2FREE SCHEMES AT ETISALAT COMPANY 1. Introduction When the participants of an organization such as the executive members, employees and stakeholders balance amongst each other to run the company efficiently, the balance is referred to as corporategovernance(Lebedevaetal.2016).TheorganizationofEtisalatCommunications, established in the year 1976, has its headquarters in Abu Dhabi and is considered as one of the leading telecommunications service provider in UAE (Khan2018). However, during the pandemic of COVID-19 in the recent times, the company is facing certain governance issue. Hence, they are unable to provide standard level of services and efficient network connectivity to its customers during such crisis. 2. Identification of the Issue The Etisalat telecommunications group during the pandemic crisis faced accountability issues in the governance of their operations because they were providing free services as well as plans to their clients and various departments or employees in them were not even aware of it (Yermack 2017). To achieve a good corporate governance, within a company, every member within the system should be accountable of each other’s activities, the on-going processes and the reports such that everybody can take measures together in the time of crisis. However, in the given telecom company, the stakeholders were not aware of the free plans and services provided to the customers (Tapang and Bassey2017). Eventually, when they found out they did not support the decision taken by the top- level executive and stood against such services. They could not accept the huge loss that the company will face after the pandemic is over and did not agree to provide such free services to the customers. 3. Literature Review This section of the proposal will incorporate various theories and models such as SWOT analysis, PESTLE analysis and Porter’s Five Forces model to determine the present scenario of the company and whether this new business scheme will contribute beneficially to the organization or not. The SWOT analysis will determine the strength of this venture that is gaining the customer loyalty base whereas the weakness will be financial crisis of the company itself (Gürel and Tat2017). The company can grab this opportunity to amplify their business to newer customers and if the other telecom companies incorporate the same scheme, it will be a threat to the company. By the PESTLE analysis, the company can evaluate whether the political government will support the cause and will contribute to the social status of the company (Düerkop and Huth2017). Porter’s Five Forces model will help the company to determine the competition in the market and take steps accordingly.
