However, the process and motivation of reporting by Tesco Plc on gender equality would provide a picture of the issues and the management concern on this. Chapter 6: Personal reflective statement 6.1 Reflect on the research methods used in the project The method of conducting research has been outlined in chapter three that describes the approach of research and the type of analysis involved. I have tried to gain an insight into the gender equality progress at the workplace such as Tesco Plc. Research would be conducted for gaining an insight into the progress towards gender equality at Tesco Plc using the exploratory and descriptive approach. The methodology of research adopted to address the issue would be both qualitative and somewhat quantitative. I have tried to collect both primary and secondary data for addressing the research issue. Primary data would be gathered by conducting semi structured interview and secondary data is collected from the reports published by the company along with data and information published on website. 6.2 Research method could be used Research work could have been conducted using other method such as cluster analysis that would help in exploring the co-existence of different variables and identifying gender equality pattern at workplace. I could have used a more statistical oriented approach for gaining an insight into the different views of the participants. The data collected could be

Research work could have chosen a cluster solution by determining particular number of clusters in the workplace viewing and having different opinion about gender equality. The theoretical and statistical criteria would form the basis of selection of the solution of cluster. Analysing the clusters having different views about the gender equality could be related to different aspects and testing of the difference in clusters due to such difference could have been done by using some statistical test. In order to assess the association between different views of gender equality for the men and women respondents’ separately, multivariate logistic regression analysis could have been done. Such analysis would have required the adjustment in factors such as age distribution at workplace, socio economic position, type of work and other factors. 6.3 Areas for further research The research work undertaken by me would be in relation to Tesco Plc and hence the generalized issue associated with gender equality is somewhat difficult to obtain. It is recommend to undertake future research work involving broader contexts. A more focused mainstream approach should be adopted for conducting an in depth investigation into the different aspects of gender equality. All the unexplained factors contributing to gender equality at workplace should be researched with a deeper understanding as the current research work did not account all such factors. The analysis of research is limited to cross sectional because of inadequacy in the sets of data.
