Introduction
The case study of a bakery has been given wherein the family owns the business with around
70 workers and there has been a rise in the revenue in the previous year by more than $13.5
million. There has been a rise in orders because of its healthy range of offerings. Still there
has been a loss of some key accounts due to lack of information and effective tracking. B
bakery feels that it is important to invest in accounting software so that business can grow
further.
1. Define business processes
a)
A business procedure is any act or set of facts that will help in retaining the particular
business objective. These procedures can be improved by the business process management.
In case this bakery is not able to carry out certain procedures internally because if the
resources are costly then it can make use of business process outsourcing. For this business, it
is important that the accounts are managed by the business and for this the business has
decided to utilise accounting software (Geerts, 2011). If accounting software would be
utilised then it would be useful for all other departments and processes. The accounting
procedures will help in managing the supply chain and therefore the sales would also be
impacted. It would help in retaining key accounts and therefore the business will have more
sales. So for the operations of the bakery, every business process including the accounts has
to be taken care of. This bakery will perform similar activities just like a usual Baker.
B bakers perform bakery business selling goods to supermarkets in different outlets. There is
a picture of customer base with few of the client says that major customers. Therefore it is
important for the bakery to have some of production units, supply chain management,

sales and marketing Department, accounting and finance department, human resource
management procedures. The supply chain management procedure will handle purchase of
supplies from different suppliers such as food suppliers, milk suppliers, etc. The production
procedural utilise all the supplies for producing bakery items. After that the inventory and
logistics procedure will require storage of ports and delivering to different outlets.
Accounting & Finance procedure will carry out the financial and accounting activities such as
being to the staff members, being to suppliers, collecting the revenues and maintaining of the
accounting records. The human resources procedure is well take care of the staff members
hiding, retaining, managing, payroll etc. The sales procedure will include taking of water in
selling the products to perspective markets. The marketing procedure is involved in
promotion and development of the business. All of these procedures are interdependent and
in case any one of them is impacted then the sales of the business invested key accounts. For
staying in operations, it is important that we first have to take care of all the business
procedures.
2. Develop business requirements

Every procedure in B bakery, as discussed above, is significant and necessary. But the core
processors are supply chain management, production, accounts and human resources
management. Looking at the scenario, the accounts procedure is highly significant for all the
businesses because it acts just as fuel to the entire business procedures. The operation of B
bakery has been expanding from past few years but it has observed that few of its key
accounts have been lost. There is a focused team of accountants who deal with management
of accounts, bookkeeping, recording and maintaining accounts. However the accounts can't
be utilised for making competitive decisions and since the business has not been able to offer

competitive prices there for a few of the major clients are already gone to the competitors.
After realising this fact, the business requires further information so that it can operate

information can be gained by business processes and market researchers. This is searches and
studies would help the business to utilise the information for strategic decision making and
therefore the business can grow effectively.
It is important that B bakery has an accounting information system and therefore it has to
invest in any accounting software which solves all the purpose. Therefore the business
requirements of this bakery are as given below:
- Expansion of the accounts,
- integration of all of the business procedure is and accounting system so that better
decisions can be made,
- investment into any accessible accounting software and it's customisation as further

the bakery which is linked to all other procedures. Therefore, for attaining further details of
the accounts, all other processes also need to provide the information. As discussed above, all

the processes are interlinked and therefore the information from these different processes has
to be consolidated and integrated at a single place. It is important for the business that is
that are found to be aware of the amount which are to be paid to the suppliers, stock held by
the business, stock reordering stage, Probable revenues, expected sales, expenses for raw
materials and other resources, labour cost, etc. All of these have to be kept in mind while

decisions the business would also require external information, which also needs to be stored
into the system. Example of such information would be the prices set by the competitors.

and growth because it will help the business in forecasting through analysis of the past
information being gathered. When the historic information is analysed properly then it can be
