structured manner.
4. Data Analysis and Research Findings - In this part, data is analysed and the findings are
discussed which further help researcher to draw conclusion of the study.
5. Conclusion and Recommendations - This part provides summary based on the overall
report. It also includes some recommendations which are providing on the basis of
findings of the study to organisation. It is the last part of overall dissertation which
involves summary of entire project.
Chapter Two – Literature Review
This section of the project comprises of the review of the pre-existing set of data that is
present in form of existing literature that supports a better base and understanding about selected
topic. The current literature review is based on the factors that supports motivated employees
within the food retail sector of UK along with analysing its set objectives for which analysis and
use of online form of articles and journal has been made a discussion of which is provided is
below:
