INTRODUCTION
Under health and social care, health and safety is an crucial consideration for entire
practitioners. The importance of consistent monitoring the execution of health and safety
legislation and polices for health and social care workplace has been elaborated under this report.
In this particular report, various legislations and the procedures followed in practices of health
and social care services to maintain good health and safety at workplace area discussed. This also
enlist various ethical practices which are followed during carrying out various care activities in
workplace to provide better services to client.

This also enlist various codes of practices which should be followed in NHS during carrying out
various care activities in workplace to provide better services to client.
Main Body
Policies and procedures in maintaining health and safety in social care organisation
premises: There are many policies and procedure defined in the country legislation in order to
ensure health and safety in workplace. This is very much important for NHS that they follow all
the required laws related with health and safety in practices of the social care services for
maintaining safe environment for workforce as well as the service users. As working in NHS I
also contribute a lot in ensure health and safety of patients. This is the sector which is working
providing healthy life to their client and people of society. It is my responsibility to maintain safe
surrounding in working premises to provide satisfactory services to people (Lee, Mahendra and
Alvarez, 2010). The various legislation like Health and safety at work act defines different
provision that restricts the practices which may negatively effect safety of an individual.
The country government has provided various regulations and code of practices in
relation with health and safety in order to ensure safety and protective environment in services of
social care. The Food act defined every health and safety care home such as NHS should ensure
cleanliness in food preparation area, maintain hygiene in workplace and provide healthy food the
patient in order to help them in faster recovery from disease. The Data protection act 1998
provide a right to the service user to take an appropriate actions fro securing their personal

information and secure his dignity while availing services of health and social scare groups
(Wilks, Stephen and Moore, 2013). This law ensures that the care workers are bound by laws not
to share confidential information of the client related with his personal data, sexual issues,
physical life or about any criminal records with another person. While RIDDOR is the code of
practices which provides a procedures and provisions to the Reporting Of Injuries, Disease and
Dangerous Occurrence regulation (2013). This is providing authority to report various workplace
incidents related with disease or dangerous occurrences in work premises. COSHH describes
about various Code of practice which stands for Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health.
NHS are using hazardous substances in workplace which negatively affect the safety and health
of the individual working with firm or the services user like Chemicals, Fumes, Dust etc. which
have to be controlled in appropriate manner in workplace (Katz, 2010). The government also
defined proper manual of moving and handling substances in order to maintaining safe working
environment. This defines various practices to carry out activities related with transportation of
objects in appropriate manner. So, there are some laws and procedures should be implemented in
the NHS culture strictly to maintain healthy and safe working environment.
Role and responsibilities of various stakeholders in maintaining health and safety in
workplace: The various stakeholders in NHS are arranged at different level of hierarchy in
organisational structure. All people related with health and social care firm are given with
different set of roles and responsibilities which they have to follow up in their working to
maintaining health and safety inn work premises.
