INTRODUCTION
In the health and care setting, health experts and doctors have major role and
responsibility to provide effective care and treatment to patients so that they can improve their
health issues. In every country, government have developed such policies, practices, system etc.
through which health experts can deliver effective treatment to patient and overcome their issues
regarding health. Apart from that, it is also very important to adopt effective communication with
patient so that they can discuss their issue with doctors. In addition to this, effective behaviour
and communication helps doctors in understanding the concern of patient regarding health. The
current report provides effective knowledge and understanding about the health policies,
legislation and code of conduct that helps health experts in delivering effective treatment to
service users. Furthermore, in this report, significance of the impressive behaviour and nature of
the doctors towards patient has been also discussed.

P1 Identify legislation that governs the use of medication in social care settings
In the different country, government develops different health care legislation and
policies that govern the handling of medication in social care setting. In the UK, government
developed several policies and legislations which are discussed below- The medicines act 1968- As per this act, there should not be misuse of medicines in the
wrong aspects. In addition to this, medicine should be relevant to the health issue and on
the packing of medicine, content regarding precaution and consumption should include. Misuse of Drug act 1971- As per this act, exportation and consumption of drug should
licence so as no one can miss use of the drug. With help of this legislation, individual can
not misuse of any drug. Data protection act 1998- As per this act, health care experts and doctors has no right to
disclose information of patient with anyone and any purpose (Acton, 2013). The entire
information of patient should be confidential and no other can access the data of patient
without permission. With assistance of this legislation individual can escape from the
frequent activity within an organisation. With help of this legislation, no one have right to
share any personal information of the patient and employees at the workplace.
 Health and safety act 2005- As per this act, in the health and care organisation, there
should be proper arrangement of the safety of patient as well as employees. If anyone

gets injured, then it is great responsibility of management to provide remedies and
expenditure to that individual.

In the health and care organisation, health experts, doctors as well as staff members have
major role and responsibility to improve health issue of patient. In the absence of doctor, health
cannot be improved in the hospital. It is great responsibility of doctors to understand the actual
problem of the patients and deliver effective treatment to them according to their requirement.
With help of impressive and friendly behaviour and communication skill, doctor can understand
actual issue of patient and deliver treatment accordingly (Adams, 2007). In addition to this,
friends and family member are also equally responsible to improve health of patient in the health
and care organisation.

By help of proper communication, doctor can access the information of the individual
medication. In addition to this with help of effective behaviour with patient, doctors can analyse
and identify the actual issue of their health. Furthermore, family of the patient can also provide
the information of the patient health issue. Following are some sources to access the information
of patient-
Medication Administration Record sheet- With help of this sheet, patient health issue regarding
information can be easily accessed by the doctor. It is a structured and systematic health care
sheet which includes information regarding health problem.
Care plan- It is a systematic document that includes the schedule and planning of the treatment
of patient.
Medical records- With help of medical record, doctors and read the information of the patient
health problem.

Following are some routes by which medication can be administered-
Orally- With help of communication, health expert can administer and assess the actual issue of
the patient in the health care organisation (Andrews, Reddy and Whelan, 2011).

Injection- It is one of the significant equipment that is used to provide drug in the body of
patient. This is the best method to provide the medicines and liquidate solution in the patient
body in quick manner.
Inhalant- This is another one of the effective way to provide treatment and care service to
patient. In this treatment, an inhaler is used by doctor to provide oxygen and other gas in the
body of patient.
P5 Identification of various forms in which medications may be presented
Following are some forms by which medication can be presented-
Tablets- This form of medication is generally used to improve the internal disease of patient like
headache, cold, cough, pain etc. This is one of the easy form of mediation which is used by the
doctor. This form only provides according to their types of health issue of patient
Capsules- This is another one of the method that is used by doctor to improve the health issue.
This is also used in the pains, cold, cough and other internal health issue of patient.
Cream- This is used for the external injuries and external health problem of the patient. While
uncertain accidents and injury occurs with individual then cream mostly used by the doctors.
With help of cream injury can easily improve among the individual.

Following are some routes by which medication can be administered-
Measuring spoons- With help of this equipment and material in the administrating medication,
doctor can measure the quantity of the medicines (Billingsley and Lang, 2002).
Syringes- It is tube with a nozzle and piston or bulb for sucking in and ejecting liquid in a thin
stream, used for cleaning wounds or body cavities or fitted with a hollow needle for injecting or
withdrawing fluids.

All information regarding the care service, treatment and medicines should be
communicated with patient in an effective manner so as they can able to acknowledge about their
improvement of health. While workers are changed within the health and care organisation, then
management should provide continuously services to patients. In addition to this, management
should communicate information to other staff and agencies where appropriate.

Health experts should know that heat, air, light and moisture may damage the medicines

Temperature of the room should be set according to the requirement of medicines.
Caregiver should store the medicines out of reach and out of sight of children.
The packaging of medicine should be done in proper manner that as air and water cannot touch
it. Store of medicines in a cabinet with child latch and lock so as they can not arrive there and
uncertain accident can eliminate at the workplace.
P9 Explanation about how to dispose off un-used or unwanted medications safely
While medicines expired then it is very important for care taker to remove un-used and
unwanted medicines safely. (Entwistle and Quick, 2006). It is great responsibility of the care
worker and care giver to remove the expired, unwanted and unused medicines from their home
and shop as quickly as possible to aid reduce the chance that offers may accidental take. With
help of remove the unused medicines and equipments, management can overcome the uncertain
accident and hazard at the workplace. By help of this practice, health care worker can safety
deliver effective treatment and care services to patient so as they can improve their health issue.
Care worker should take out safely the medicines which are not used.

responsibility to provide effective care services and treatment to patient so that they can improve
their health. There are several kinds of the equipment and source that is used in the treatment of
patient. Doctors always provide the care services and tablets according to the health issue and
