INTRODUCTION
In this contemporary business environment, it is important to focus on change and
development so that goals are accomplished. The gaming industry is changing at rapid scale and in
2020 the global gaming was valued at 162.32 billion (Azadvar, 2018). Main aim of this report is to
understand the change of gaming industry and market situation. The development of gaming
industry is required to be changed due to flexible market situation and audience expectations.
Ubisoft, a French video game company headquartered in France. The company aims at
development of video games and selling video game equipment. It has many competitors such as
Twitch, Wargaming, Zynga etc. This report comprises of historic development of video games
industry, technological innovation, relationship between audience expectations and product
development, presentation of research analysis and practices of contemporary games development.
TASK 1
P1 Explain historic development of video gaming industry
The gaming industry is wider and broader and has been from long period of time. This
video gaming industry, was started back in early 1950's when academic computer scientists
designed simple games. Video games were not into that much popularity till 1970's. During 1970's
first generation of home consoles emerged. Also, at that time mainframe computers came into
popularity. Then, video arcades games came into existence with large, graphics– decorated coin
operated machines at malls and events. These changes within gaming development industry took
place within six generation from 1970- 2013. With these six generation, it is essential to be well
aware of the how games and gaming industry has been changed at wider aspect. New consoles,
concept has been also adopted by sector. The time span of gaming is flexible and which is required
to be examined properly so that analysis is made in correct way (Deterding, 2017).
This is also analysed that with historic development of video gaming industry, quality and
content of games also changes at wider scale. It is too analysed that it is necessary to focus on these
changes as they help in examining of proper market situations and accordingly strategies are
implemented. In 2013, generation of arises including Nintendo's Wii U, Microsoft Xbox One and
Sony Play Station4 (Gerada, 2019. It is examined that PC gaming comprises of large market share
within Asia and Europe for decades and is developing at larger level with digital distribution.
Furthermore, the distribution mode of gaming industry is also changed such as earlier games were
mainly sold via CD/DVDs but now online platform are used like Steam, Origin, uplay etc.
Therefore, explained paragraph shows that historical development of gaming industry and

how the have achieved a success from time to time. From earlier to modern gaming experience
everything is become new as well as different methods have been used which changing situation of
gaming sector.
P2 Discuss technological innovations within game industry
With changing period of time, the business sector has changed at wider scale.
Technological sector has become advanced with development of new tools and technologies.
Technology is changes at rapid scale and every business firm is fully equipped with digital
applications and software. With technological innovation, new software, applications have been
changed. In gaming industry, technology has affected the sector at larger level. In relation of
Ubisoft, they have improved their graphics, gameplay of games with adaption of advanced
technology as well as innovation. It is seen that gaming has changed with advancement in
technology at larger level and the impact is further discussed as follows-
3D Graphics
Graphics are important and focused by gaming industry as it provide a better experience to
users and gamers. With use of graphics, it is easy for users to interact with objects. It is critically
crucial to improve interaction so that users enjoy the game. Old online games were rely on two
dimensional graphics with text based graphics. With improvement and development of graphics
games have now become more realistic. With creation and improvement of the 3D Graphics the
content as well as quality has been developed. Also, 3D graphics provides a new experience to users
(Gray, 2017).
Smartphones technology and gaming apps
It is another impact of technology on gaming industry as with existence of smartphones and
smart devices many games are now available in via smart devices and also gaming application has
been developed through Google Play Store and other modes. In this competitive world, many types
of games has been developed such as casual games, large games etc. With development of gaming
application, it is essential to use smartphones so that games can be played by gamers in effective
manner (Johnson, 2017).
Use of AR and VR tools
AR refers to digital elements to a live view often by using camera on mobile. Whereas VR
refers to a complete illusion-al experience in which a imagined environment is being encountered.
With use of VR and AR tools, it is easy to access advanced gaming experience in better way. This
technological innovation has positively impacted on gaming industry at larger scale. With use of
both AR and VR, gaming experience has improved with better path ways.
