INTRODUCTION
Organizational behavior is refers to as study of essential elements like employee's behavior
at workplace that has been influences by individuals, management and other activities conduct in
business organizations. The main target of its is to modernize organizational concept and develop a
better approach of organizational life. The current assignment will be based on GlaxoSmithKline,
which falls under the category of multinational pharmaceutical company in UK. It is leading
pharmaceutical company and ranked behind other companies by their competitors. The study will
explain theories, models and concept related to the employee behavior in the workplace and also
demonstrate people behave, interactions at work at individual, group and organization levels.
Furthermore, the report will justify impact of organizational culture that may have on the
organization and role of culture on employee motivation. Lastly, it will also clarify philosophies and
concepts of organizational behavior in the context of chosen firm and give venture situation (Bryant
and Merritt, 2021).
Classifying organizational culture in channel with a philosophical model
Charles Handy famous culture that links distribution of organizational culture to witness in
the form of framework. Handy consider that there are main four types of culture which determine
by an expansion to which management is established and centralized. These are:
Handy's model of organizational culture-
Power culture- Management with this culture in GlaxoSmithKline may influence
performance and behavior of individual and teams positively, in term of using their power ethically
to reward them and enhance their motivational level. The firm is governed by this and has powerful
management that impact on action and beliefs. Manager affect plan in firm, to use their power in an
effective manner. By studying organizations, may start to exist market when people's are not
protective to check or switch action. They can take place by improving of organizations that drive
from regular learning. It is then visible, firm may upgrade through outlay of potential which bring
innovation and creativity. For example, by giving rewards to employees may boost the team
performance and encourage them to do more for the organization (Xiang and Yenika-Agbaw, 2021).
Role culture- With this type of culture, management in organization may positively
influence performance and attribute of employees, in term of delegating roles and accountability on
the basis of their interest level. These determine formal system regarding values and beliefs. It
facilitates big firm to increase tasks between their employees and ensure work is covered without
failure of similarity. They particular favorable for special role like for marketing, program
management etc. The major drawback of these culture is that individuals who do not conform are

criticized and every change in the workplace is to be considered carefully. This culture varies each
subordinates that delegated towards the performance and authority. In which perform their duties
and function within management.
Project Culture- Just like above types of organizational culture, it may also influence
workers performance and actions in positive manner, when task is allotted at workplace on the basis
of skills and efficiency of individuals, instead of considering their physical appearance. These type
of organization comes with familiar concern and specializations appear collectively to build team.
In these type of culture every team member contribute equally and fulfill tasks in the most innovate
way. For example, when company assign a work to employee he performs efficient manner in
which they achieve targets and come in to a positive impact within the management. It offers
circumstances by which subordinate connect with another person to build connection in manner to
create good environment, also maintain smooth functioning. By clarify situation mutually enhance
unity and usually defines employee success in addition of identified needs and requirements of
organization. (Thompson and Unachukwu, 2021).
People Culture- With power culture, leader and manager may act in such a manner, which
made them capable to influence employees in term of increasing their performance and productivity
extent, even better than last few months or years. GlaxoSmithKline may follow culture of people
culture in which, individuals are more concerned about their organization by increasing their
efficiency in workplace. Employees just come to office for earning money, and they are loyal
towards an organization. Also, by encouraging people in order to raise their performance and
effective to achieve organizational objectives. They always remember that firm is first preference
more than anything else. So, these are the four organizational culture that differentiated power, role,
task and people culture that signifies in the management (KHOLIKOV, 2021).
Culture improve effectiveness of organization with focus on communication
Organisational culture enables the employee to give their full participation in every activity
of company whether it's their board meetings or decision-making process. Effective culture clears
the vision, mission, objectives of the organization which helps them to earn success for the
company (Jalal and Toulson, 2018). An effective culture allow each and every employee to share
their views and opinion which also boost their morale to carry out company's task in effective
manner. Good communication skills are more important to maintain a positive and healthy work
culture. Transparent communication plays an important at each level where each employee and
employer of the organization can pass their message easily for the effective work. Safe culture
