Introduction
This report aims to identify and analyse the positive and negative
impact of global events on the macro environment. This report will be
discussing all the possible impacts that give influence on organisational
behaviour and decision making.

Positive and negative impacts of the
global events
Events are touching almost every aspect of life which includes
cultural, social, environmental, economic and political aspects. For
that purpose, there are some factors are mentioned below which are
the part of macro environment:
 Physical and environmental impact
 Tourism and economic impact
 Political impact

Physical and environmental impact
This is one of the important factors which should be considered by
organising committee and hosting countries.
 Positive impact: It improves the infrastructure and sustainable benefits
are also felt. The most achievement part of London 2012 was creation
of Olympic Park.
 Negative impact: The negative impact was increasing in pollution as it
invites a large number of people.

Tourism and economic impact
It includes the factors which contribute in economy. Due to the London
2012 Olympic, it provides many positive and negative economic impacts
which are discussed below:
Positive impact: It boosted an economy and providing many long lasting
economic benefits such as increasing collaboration with other countries.
Negative impact: London 2012 Olympic was a mega event and that's
why the host country bore heavy expenditure on organising the event.

Political impact
It is found that politicians and politics are an important part of event
management as they are considered as stakeholders of an event.
 Positive impact: With the assistance of such type of events, London made a
good relationship with other countries that improves their trade relations.
 Negative impact: There was an access interference of political bodies
which creates many barriers in order to organise an event.

Evaluate the macro environmental
factors
 It is analysed that and event is touching with every kind of factor
that include in macro environment factors such as social, political,
legal, environmental, economical, etc. Due to these factors,
organising committee of an event needs to take a decision after
analysing each factor.

Recommendations for improvements
and solutions for a specific event
There are some recommendations for the purpose of improvements
that reduce the adverse impacts and maximize profit from events:
 They also need to focus on sustainable development which includes
integrity, transparency, legacy, human rights, labour standards,
inclusivity, etc.
 They also have a risk management system in which they ensure the
safety and security of event.

SWOT analysis tool
 SWOT analysis is an effective tool which is used for the purpose of
effective and successful planning of events. This can be better understood
with the help of SWOT analysis of London 2012 Olympics.

Strengths
 It provides involvement of manage stakeholders.
 They used strategic planning of regeneration and legacy in the game.
 They have a support on cross party and commitment of regeneration.
 It is found that complementary regional and local regeneration activities or
initiatives occurring in Thames gateway and East London.

Weaknesses
 There was no long term effective valuation of regeneration.
 It is found that strategies and governance for regeneration was very
complex.
 It is found that legacy in some venues was uncertain.

Opportunities
 Olympics 2012 provides many opportunities of employment that boost
economic growth.
 They developed a blueprint for the purpose of future sport related schemes
in UK.

Threats
 They were uncertain about economic climate, spending reviews of
government, global recession, etc.
 There was a possibility of potential conflict between local and national
policies.

Critically evaluate successful planning of
events
 It is analysed that a successful planning can be possible only when
and organising committee of event is analysing both internal and
external factors which may be impact on their decision making and
organisational behaviour. For the successful planning of events, they
should use SWOT analysis and PESTLE analysis tool. This will
help them to achieve the goals and objectives after considering these
factors.

Conclusion
 It can be concluded from the above discussion that global event provides
positive as well as negative impacts on the macro environment. All those
impacts have a influence on organisational behaviour and decision making
process that's why it is necessary to consider. In addition to this, it also
discussed the use of SWOT analysis tool as it helps them to examining and
assessing the criteria which is very important for a successful planning of
event.
