Getaways Travels: Airline System Project Development - Week 3 to 12

This document outlines the weekly progress of a project to develop an airline system called 'Getaways Travels'. The project aims to create a user-friendly, reliable, and effective online booking system for flight tickets. Week 3
Initially, in week 3, I have decided the main aim or objective of the proposed project for an
airline system as ‘Getaways Travels’. The objective of this proposed project is to develop and
execute a system based on online booking or reserving of tickets of flight via the internet that
enables users to check the entire scheduling of the arising and available flights. The objective
is to create an application or website that makes the booking of flights easier for passengers
who requires travelling from one place to another. The objective is to decide the facilities that
need to be provided while performing this project and decide its basic model for airline
system which clearly defines the scope of the project in the current market along with its way
or procedure described for its working. The objective is to describe several methods to attract
people towards the created system or application and grab maximum benefits offered by it.
The main objective is to create an airline system application which comes out to be user-
friendly, reliable and very much effective for users. The project objective also defines various
facilities that an airline system will provide to its customers so as to satisfy all their desires
and needs. I will completely focus on this proposed project and will make several strategies
to achieve this objective and fulfil all decided aims.

Week 4
In week 4 I have planned and decided the things that will be offered by the application
designed and developed. The developed application enables the user to purchase the tickets
online for their flights and check the various schedules of flights. The offered things are
planned in a way to make it convenient for the user to book their tickets via the internet. I
have even planned to develop an option for the user that enables them to place a request for a
particular desired seat and services for the choice of food. The application also provides the
user with an option of checking schedule and status of all flights. I have planned to develop
an application that offers with the facility of hotel and cab to the user allowing them to book
hotel accommodation directly and can even book a cab for their travel in the entire city
focusing completely on the passenger's ease. I even have planned to develop an application
that offers the facility of booking of food where a passenger can make a meal request by
choosing a food type at the time of ticket booking. Also, the facilities regarding the
scheduling and searching of flights can be performed by the user that enables the user to
record all flight views and its schedules which helps them to determine the most suitable
flight they can take. Users are even provided to check any flight status related to its arrival
and departure time. It even provides with the facility to the user that they can register
themselves with the application and can directly make payments through the method of E-
payment.

Week 5
In week 5 I have planned to schedule various task and define the scope of the work
performed in the defined project. The work statement includes developing a system and
planning its implementation for online booking of tickets which is basically supported by a
well designed and developed database. The task carried out during the working of Getaways
Travels are being decided and defined in this particular week. I have segregated the task of
Getaways Travels in various ways that project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and
controlling and closing. Following this scheduled task firstly the initiation of the project takes
place where the entire discussion regarding the idea behind the project and its developing
benefits are discussed. Then the entire planning regarding the project like its objective,
statement of work and things offered are being discussed. After that, the execution of that
planned project is done. The project developed and designed is being implemented assuring
its better usage. Later the project that is implemented or executed is completely monitored
and controlled. It visualises or looks the way the project is running and identifying things that
are not going well in the project which are then controlled and managed accordingly. Lastly,
if all goes well with the project then the closing of the project takes place.

Week 6
In week 6 I have planned to divide several responsibilities that were discussed in week 5
among all the members of the team so that the project segregation can be done to achieve the
decided targets efficiently and effectively. The responsibility is segregated into seven
possible types of people that are project manager, quality manager, testing specialist, lead
developer, user interface designer, programmer and research and development manager. The
manager of project use to coordinate with members of the team and the activities they are
performing and later identify any risk associated with the project. The manager of quality
ensures that Getaways Travels project must meet all user expectations and must maintain
several software features. The testing specialist carries out its execution and further testing to
check its efficiency, determine bugs and solve occurred program-related problems. The lead
developer uses to enforce principles of standard and departmental features and even
maintains speed and quality. Designer for user interface mainly uses to develop and design
various interfaces of the user which compares various computer designs and its consistency.
The manager for research and development usually maintains the quantitative and qualitative
project parts that are further expressed to clients. Programmers are generally used for
program creations regarding the development of software and ensure that it is user-friendly.
The responsibility is divided among these people so as to perform the specified function that
was described in week 5.

Week 7
In week 7 I have planned a work breakdown structure for the entire project so that the
execution of this project can be made successful as well as efficient. The working of
getaways travels is initially divided into three sectors that project information, project
planning, execution of the project, controlling and monitoring and lastly closing. During the
information of the project, several processes are taken into account that are methods of
booking of online tickets within the system, and setting various goals for a particular system
and also preparing a scope for the project which comprises of the system design and its
implementation. It must comprise of information related to flight and must be designed in a
way that it can be accessed easily at a particular point. At the time of project planning also
several processes are taken into account that is analysing requirements of project scope along
with an analysis of stakeholder as well as project related budget estimation. Also, it accounts
a finalised budget for the entire project. While the execution of projects several processes are
taken into account which comprises of GUI design and design of the website, it even helps to
merge the database and add services to the card along with the resources of material. Later
the monitoring and controlling of that project take place that accounts developing of schedule
and accounting of resources of a human. Finally, the closing process occurs that accounts
printing of ticket, verifying the working of software and lastly closing of the entire project.

Week 8
In week 8 I have planned to identify several associated risk factors that normally arise on the
part of a team and depending on its management. I have analysed that because it’s a project
need to be performed with a team it causes several issues in arranging meetings which mainly
aims to collect all members of the team at a particular time for achieving targets. I have
analysed that many conflicts have arisen within the members of the team to reach a common
conclusion that causes a lot of delays. I even have analysed that several problems use to occur
because of lack of training to all inexperienced employees or staff and even spread
knowledge among unaware staff. I have analysed the negligence from the side of members of
the team towards the entire work of project within a particular group that leads to a great risk
and major delay in project execution. I have analysed that it became difficult for the entire
team to make the deliveries of the determined project set on the given or desired time due to
lack work tightening and this finally results into not meeting of the desired task. Also, risk
related to customer frequent changing requirements occur that disturbs all planning. I have
analysed that several measures must be determined to overcome these associated risks by
providing proper training to unaware and inexperienced staff.

Week 9
In week 9 I have planned to define various standards of quality for Getaways Travels project
that includes several practices, services and various specifications. I have defined the entire
quality plan that comprises of responsiveness, assurance, tangibility, reliability and empathy.
I have acknowledged that the responsiveness must provide entire details regarding the
booking of the flights and customer related timing so as to make it simpler for the user. I have
then acknowledged the tangibles that will deliver facilities to various visitors in all
surrounding areas, reservation counters, baggage and car parking related facilities. I have
even acknowledged the assurance which ensures the timing of flight reach and makes the
journey more safe and secure. It even looks after the arrival and departure time of the
available flights. I have acknowledged the reliability of Getaways Travels that ensures if the
delivered services completely fulfil and meet the made promises and even assures that the
work is entirely controlled by front end staff. I lastly have acknowledged the empathy which
determines the training of the staff to behave in a calm and polite way in any kind of the
situation. The services that must be provided to customers should be courteous.

Week 10
In week 10 I have planned to perform the SWOT analysis that determines the strength,
weakness, opportunities and threats of the Getaways Travels system. The system has several
following strengths that are brand of the company, it has less cost for labours and also the
revenue stream of the Getaways Travel system is good and better. The system has several
following weaknesses that are the margins of the current running system is really low and it
has a limited number of searches made available to a user in the current running system.
Also, the services provided to the Getaways Travel system utilization are entirely non-
effective. The system has several following opportunities that are described as the launching
of newly produced products such as booking of hotel and cab along with the booking of food
made available to users. Merge several flights for the service enhancement for any of the user
that will be more in number. It also provides an opportunity to enhance the revenue of the
current running system by increasing it. The system has several following threats that
comprises of very high competition along with various currencies that are accepted by new
systems which generally have very high related fluctuation. It leads to several threats leading
to increasing passenger awareness towards the terrorism and health.

Week 11
In week 11 I have planned to determine several issues that are associated with the system
developed for Getaways Travels that are defined as the unawareness among users regarding
their nearby available stores which is the second option to purchase tickets, only PayPal is the
methods used for payment mode but along with this also various other payment modes like
credit cards and E-wallets should be introduced for making easier and simpler user payment
method. The system developed lacks a page developed for feedback either directly or on
social media which enables passenger in sharing their experience of the trip. The system even
doesn’t notify regularly to the user regarding latest occurring updates which are proposed via
Getaways Travels. Also, several team-related problems used to occur which I have
acknowledged. I have analysed that during meetings of the team, many members’ faces
issues related to the decided time and are not gathered because of it which generally affect the
target achievements and decision making. It might lead to delivery delays. I have noticed that
various conflicts use to arise so as to reach a conclusion, as a team never use to satisfy a
common decision. Also, problem-related to customer frequent changing requirements occur
that disturbs all planning.

Week 12
In week 12 I have planned to determine the changes or amendments which are being required
within the developed system for Getaways Travels. I have analysed several changes that are
required in the developed system of Getaways Travels which are described as aware several
users by providing details regarding the available nearby stores which is performed by
tracking the location this enables the user to make their purchase directly from stores. I have
analysed that the system must have its own E-wallet as a payment mode in addition to the
current PayPal as a medium of making a payment or purchase. Along with these two also
various card-based payment must be enabled. I have analysed that a page for feedback must
be generated for the user so that they can share their received experiences with the trips made
by the Getaways Travels. The page can either be created in the developed system itself or
either on social media applications. I have analysed that the system created must provide
notification to users on regular basis especially to old, active as well as newly joined peoples
allowing them to grab all latest updates about the offered Getaways Travels services. By
implementing these changes the project or the entire system will be enhanced with great
efficiencies.
