Guneet SinghStudent Id 00275931T1 Initial Statement of Intent With the help of this reflective journal, I will develop as well as apply a conceptual understanding of reflective practice within a business context. Besides, the reflective writing will critically evaluate stakeholder’s viewpoints and economic principles within the global business environments. To me, self-reflection is a measure to assess you as well as the way one work and study. As per my opinion, reflective writing helps while developing practical skills further and inter-linking that practice with the theory. Thus, this writing is all about analysing what I am going to do and why I am doing it while applying my past teachings and relevant experiences which I have learned in the past. Here, my focus is over reflecting on the key motivation for undertaking chosen postgraduate studies along with the expectations about the course and succeeding career path (Heyrup&Bente,2009).Inthiscontext,mybasicunderstandingaboutBusiness Environment and Economic Principles made me realise that I should study this business environment course at Torrens University (TU). My definition of business suggests that business is an association or resourceful entity involved in industrial, commercial, or professional activities. It means that, a business starts with a business idea and a name as well.In addition, my knowledge about business environment and economic principles suggests that nature of the business determine whether implementing the business idea into a real business will be feasible or not. Furthermore, I also think that a business idea can be successful only when the business idea can bring value to its consumers. In the context of economic principles within any business environment, financialrewardswhichresultfromsuccessfulbusinessarecriticallyimportantfor entrepreneurs to do business in an effective manner. As per my knowledge, ley economic principle of any business contains key factors which can motivate entrepreneurs to work hard along with taking tremendous risks. Moreover, my opinion about assessing any business environment suggests that business can be assessed and analysed with the help of key factors likesocial, financial, personal, longevity, customersatisfactionaswellasemployee satisfaction. According to me, business can be understood as the planned efforts of an enterprise for supplying consumers with products and services in order to gain a profit. As
Guneet SinghStudent Id 00275931T2 per my knowledge, various businesses vary in size, as measured through sales volume or by the number of employees yet they all share the common purpose of earning profits. I chose Business Environment (BE) course to study at TU because business is one of the key interests of mine since my childhood. I always wanted my parents and family to let me pursue my passion in business. Since my childhood, my ideal was Mr Richard Pratt who was one of the top business men of the Australia(Hickson, 2011). I was really impressed with his business ideas, thoughts, thinking and way of addressingthe world with his business mind. In this context, I want to quote some of my past experiences which would greatly explain my interest into this BE course. When I was studying in school, I used to have a lot of business ideas in my mind. Out of all of those business ideas, I tried to implement one in reality by my own when I was 14 years old. I used to be very good at designing, decoration and innovating things on the spot(Heyrup & Bente, 2009). Hence, I decided to go to my friends and relatives’ housesto earn money with my business idea through decorating their places on the occasions like their birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. However, this small but creative business idea of mine could not work due to my hectic study schedule and lack of business planning(Heyrup & Bente, 2009). In addition, my academics and working experiences has also prepared and helped me to go for this post graduate study at TU. In order to develop and apply my conceptual understanding within a business context I will effectively attend all of the lectures, seminars, video lectures, workshops and other practice sessions. I will try hard to critically evaluate economicprinciplesaswellasstakeholders’viewpointswithindifferentbusiness environments with the help of studying this course at best university like TU. Additionally, to ensure that all required outcomes of the selected course are met, I will practice all concepts and volunteer during all possible business events occurring at TU and other popular places of Australia. Furthermore, based on(Hickson, 2011)I will manage as well as monitor my studies to bring a successful conclusion with the help of my academic and non-academic skills like time-management,personalitymanagement,criticalthinking,analyticalthinking, professional communication and punctuality in studies. In the context of my future, I will analyse, apply and implement the knowledge acquired through studying BE course at TU in a way to be successful at future workplace. After studying BE course, my short-term goals contain an internship from Harvard Business School (HBS) and post internship I would like
Guneet SinghStudent Id 00275931T3 to start my own business in future. Therefore, to become an entrepreneur through my academic knowledge, skills and experiences studying post-graduation at TU is essential as this will add to my professional skills and knowledge to a wide extent. In this way, this statement of intent is demonstrating my intentions regarding studies at Torrens University as well as how those might help me develop professionally and personally. In whole, post writing this intent letter I realised that reflective self-awareness always directs towards better performance and leadership skills. Moreover, my thinking has evolved as an improved understanding of an individual offers a solid basis for empathy as well as leading others. Finally, this statement of intent has documented my academic intentions, short-term goals, long-term goals regarding my future studies at TU. References Heyrup, S., & Bente, E. B.
