INTRODUCTION
The football game is quite famous in the UK. Newcastle United Football Club is known
for English Professional club of football which was founded in 1982. The period from 1904 to
1910 was one of the successful year for the football club as they have won FA (Football
Association) Cup in the said period. However, it has also found struggles for winning cups in
early 2000 but it returned strong after winning the Premier League of 2017-18 in effectual
manner. This shows that football club is able to win matches in the best way possible by making
higher goals.
Present report will deal about the deeper insights about the issues being currently
observed in the club. The problem statement in Newcastle United Football Club is that players
are appropriate fees structure is not present. Players are not paid in accordance to their individual
performance but are paid according to their big names. For resolving issues in effectual manner,
usage of Business intelligence and Data Analytics will be carried out in presenting solutions to
club’s management. Moreover, excel dashboard will be presented which in turn would be helpful
in providing key aspects in effective way (Farokhi & Roghanian, 2018). Excel dashboard will be
presented in which up to 70 players data will be analysed. Hence, management will be able to
implement appropriate fees criteria. Recommendation will be made for usage of Business
Intelligence / Data Analytics.
1. Assessing problem/opportunity statement regarding Newcastle United FC
The game of football is one of the popular one in overall Europe. Players also play well
and receive good amount of income in the best way possible. This is evident from the fact that
fees paid to players are more in comparison to other sports (Dixon, 2018). It can be analysed that
in the football sector, players are paid in accordance to their performance and as a result, fees are
paid to them quite effectually.
The management of Newcastle United Football Club has main issue as it is not able to
form appropriate fees structure in the best way possible. This issue need to be resolved so that
players could be paid in accordance to their performance i.e. more number of goals made and
should be paid higher and not as per the big name of players. For overcoming issue, dashboard in
excel will be prepared in accordance to performance of players.

The football club is required to prepare appropriate structure in effectual manner. It can
be analysed that graphical representation of players’ performance will be made with the help of
which presentation will provide performances and related parameters of performance quite
effectually (Nikghadam Hojjati & et.al., 2018). Business Intelligence is crucial technique which
provides way for concerning problems and aids in decision-making quite effectually.
In accordance to problem being identified, business intelligence software is quite useful
for analysing solutions in the best manner possible (Haryadi, 2018). Dashboard is one of the
important means that by which firm may be able to analyse significance in effectual manner.
Dashboard is a data visualisation tool which is helpful in displaying present status of metrics and
KPI (Key Performance Indicators) to firm quite effectually (Zambom-Ferraresi, Iráizoz & Lera-
López, 2019). Regression is termed as a set of definite process for estimating relationships
between two variables such as dependent variable and independent variables in a better manner

SSM
SSM (Single Supervisory Mechanism) is useful data analytics tool for prioritising
strategic investment in the best manner possible. It enhances supervision quality and produces
desired results (Alexander, 2015). It is useful for Newcastle United Football Club as it helps to
resolve structured queries which are found in fees paid and performance of football players
which are not appropriate.

ROOT
ROOT is called data container tree with its structures of leaves and branches. In simple
words, it is used to assess data analytics in order to ascertain productivity about data and provide
results to management for taking decisions (Dudin & Frolova, 2015). With the help of ROOT,
Newcastle United Football Club's management will be able to form structured fees criteria for
players as per their individual performances (Awadallah & Allam, 2015).
CATWOE
It stands for CATWOE (Customers Actors Transformation process, Worldview, Owners
and Environmental constraints). It is useful business analytics tool for identifying what
Newcastle United Football Club wishes to achieve, what are problem areas such as fees structure
and how perspective of stakeholder affects owners of it (Gminder, 2018).

The data analytics is based on conceptual framework which involves sorting large data
sets for assessing trends, patterns and predictive analytics for evaluating artificial intelligence
regarding future or real-world events (Baxter & et.al., 2018). This helps management of Football
Club to effectively ascertain individual performances of players and analyse high-performing
and low-performing people.
Balance Scorecard
Four perspectives are included in this system which includes financial, customers,
internal business process, and learning and growth perspective of organisation (Akkermans &
Van Oorschot, 2018). Thus, internal performance of players can be accomplished with the help
of balanced scorecard and thus, problem can be resolved.
KPI (Key Performance Indicators)
It is useful measure signifying how effectively organisation is accomplish goals. KPI's is
used for evaluating success at reaching targets and hence, overall business performance is judged
(Thorstad & Wolff, 2018). Thus, Newcastle United Football Club management will be able to
form appropriate fees criteria with regards to high-performing and low-performing players and
reward accordingly.
ROUD DEFINATIATION
The advanced analytics is used by using modern BI tools for discovering deeper insights,
making predictions on the basis of data and producing recommendations quite effectively.
Hence, reason behind low performances can be assessed and deeper insights can be gathered by

3. Interpretation of dashboard
Excel Dashboard
Excel dashboard has been prepared with the help of which players’ performance can be
evaluated with ease. There are various players of Newcastle United Football Club such as
Wilcox, Robert, Ware, David, Dyer, Carrie, Hoover, Evangeline and many other players which
provides win to team in effective manner and as a result, players are paid as well. However, it
can be seen that players are not paid in accordance to the fees paid. This is evident from the fact
that Wilcox, Robert have made 9 goals per season with passes of 8. Moreover, key passes per
game is 1 and they are paid 140 million of fees. While, another player like Hoover, Evangeline
which has made similar 9 goals per season with passes 12 in every match have fewer fees. Total
fees paid to these players is only 80 millions. This clearly shows that players are not offered fees
in accordance to their individual performance.
The above figures as represented in dashboard clearly shows that fees are not paid
according to performance of players of football club. The fees paid to Hoover, Evangeline is

only 80 millions while Wilcox, Robert are paid total fees of 140 million. The salary or fees
should be in accordance to individual performance and not related to name of players (Seddon &
et.al., 2017). Providing higher fees to players having good amount of goals will boost their
performance quite easily and they will be able to perform better leading to more wins to
Newcastle United Football Club.
MS Excel dashboard is helpful as it provides clarity regarding players' performance in
Newcastle United Football Club. The highest scoring player and lowest scorers are effectively
highlighted. It is beneficial for management to analyse dashboard and consecutively revise fees
structure in effective manner. Thus, it can be critically analysed that excel dashboard is quite
helpful for resolving problems.
Regression Analysis
H0: There is no significant difference between mean of fees paid and goals made by players of
Newcastle United Football Club
H1: There is significant difference between mean of fees paid and goals made by players of
Newcastle United Football Club
Interpretation-
It can be interpreted from above regression analysis that p value of the figure is higher
than that of standard value of significant level which is 0.05. This clearly shows that alternative
hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected. It can be analysed from overall results of
regression that as such there is no statistical significant difference between value of mean
obtained between fees paid to football players of by Newcastle United Football Club and goals
made by them during match. This implies that fees paid have no significant difference or impact
on performance of football players. With P value that is 0.06 is will be measured that alternative
hypothesis of result get accepted and null hypothesis get rejected. It also analysed with the result
that null hypothesis is rejected as value is more than set level of significance.
On the other hand, ANOVA is another useful technique which helps to ascertain
association regarding estimations in the best manner possible (Bell, Bryman & Harley, 2018).
This provides clarity that significant difference exists between the variables or not. The above
output shows that F value comes to 0.06 which is more than 0.05 significance level.
4. Drawing conclusion and giving recommendation
Conclusion

Hereby it can be concluded from above report based on performance of by Newcastle
United Football Club that management requires taking effective action for providing salaries to
soccer players in the best manner possible. It can be analysed from the report that by Newcastle
United Football Club is not imparting salaries to players particularly on the basis of their
performance. Most of the players are getting more salaries despite of low goals made by them
which makes the fees structure inappropriate up to a major extent. With successful
implementation of BI, management will be able to revise fees structure and players would be
paid in accordance to individual performances in matches.
Recommendations
By referring to the outcome received by applying statistical measures, recommendations
can be provided to by Newcastle United Football Club which are listed below-
 It is hereby recommended to by Newcastle United Football Club management that it
should revise the fees criteria in accordance to goals made by soccer players. The big
name of players should not be taken into account as it will lead to wastage of money and
efficient players will be disheartened.
 It is recommended that salaries offered on the basis of performance will provide team
with higher performance and more productivity will be provided and efforts will be made
by players. If fewer fees are paid to them when their performance is good, they will not
stay with the team and it could lead to inefficiency in the team.
 Successful implementation of BI can be done and appropriate fees structure may be
applied. Moreover, it will provide clarity regarding players' performance at regular
intervals.
