The global domination and unipolar attitude of the US nation is still prevalent in the
international politics. It can be stated that that nowadays the global political horizon has went
beyond the power clash between US and Russia and successfully extended its paradigm towards
small or less powerful countries that have strategic role in the world political platform. As a
result of that the US foreign policy also keeps itself change with the situation. A radical
transformation can be seen after the attack of 9/11 that pushed the US government to deal with
the international terrorists through direct actions (Finer and Malley 2018). Though these terrorist
organisations got aid from the US earlier during the occupation of Russia in Afghanistan in
1970s. Nonetheless, the basic structure of the US foreign policy remained the same that based on
bilateral development, economic assistance, aid and multilateral economic contributions.

Globalisation has a great deal of impact on the domestic and foreign policy of United
States. There are a number of factors that are responsible to make impact on the US politics. In
this regard, the immigration policy of the US government identifies both the change in domestic
politics and the foreign policy of the country. There are 34 million lawful migrants who live in
United States. As a matter of fact, in the Fiscal year of 2016, 804,793 immigrants get permanent
residence in US (Alarcón 2017). However, the impact of globalisation has also changed the
dynamics of US immigration policy. It reduced employment for the Americans despite of having
adequate qualification. Moreover, the rate of crimes was also increased in a rapid pace that made
the US government more concern about it. As a result of all those consequences, the Trump
government recently started to put a restriction on the immigration policy due to security threat
inside the country.

In the history of US, the Republican government always set draconian measures that
dismantled the society and law and order. From George W. Bush to current President Donald
Trump, all were meddling with the crisis situation. Based on this argument, it can be stated that
the US occupation in foreign land was to some extent justified in the light of the retaliation over
the event of 9/11. Nevertheless, those actions were never ethical entirely. For an example,
snooping through the domestic surveillance program the US government violated the rights of
privacy of the US citizens (Finer and Malley 2018). There were alternative methods to gun down
the security threat. Moreover, Al-Qaida was the brain child of US to continue the power checks
and balance in the Middle East region. It got a wrong turn and boomeranged for the diplomatic
politics of US.

In the present case scenario it cannot be exaggerated by stating that democratic elections
are influenced by corruption. The best example, in this regard is the US Presidential election
2016. According to Siddiqui (2018) the Trump political team paid a hush money of $130,000 to
a porn star for keeping quiet about the adultery she performed with President Trump. Moreover,
one of the major setback for the US election was exposed at the time when an UK company
Cambridge Analytic held responsible to influence the US people to vote for the Republicans
through social media channels. It surely identified as unethical and corrupted election ever in the
history of United States.

It is highly important to set the boundary of amount of money investing into the political
campaigns. It was seen in case of the developing countries’ political system where money
decided the ultimate result. However, currently, the same thing happened in the 2016 election in
United States as well. Most recently, a report popped up with the information that Trump
Organisation was responsible for money laundering worth of $1.5 billion through different shell
companies. Moreover, the sale of real estate by the Trump Organisation in 2017 was calculated
$35 million (Waldman 2016). However, the details of the buyers were not found due to some
sceptical transactions. Based on this, it can rightly be claimed that it is important to prevent use
of lump sum amount of money by the political parties during elections.

Demography is considered to be one of the influential factors that can deliver so much
changes in course of election. For an example, the victory of Donal Trump in the Presidential
election of 2016 had a deep influence on the voting pattern and outcomes of United States. The
changing demography in US highlighted that the white population inside the country will be
decreased from 68% to 67% in 2020 whereas the other demographics in terms of African-
Americans, Hispanics, Asian and others are increased sporadically up to 4% (Chinni 2018). As a
result of that it can be expected that the voting pattern of US election as well will be transformed
with the change in demography.

As far as the type of governance is concerned, it can be argued that there is a long history
of aggressive presidentship during the tenure of the Republicans. For an example, during the
period of George W. Bush, war broke out between US and Afghanistan. Furthermore, the US
military intervention in Iraq also created severe threat to the global peace and tranquillity in a
great extent. During the time of Nixon, it was also seemed that the US government got involved
into the Vietnam War. The same approach is also seen in case of the current presidency under
Donald Trump (bbc.com 2018). The entanglement between US and North Korea and escalating
tension relationship with China became a threat for the foreign diplomatic policy of United
States.

In case of the mid-term election of United States, the roll of cash and power politics is
considered to be the major events that can influence the American politics to a great extent. In
this context, the new immigration policy of the US government became a dependable factor that
affected the outcome of US election intensely. There are more than 30 million immigrants live in
United States who have the right to vote and expressing their fundamental rights as the
permanent citizens. Besides this, question of gun control and foreign policy matters are also
contributed a lot (Fuchs 2018).
