1GROUP DYNAMICS Introduction Aiming to create a fair and comprehensive view about the various processes of group dynamics and the factors that impede group interaction, this essay will elaborate upon the ideas as well as theories related to communication. Group dynamics refers to the various manners in which individuals in a group interact to establish as well as maintain the sanctity of the group (Nazzaro & Strazzabosco, 2009). The presented case study presents the problem faced by Machalia in one of her group dynamics engagement. It was seen that she was not allowed to voice her opinions in the group that consisted of mostly senior members. It was also seen that the senior members had completely disregarded her opinions about sponsorships. The problem lies in the fact that her ideas were discarded by the other experienced members of the group. The following paragraphs will endeavor to argue for the idea that it is essential for every group member to take into consideration the perception and ideas of others, irrespective of the age or expertise. Discussion It has to be accepted that the aspect of group dynamics inculcates the crucial notion of proper team building (Geiman, 2016). In the given case scenario, it is seen that there is a prevalence of lack of team-building ideologies because the senior members failed to take into consideration the ideas of the person concerned. Studies and theories are emblematic of the fact that in order to build concrete teams, it is essential to take into consideration the perspectives of each member (Watson, Gatewood & Lewis, 2014). In addition to this, it can also be said that the aspect of group dynamics also encompasses the concept of the proper introduction of each participating member (Klandermans, 2014). A closer look at the given case study will reveal that there is a lack of proper and comprehensive communication. Machalia’s view-points were disregarded for being too far-fetched and representative of the views of present generation. However, it has to be accepted that in order to ensure the proper flow of ideas amidst the groups, it is important for the existence of the communication amidst all the members. In the given scenario, it was also seen that one of the main aspect of the scenario was that the senior members had tried to exercise their dominance over the speaker. Studies project the idea that exercising dominance over others in group interaction and communication can act as impediments in the process of effective team building (Forsyth, 2018). Recent studies depict the idea that in group interactions, it is integral to value the opinion and perspectives of others. In the given scenario, it is seen that the dominating individuals refused to assimilate the ideas of Machalia. This is reflective of the idea of exercise of superiority that had prevented the person from properly expressing her views. This aspect is problematic because this aspect is seen to be a major cause that contributes in the relative non-participation of other participants in group activities as well as endeavors. It has to be accepted that dominant leaders and members fail to perceive the capabilities and inherent skills of other members of the group. Dominant members in the group also fail to take into consideration the perspectives and ideologies of others.
