world has turned into a global village, and therefore, the importance of both the concept has
changed drastically (Roudometof). However, there are different views regarding whether
nationalism is facing difficulty in the rise of nationalism. The first argument of the essay gives a
brief idea of both the concept of nationalism and Globalisation and briefly talks about how
immigration is one of the reasons for shrinking nationalism in the situation. The second
argument throws some light on the idea of economic nationalism. In the third point, there is some
counter-argument that has claimed that how nationalism has, in turn, escalated nationalism.
Globalization has created a world that is less homogenized as well as pluralistic, which, as a
result, has diminished nationalism.

ensured and facilitated the free flow of information, individuals as well as resources. According

Globalisation as they have got access to the western product. The people have implemented
various nuances of western culture into their lives (Colatone and Stanig). There are also
instances where it is seen that the third world countries are incorporating the westernization in
their daily lives by mistakenly saying it as westernization. Some of the countries have also
followed liberalism and have granted their citizen the right to choose any culture they want and

The example of European union is significant. This is identified with the concept that they term
them as 'European' instead of the citizen of other states. Therefore it can be said cultural
homogeneity has resulted in the weakening of the cultural ties, and as a result, the significance of
nationalism has become outdated.
The nations are becoming economically independent because of Globalisation and have
resulted in the concept of economic nationalism. Global equality has been brought up by

prominent examples is the NAFTA and the European Union have established a robust economic
alliance and have removed trade barriers among their fellow states. It was during this time that
the financial sector, especially the banking and the real estate sector, faced the problem. The

One of the significant factors which have negatively affected the Globalisation is the effect of the
transitional corporation in the market. These corporations like Amazon are involved in the
production of good and services in various countries and is not restricted to one country. As a
result of this, the individuals are said to be less rooted in their culture.
There are also opposing views about Globalisation, which has said globalization hs, in
turn, facilitated Globalisation (Ghosh). Through several instances it has been observed that the
citizen of the countries have transformed them in extremist nationalist. The native citizen of the
country as raised their voice against this issue (Beissembayev). Several countries like Africa and
the Middle East have used nationalism as an instrument to fight against Globalisation (Riffat).

However, from the above discussions, it can be stated that Globalisation has actually
helped in undermining nationalism. The view that Globalisation is responsible for religious
extremism is accurate; however, it depends on the individual perspective of the citizen.
